Lesson 11

Page 2: 11 Sacrifice Benefits Sef Eng

“For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised either. And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost”

(1 Corinthians, 15: 16-18)

“But Christ has

indeed been

raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those

who have fallen

asleep”

(1 Corinthians, 15: 20 NVI)

Resurrection is part of atonement; it validates Jesus’ atoning death and it guarantees our own resurrection.

“Nevertheless I tell you the truth: It is to your advantage that I go away, for if I don’t go away, the Counselor won’t come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you”(John, 16: 7 NVI)

ENTHRONEMENT

“For He [Christ] must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet” (1 Corinthians, 15: 25)

COMING OF THE COUNSELOR

“Being therefore exalted by the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured forth this, which you now see and hear” (Acts, 2: 33)

MEDIATION

“Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through Him, seeing He ever lives to make intercession for them”(Hebrews, 7: 25)

WORK OF THE COUNSELOR

“When he has come, he will convict the world in respect to sin, and righteousness, and judgment… He will guide you into all the truth… He will glorify me, for He will take from what is mine, and will declare it to you” (John, 16: 8, 13-14)

After the Ascension, Jesus’ sacrifice was accepted by the Father and He granted Him His request: To send the Holy Spirit to continue his work on Earth.

“Who is at the right hand of God, having gone into heaven, angels and authorities and powers being made subject to Him”(1 Peter, 3: 22)

At the cross, Jesus achieved salvation for everyone.

In Heaven, He applies that salvation to each believer.

We can have free access to the Father and be sure that our advocate will obtain the forgiveness of our sins; thanks to Jesus’ mediation.

“And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. And He is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world” (1 John, 2: 1-2)

Through the power of Christ and with Him, He preserves the life in our planet and helps and saves righteous and sinners.

“The physical organism of man is under the supervision of God; but it is not like a clock, which is set in operation, and must go of itself. The heart beats, pulse succeeds pulse, breath succeeds breath, but the entire being is under the supervision of God. "Ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building." In God we live and move and have our being. Each heart-beat, each breath, is the inspiration of Him who breathed into the nostrils ofAdam the breath of life,--theinspiration of the ever-presentGod, the Great I AM”E.G.W.(SDA Bible Commentary Vol. 1; Genesis 2:7)

He calls every human being to repentance,

confession and conversion.

“Christ, our Mediator, and the Holy Spirit are constantly interceding in man's behalf, but the Spirit pleads not for us as does Christ who presents His blood, shed from the foundation of the world; the Spirit works upon our hearts, drawing out prayers and penitence, praise and thanksgiving”.

E.G.W. (That I may now Him, March 10)

Jesus’ atonement and sanctifies them.

“The Holy Spirit implants a new nature, and molds through the grace of Christ the human character, until the image of Christ is perfected. This is true holiness”.

“The heart of God yearns over His earthly children with a love stronger than death. In giving up His Son, He has poured out to us all heaven in one gift. The Saviour's life and death and intercession, the ministry of angels, the pleading of the Spirit, the Father working above and through all, theunceasing interest of heavenly beings,--all are enlisted in behalf of man'sredemption … are these not mightyincentives and encouragements to urgeus to give the heart's loving serviceto our Creator and Redeemer?”
