10th UEFA Regions’ Cup PRESS KIT

UEFA and Turkish Football Federation (TFF) welcomes media representatives in the 10th UEFA Regions’ Cup finals that will take place from 1 – 9 July, 2017 in Istanbul, Turkey.

Eight teams booked their places at the finals. These 8 teams will compete in two groups of four, with the

top one in each section progressing to the final. Games are 90 minutes in duration and final game at full

time will be decided by a penalty shoot-out.

The line-up is as follows:

Group A: Istanbul, Ingulec, Zagreb, Lisboa

Group B: Castilla y Leon, Olomouc, Region II, South Region

• Castilla y Leon, champions in 2009, are aiming to become just the second side to win the competition

twice.

• Winner 2015, Eastern Region is not the same team with Region II, but they have same personnel in common.

• Zagreb’s Zeljko Stulec was overall top scorer in qualifying with six goals.

ROAD TO THE FINAL

The UEFA Regions' Cup brings together the best amateur selections in Europe, with 38 UEFA national associations involved in the 2016/17 competition. Preliminary round This round comprises two four-team mini-tournaments, with the two group winners across the two sections going to the intermediate round. Intermediate round The 30 sides who enter at this stage are joined by the two teams from the preliminary round. These sides are divided into eight groups of four, with the winners of each mini-tournament earning a place in the finals. Finals

One of the eight qualifiers host the finals in July 2017. There will be two groups of four with the winners contesting the final.
