Stewardship: A way of Christian Life, we are each called
through our Baptism to be good stewards (caretakers) of
all that God has entrusted to us. How can we do this?
Accept God‘s gifts gratefully
Develop our gifts responsibly
Share our gifts lovingly in Justice with others
Make a conscious effort to return our gifts with
generous increase (of time, talent, & treasure)
As parents, grandparents and guardians, we are to live ac-
cordingly. We are entrusted with children and are re-
sponsible to raise them in a faith-filled home that sup-
ports our Catholic Faith. We in St. Anthony‘s are here
to help you teach and form the children in their faith
and prepare them to celebrate their sacraments.
Registration for Faith Formation will be held on Wednes-
day, September 4th from 5:30-7:00 pm for grades K5 –
12. Classes will begin on Wednesday, September 11th
at 7:00 pm. Sacrament classes will begin in October.
Watch for dates - to be posted..
AUGUST 15th is The SOLEMNITY of The ASSUMPTION of The BLESSED VIRGIN MARY. This means the day is designated and set aside as a spe-cial ―holyday of obligation‖ and Catholics are encouraged to attend Liturgies this day.
The Assumption commemorates the death of the Blessed Virgin Mary and her bodily as-sumption into Heaven.
We may choose to celebrate The Assumption of Mary (the Holy Mother of God) into Heaven, on the evening before (also called a ―vigil‖) and/or the day of AUGUST 15.
We will celebrate at Saint Anthony Church on Wednesday evening August 14 at 7 and again on Thursday morning, August 15 at 7:15 AM and 7 PM.

Contrary to what many females think, modesty is not a synonym for frumpy and is not about wearing burlap
sacks and denying feminine beauty. Nor is it a list of
fashion do‘s and don‘ts. Modesty helps women make
choices about fashion, so that the beauty of her whole
person, not just the beauty of her parts, shines forth. The
Catechism tells us modesty affirms feminine
beauty and awakens in others “a respect for the
human person.’ In modest dress, a woman recognizes
the depths of her own dignity and beauty. One should
begin before teen years to talk with children about what
is appropriate, what looks best, and that their body is a ‘temple of the Holy Spirit.‖ Many girls who dress inap-
propriately are just copying what they see in magazines;
trying to make themselves beautiful, they imitate an ad-
vertisement. Good role models set a good example. These are found importantly, among mothers, teachers,
aunts and friends, for modesty starts from the inside as females understand that the source of their dignity and
beauty isn‘t their size but the God who created them and
loves them. They have to recognize their own worth, seeing themselves as subjects to be loved, not objects to
be used. So, it is important to present themselves to the
world in a way that reflects that value and dignity.—OSV

INSOMNIA is contagious; if your baby has it,
chances are you won‘t be able to sleep either.
A farmer out in a cotton patch one hot August day
said “Lord, this cotton is so grassy, these rows are so
long, this mule is so slow and I’m so tired. I believe I’ve been called to preach.”
Overheard by a child to his overnight friend at bed-
time: ―I say my prayers when I brush my teeth. That
way I get into bed a lot quicker.‖
One child to another after Faith Formation Class: ―So
I take it the answer to the question ‗How did the hu-

A LOVE DONATION
By George & Emma Castillo, Alice Hund
One day as a little girl sat in her grandmother‘s lap, she asked her, ―Grandma, how do you get to heaven?‖
The little girl‘s grandmother looked at her with much love and responded. ―You get to heaven when all you
needed to do here on earth is completed. You get a special key that opens the gates of heaven.‖ The little girl
asked her, ―What kind of key do you need to open the gates of heaven?‖
―The key is love. While living this life you are always giving and receiving love. That love is very powerful
and can create families, make friends, and make you strong enough to go through anything. When it is time
that key will open the gates of heaven.‖ ―When will that happen? How does it work? The little girl asked with
much curiosity? ―The key only works when your heart is completely full of love and the angel God has sent
to you takes and uses it to open the door‖ said the grandmother. ―On that day all the love you received is used
to make the most beautiful key anyone on earth could ever imagine. It shines like a diamond and is as warm as
the sun. It shines with the joy of love received and is warmed by the hugs of all your loved ones. On that day
when we open the gates with that key you will present it to God and God will take it and sets it in the sky to
shine on those you leave behind. A new star is born when you enter heaven.‖
The little girl looked at her grandmother with much love and hugged her. ―When you go to heaven will you be
happy? What about the people left behind who are sad?‖ The grandmother smiled at told the little girl,
―Because I will carry all the love I received in this life and give it to God, I will be very happy. I will be hap-
pier than I have ever been. Those we leave behind are very sad, but the love we have for them keeps them
close to us who in heaven. You see, the love you take is what keeps you tied to them. Love cannot be sepa-
rated by death. It is made stronger because it now is eternal. That is, it is forever.‖
―Then, when you go to heaven, part of me goes with you? I get to be with you in some way?‖ the little girl
asked. ―Yes, you will be with me in a very special way. The love I have for you will stay with you and the
love you have for me will stay with me. That is the way of love. You will never be far from me, because you
are in my heart. My heart will be in heaven and so part of you goes with me. When we are together again then
you will understand what that really means. In the meantime we miss each other for a while, but love will be a
reminder that we are always together in a different way.‖ said the wise grandmother.
The day the little girl‘s grandmother had to say goodbye she knew that very night when she looked up into the
sky love was shining down on her and she was shining in heart of a grandmother that loved her in heaven.
