In Paint shop during Painting, frequency (VFD) of exhaust blower is set to 45 Hz. But at idle condition frequency further reduced to 35 Hz. By this Motor Speed reduced by 22 %.So reduction of Power=(Speed)3 .

Theme: Eliminate Wooden packing for Excavator devices to Kharagpur Plant.

Present status: Jamshedpur Transmission supply devices for Excavators manufactured at Kharagpur plant. (About 200 Machines/month). Wooden boxes are used to pack the devices, which is not eco friendly and cost to the company.

Idea: Use obsolete metal frames for making steel pallet to transport devices without damage and reuse again

Enhancing life of Bucket by Periodic maintenance at West Bokaro in FMC .

Initiative was to reduce Carbon foot Print : Before this initiative the life of the Bucket of EX 2500 in Coal OB removal was 4500 Hours . Wear pattern of the Bucket was studied for 5000 hours of the life of Bucket and necessary modifications were done. Result : Bucket life increased from 4500 to 6000 hours.

CSR INITIATIVES• EDUCATION & LITERACY

• Provided infrastructure support to schools and educational assistance to students in the backward regions which benefited 2285 students.

• Provided scholarships to 371 underprivileged children. • Bus facility for 1075 school children at Kharagpur and Dharwad plant, • “Jagriti“ Inter school competition for harnessing and developing talent of underprivileged

Hindi medium school children. In 2003 started with two schools participation. In the last event 375 students from 9 schools participated in the events like Debate, Essay writing, singing & dancing, public speaking, etc. conducted by our Graduate Engineer Trainees

• “Utkarsh” coaching programme conducted by our GETs in mathematics and Science for the students of class 9th & 10th for 180 students of Gyandeep Vidyalaya, Jamshedpur.

• HEALTH CARE• Medical check up camp at Jamshedpur & Kharagpur which benefited 2424 school children

• Coached 32 ITI trainees, through computer literacy and soft skill development program called “SRIJAN”

• Imparted operating and servicing skills for Excavators and Backhoe loaders, and enhanced the employability of 188 local unemployed youth through the Operator Training Schools at Kharagpur & Dharwad. As a policy 50% of seats are kept for SC/ST candidates

• RURAL DEVELOPMENT• Provided assistance to 17 tribal families for enhancing cultivation of

crops.• Provided lift irrigation facility to enhance agriculture production.
