TYPES OF CHANGES IN MATTER
Physical change
(Reversible)
Chemical change
(Irreversible)
PHYSICAL CHANGE (REVERSIBLE) Is a change that does not result in a new
substance. Examples:a)Changes in states of matter. Ice to water to vapor
b)Cutting a piece of paper.
c)Dissolving sugar or salt in water.
CHEMICAL CHANGE(IRREVERSIBLE) Is a change that results in one or more
new substance. Examples:a)Burning a piece of wood.
b)Iron rusting.
c)Bread dough baking.
EVIDENCE THAT A CHEMICAL CHANGE HAS HAPPENED(IRREVERSIBLE)1)Change in colour .Example: Iron rust.
2)Change in scent . ( odour )3)The presence of bubbling or fizzing.
4)Heat is released or absorbed.
