Trackmaster Plus Multi-ramp WhipstockTechnologyThe Trackmaster Plus whipstock’s patented mul-tiple ramp design enhances critical milling pro-cesses and facilitates a lower dogleg across the win-dow. Casing engagement and removal is optimized by matching the whipstock face and lead mill angles.

The Fast Cutout Ramp located at the top of the whip-• stock cradles the full gauge lead mill while running in the hole and produces the necessary kickoff angle to promptly initiate cutout. Whipstock Hinge SectionA one-way hinge incorporated into the Trackmaster Plus Wellbore Departure system provides a flex point when running through doglegs, and ensures the whipstock seats properly against the casing when set in deviatedhole sections.

Mill/Whipstock Hook-upThe Trackmaster Plus attachment system is designed to provide higher torque values while delivering reliable shear performance. The unique retention system allows up to three degrees of flex between the milling assem-bly and the whipstock, facilitating trouble-free passage through doglegs in the wellbore.

Trackmaster Plus One-trip Window Mills The key to successful and repeatable window milling per-formance is a well designed milling system. The compo-nents of a Trackmaster Plus Window Mill are the lead, follow and dress mill sections. The standard mill configu-ration is a tri-mill consisting of all three components. In some applications the dress mill is eliminated, resulting in the bi-mill design.

The lead mill is geometrically matched to the angles on the Trackmaster Plus Whipstocks to maximize cutting structure engagement with the casing while minimiz-ing the loads on the whipstock face. This results in di-recting the milling efficiency into the casing and not the whipstock. The lead mill is available with a variety of cutting structures for efficient and cost-effective perfor-mance.

The follow mill’s function is to elongate the win-dow. It utilizes Millmaster® carbide inserts with chip breaker feature for efficient casing removal.

The dress mill’s function is to condition the window, en-suring that subsequent assemblies can be deployed and retrieved through the window without problem.

Trackmaster Plus AnchorsTrackmaster Plus Anchors, whether hydraulically or me-chanically actuated, are extremely effective for securing the Trackmaster Plus Whipstocks in place during side-tracking operations. Cased hole anchors, except the Per-manent Packer and Thru-Tubing Anchor, are designed for dependable retrieval.

Running Tools and AccessoriesTRACkMASTER PluS OPEn HOlE WHiPSTOCk SySTEMis recommended for going around a fish or some other obstruction encountered during the drilling operation. Depend-ing on the nature of the fish, equipment for this departure can be configured for use with traditional tie-in type de-vices or inflatable packers/anchors. The Trackmaster Plus Open Hole System is also ideal for drilling TAML Level 1 open hole sidetracks. If using tie-in devices, the system can require multiple trips; one to engage the anchor and one or more to sidetrack and continue drilling.

Tie-In Systems are deployed on a specially designed shear sub that can transmit suf-ficient torque or fluid volumes to effec-tively anchor and orient the system. If us-ing an inflatable packer/anchor, a one-trip system can be employed. In either case, orientation of the whipstock face can be achieved by using the hydraulic swivel.

Trackmaster® Plus GeoTrack™ Whipstock SystemThe Trackmaster Plus GeoTrack System is a compre-hensive system designed to orient and anchor the whipstock, mill the window and drill a directional extended rathole in one trip. The GeoTrack System includes the necessary system components, engi-neering services and directional planning required for exiting the casing and directionally drilling the required hole section.

The whipstock system is lowered into the wellbore with the milling/drilling assembly. Once orientation has been completed, the Multi-Cycle Bypass Valve is closed to allow sufficient flow through the mud motor to set the Hydraulic Anchor. The mud mo-tor is restrained from rotation during this process by a motor lock-up system. Once the anchor has been set, the milling assembly is disconnected from the whipstock by upward pull, severing the shear bolt. Increased fluid flow releases the motor lock-up, allowing the motor to function freely. Once the window has been milled, conventional directional drilling practices are used.

The Smith Services OnPoint Orientation System reduces rig time in sidetracking operations by providing wireline-quality orientation six to eight times faster than with standard wireline systems.

The OnPoint System utilizes mud-pulse telemetry to update tool face orientation every 60 seconds. Because the OnPoint System is fully integrated with the Trackmaster Plus Wellbore Departure System, OnPoint reduces rig time by eliminating a trip into the hole.

The MX System of-fers a solid platform for the construction of level 3, level 4 and level 5 mul-tilateral junctions in new and re-entry wellbores. Millmaster Section Mill

The Millmaster* Section Mill is ideal for economical milling, sidetracking and single-string pipe cutting performance. Millmaster Section Mills utilize cus-tom blended carbide inserts, providing maximum footage and high rates of penetration. The con-tinuous chip breaker design generates steel cut-tings that can easily be circulated out of the hole with a minimum of specialized mud conditioning required.
