Look around the world today. The wars, natural disasters, and the wickedness of people all seem to be pointing to the return of Christ. There are some people who feel we are in the last days. Some even think Christ will return before this current generation passes away. What do you think? Are we near the return of Christ? There have been many movies portraying different end of time circumstances. The year 2,000 was a year many thought the world would come to an end. 12The End of All Things is at Hand

THE BIBLE WAY TO HEAVEN

Realize That God Loves You. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16).

The Bible Says That All Men Are Sinners. “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory to God.” (Romans 3:23).

God’s Word Also Says That Sin Must Be Paid For. “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 6:23).

The Good News Is That Christ Paid for Our Sins. “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8).

We Must Personally Pray and Receive Christ by Faith as Our Personal Saviour. The Bible Says, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13).

Think About It:

Beware of false teaching in these

last days.Think About It:

With more knowledge and

ability, comes more accountability.

We Must be Watchful (7) Peter reminds us to be watchful in these last days. He informs us to be sober. He means by this to be of a sound mind using sound judgment. The last days are going to be hard days. Our current days are hard days. There will be suffering, persecution, and much false teaching. A Christian must be on guard and alert. Peter tells us to watch unto prayer. This means we are alert and aware but calm and collect. We are not to worry though all the world around us is in turmoil. Read Romans 13:11, Matthew 26:41, and Luke 21:34-36. These verses warn of the end of times.

We must be a praying people. Prayer is our greatest tool against the enemy. Prayer is asking God to do what we ourselves cannot do. It is getting all the power of heaven involved in the affairs of men. Pray, pray, and again pray. We must watch unto prayer.

In these last days, Christians must be loving. Peter says, “above all things have fervent charity among yourselves.” Fervent means to boil, intense, earnest, or excited with love. There must be unity among Christians. Love is the highest and most important of all things. Christ said you could hang all the law and the prophets on two commandments, love God and your neighbor. Love is the fulfilling of the law. God is love and therefore Christians must be filled with love. We must love each other. There could be nothing worse than for the world to see bitterness, anger, and discord in the church among brothers and sisters in Christ. What a tragedy.

We Must be Loving (8-9)

“Live With Hope” a Study in I Peter” Lesson 12

Peter says that love covers a multitude of sin. Cover here means to wrap around like the bark on a tree. We see God’s love covering the sin of the world through Jesus Christ. Sin is not merely overlooked. It was the suffering death of Jesus Christ on the cross that makes a way for a sinner to find forgiveness. Sin has been punished. Jesus Christ took the punishment for you. God’s love can cover your sin, but you must believe on Jesus Christ as your Savior.

We Must Use Our Gifts (10-11)

What are we to use our gifts for? We are to use our gifts to minister to others. We hear the word minister often. What does it really mean? Minister means to serve or wait upon others. The emphasis is on the work to be done and not just on the relationship of the two. We have a responsibility to use our gifts to serve others. We are accountable to God for what He has gifted us with. With more knowledge and ability, comes more accountability to God. Why must we pray, love, and serve others? Verse eleven says, “that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ”. All we do is for God and His Glory. It is all about Him!
