announced that drilling has re-commenced at the Galiuro project in Arizona. Vale Exploration Canada Inc. (“VEC”), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Vale S.A. (“Vale”), is funding the work as part of an earn-in agreement signed in 2009. This phase of the drilling program will focus on the Fourmile target. A circular magnetic feature ringed by a strong conductive zone as identifi ed by a ZTEM airborne geophysical survey is targeted. Intense argillic alteration is known from rock exposures and prior drilling on the west side of the structure. Millrock has pre-collared the hole to a depth of 453 m using a reverse

circulation drill. At 427 m leach cap rocks with abundant hematite in Laramide - age andesite and quartz porphyritic intrusive rocks were identifi ed in drill cuttings. The leach cap indicates possible proximity to a porphyry copper deposit. Depending on results, the hole may be drilled to 2,000 m depth. A second hole may be drilled contingent upon results and budget. The target at the Galiuro property is a large porphyry copper +/- gold deposit hidden beneath alluvium and Tertiary volcanic cover, similar in magnitude to the nearby Resolution deposit, which is being developed by Rio Tinto and BHP Billiton. The property is situated at the intersection of the Resolution and San Manuel / Kalamazoo

porphyry copper trends. Because of the Tertiary volcanic cover, little exploration work has been previously done by other companies. Through careful geological mapping in combination with airborne magnetic and ZTEM geophysical surveys, Millrock has identifi ed numerous targets that may represent porphyry deposits. Prior drilling by Millrock and VEC resulted in the discovery of porphyry copper mineralization and alteration in Cretaceous-aged rocks hidden beneath Tertiary volcanic cover rocks. VEC has the option to earn a 60 percent interest in the project through exploration expenditures totaling US$3.5 million and payments of US$850,000. Upon completion of the current drill program, VEC will have expended at least US$3.5 million and will be in a position to exercise its option if it makes the remaining necessary cash payments. VEC may earn an additional 10 percent interest, for a total of 70 percent, by funding a feasibility study.Redhawk – San ManuelRedhawk Resources,

Inc. announced the results for four additional drill holes of the 2011 resource expansion and defi nition program and one hole from a new area of porphyry mineralization. 2011 Resource Expansion and Upgrade Drill Program The 2011 drill program is focused on increasing the connection between the Keel and American Eagle (AE) porphyry areas and infi ll drilling to move a considerable portion of the AE resource and more of the Keel resource into the Measured and Indicated categories in preparation for a Pre-Feasibility Study commencing early in 2012. Results from earlier drilling in the 2011 program were given in

news releases dated June 1, 2011 and September 12, 2011. The drill program is continuing with three core drills working 24/7 on the property. Assay results are pending on a number of completed holes. Assay results for holes, RAE-07-020 drilled vertical to total depth 3671 feet (1119m), RAE-08-029 drilled vertical to total depth 4108 feet (1252m), RAE-11-054 drilled N45W at -85 to total depth 3751 feet (1143m), and RMK-11-070 drilled vertical to total depth 3637 feet (1109m) have been received and signifi cant intervals are shown below. Holes RAE-11-054, which included a lengthy mineralized zone of 900 feet of 0.51 percent Cu and RMK-11-070 were step out holes designed to increase the connection of the Keel and AE deposits. Hole RAE-07-020, which intersected a signifi cant mineralized zone of 1927 feet of 0.48 percent Cu, is an infi ll resource upgrade hole in the AE, and hole RAE-08-029 is a step out hole at the SE margin of the existing AE resource. Redhawk believes the results from the infi ll and expansion holes reported above and previously will help not only in demonstrating the continuity of mineralization between the Keel and AE but should also increase the total resources of the combined deposits. Redhawk believes the drilling results from the three holes drilled from the REX-10-047 site west of the Keel resource boundary suggest the strong possibility of an area that can be developed into a new resource. It is also possible that the resource may connect with the existing Keel and AE porphyry resource. Additional drilling will be required in the new area and will be considered after the resource expansion and upgrade drilling in the 2011 drill program is completed. R. By Nolberto Waddell The Lady Lobo basketball team after taking their lumps at the Globe tournament came back strong winning two of their three scheduled games last week. The Lady Lobos were on the Globe High School gym on Tuesday, Dec. 6, taking on the Lady Tigers in the first of the three games. The game turned into a nail-biter! The Lady Lobos fell behind after a quarter of play trailing the Lady

Tigers 5-8 but they came on strong in the second quarter, dropping in 14 points to the Tigers’ eight to take a 19-16 lead at the halftime break. The cold weather must have gotten to both teams when very few basketballs went into the hoop in the third quarter with the Tigers making the score even at 22-22 at the end of the third quarter. The fourth quarter was a good one with both teams playing each other evenly until a technical foul was called on a Lady Tiger

Lady Lobos post two wins, one loss in hardwood actionplayer. Yvonnah Gonzales went to the free throw line sinking both technical foul shots for a 33-32 lead and held off the Lady Tigers to take the exciting win. Devin Estrada led Lady Lobo scoring with 10 points with Demitria Boltarez and Melissa Islava each getting nine points. Yvonnah Gonzales rounded out Lady Lobo scoring with five points. The Lady Lobos were on the Superior High School court on Thursday, Dec. 8, taking on a Lady Panthers team that did not have an answer to the Lady Lobo style of play. Every Lady Lobo player in uniform got into the game that never seemed in doubt for the Lobos. The Lady Lobos jumped out to a 9-2 lead after a quarter and never looked back on their way to a lopsided 42-21 win over the Lady Panthers. Yvonnah Gonzales, taking advantage of her tough rebounding, led Lady Lobo scoring with 13 points. After a slow start, Demitria Boltarez hit for 10 points with Melissa Islava adding six points. Devin Estrada had four points, Melinda Marinez had three points and Clarissa Chavez, Mary Lechuga and Karina Serrano each had two

points. The Lady Lobos were on the road again on Friday taking on the running and gunning Lady Braves of San Carlos High School. After running with the Braves in the first quarter trailing by 11-17, the Lady Lobo legs must have gotten tired going into a scoring drought getting only four points in each of the next two quarters to trail the running Braves by a score of 19-37. The lead was too much for the Lady Lobos to overcome losing the basketball game by a score of 27-47. Only four Lady Lobos were able to score in the game with Yvonnah Gonzales’ 11 points leading the way. Melissa Islava scored eight points with Demitria Boltarez scoring only six points after getting into foul trouble and sitting out for a majority of the game. Bianca Lopez rounded out Lobo scoring with two points. The Lady Lobos traveled to Kearny on Monday, Dec. 12, to take on the Lady Bearcats and had their first home game of the season when the Lady Knights of Immaculate Heart High School come to Lobo Gym on Tuesday, Dec. 13. Information

from these games was not available at press time. The Lady Lobos will be on the road again on Friday, Dec. 16, traveling to Tucson for their return match against the Lady Knights of Immaculate Heart. The Lady Lobo game starts with a 4:30 p.m. tip-off. The Lady Lobos will play again on Saturday, Dec. 17, traveling to Kearny to play in the Second Annual Ray Copper Invitational Basketball Tournament. They will play two games on Saturday taking on the Chandler Prep team at 8:30 a.m. and will play again at 6:40 p.m. taking on the Cibecue Lady Wildcats. The Lady Lobos will take Sunday off and will return

to Kearny on Monday to take on the Superior Lady Panthers in tournament play at 9 a.m. The Lady Lobos will round out tournament play with a contest against the Lady Bearcats on Tuesday, Dec. 20, with a 3:30 p.m. tip-off. The Lady Lobos will return to the regular schedule the next day taking on the San Manuel Lady Miners on Wednesday, Dec. 21, with a 4:30 tip-off on the Lobo court. After playing eight games in a 10-day span, the Lady Lobos will take a well deserved break with their next game scheduled after the holiday break on Jan. 10.

By Nolberto Waddell After a good showing at the Immaculate Heart tournament, the Lobo basketball team returned to regular season games last week without very much success losing all three of their games. The Lobos traveled to Globe High School on Dec. 6 to take on the Tigers. The game was lost almost as soon as it started when turnover after turnover and missed lay-ups after missed lay-ups led to a double digit lead for the Tigers after a quarter of play. Things did not get better for the Lobos in the first half trailing the Tigers 19-37 at the end of the half. The game got completely out of hand for the Lobos in the third quarter when the Tigers came out of the half time break on fire, outscoring the Lobos 10-28 in the quarter to take a commanding 36 point lead, 29-65. With a running clock to start the fourth quarter, the Tigers slowed down a bit but the Lobos could not take advantage still turning over the basketball and missing too many easy shots. The final score was 42-73. Adrian Ochoa, playing his usual tough defensive game, led Lobo scoring with 11 points with Julian Gomez chipping in 10 points. Rodney Ortiz hit three three-pointers for nine points and Roman Padilla had five points. Rounding out Lobo scoring were Matthew Marquez with three points and Marcos Gonzales and Gabriel Ramos with two points apiece. The Lobo JV game was a prelude to the varsity game with the Tiger JV breaking out to a 5-22 first quarter lead and never looked back winning the game with a score of 33-60. Rodney Ortiz led Lobo JV scoring with 13 points followed by six points from Gabriel Ramos. Steven Butler and

Matthew Martinez each had four points with Aaron Lagunas and John Silva hitting for three points apiece. The Lobos were on the road again on Thursday, Dec. 8, traveling to Superior High School for a contest against the Panthers. It was an exciting game for three quarters with the Lobos holding a slim three point lead over the Panthers for three quarters but the fourth quarter turned into a disaster for the Lobos when the Panthers turned it up a notch taking advantage of a group of Lobo players that started arguing amongst themselves allowing the Panthers many easy shots. The Lobo coaches tried as best they could to stop the arguing but the damage had been done as the Panthers out scored the Lobos 15-26 in the fourth quarter to win the game 55-63. Julian Gomez had a good game in the first half scoring 20 of his 25 points in the first half to lead Lobo scoring. Matthew Martinez had eight points with seven points coming from Matthew Manriquez and Adrian Ochoa. Marcos Gonzales scored six points with Roman Padilla getting two points. The JV Lobos made a good run at the Superior JV in a close game that ended in the Panthers’ favor with a score of 32-37. Gabriel Ramos led Lobo JV scoring with 14 points and Matthew Martinez added eight points. Rodney Ortiz had four points with John Silva hitting a three-pointer and Steven Butler getting a bucket for two points. Robert Sandoval had one point. Things did not get better for the Lobos having to travel to San Carlos the next day to play the running and gunning Braves of San Carlos High School. The Lobos hung

Marcos Gonzales led the Lobos in the scoring column, getting 11 points with Adrian Ochoa, playing another great defensive game, and Julian Gomez each getting eight points. Matthew Marquez had four points with Matthew Martinez getting

two points and Roman Padilla hustling hard on the defensive end getting one point. The JV Lobos also had their third defeat of the week losing to a running Braves JV team by a score of 26-50. The outmanned Lobos played hard but the Braves JV ran the Lobos into submission with their bigger in numbers team substituting a fresh team every four minutes. Rodney Ortiz led Lobo JV scoring with eight points and Jacob Lopez

adding six points. Steven Butler had four points with Gabriel Ramos and John Silva each getting three points. Robert Sandoval had two points. The Lobos were on the road again on Monday, Dec. 12, traveling to Kearny to take on the Ray Bearcats and had their first home game of the season when the Knights of Immaculate Heart High School came to Lobo Gym on Tuesday, Dec. 13. By Vicki Clark Students in the Hayden-Winkelman School District stood silent as the colors were presented in the beginning and stood with heads bowed while Taps were being played to end the Salute to the Troops Celebration last Wednesday afternoon in the High School Gym. The young people were given the opportunity to learn more about those who serve and have served in the military on the anniversary of a very important day in United States, Pearl Harbor Day. District Superintendent Jeff Gregorich served as Master of Ceremonies and opened the program with a brief history of that day, Dec. 7, 1941, when Pearl Harbor was attacked. An event “in infamy” that led to America’s participation in World War II. “Many young men and women died on that day and many more lost their lives fighting in World War II and other wars and conflicts throughout our history,” Gregorich said. “But many more came home. Today we are here to give a salute to all the men and women that service and protect our country and restore peace throughout the world.” Veterans in attendance were then invited to a special seating area on the gym’s floor as their names were called. Twenty-six veterans and active military, all from the community, were recognized. Also 10 soldiers who lost their lives while serving were remembered. Master Sergeant Willie Jordan, Commander of the Ray High School MCROTC, was then introduced. He spoke of his job to help prepare young men and women for military service. Sergeant Jordan brought with him his ROTC cadets who served as color guards at the opening of the program

The next speaker was Gerald Jones, a former teacher in the H-W District who also served in the military. Also addressing the students were Sergeant Wagner, Marine Corp Recruiter, and Sergeant Frank Giroux from the Arizona Military Order of the Purple Heart. Dave Lagunas, former educator and administrator in the H-W District, shared a few words for the soldiers past and present

and then presented the District with two special memorials honoring Richardo A. Contreras, U.S. Army, 1967, and Conrado Francisco Bilducia, Army, 1964, who were both killed in action in the Vietnam conflict. The plaques will be hung in the high school office. Students throughout the district were asked to write letters in a contest to show thanks to the military men and women serving away from home. All of the letters will be sent to those on active duty to show appreciation of their

sacrifices, especially at this time when they are away from their family and friends during the holiday season. A poster contest was also held. Contest winners include: Kindergarten Posters – Victor Sosa-Quintana, first; Alexis De Los Reyes, second; and Brooklyn Young 3rd. Clinical laboratory assistants perform phlebotomy, specimen processing, quality control, laboratory orientation and regulation under the supervision of physicians or laboratory scientists or

technologists. They also perform point-of-care and waived laboratory tests and procedures with a limited amount of supervision and prepare specimens for transport if necessary. The number of available positions in the clinical laboratory assistant course is limited; students must apply and be accepted into the program. Georgie Digs ...By Georgie Wood([email protected]) Back in 1982, 16 people with certain interests in the Elin Chiquito Allotment along Aravaipa Creek had given permission to my husband and me, and our neighbors, the Edward Newtons, to fence in a portion of the Allotment near the Aravaipa road in order to deter people from encroaching upon and degrading the part of the Allotment that adjoined the small creekside field my husband and I owned. It appeared on the agreement that each Mable Bendle and Janie Bullis Ferriera had the highest undivided 12/60 interest in the Allotment. I had wondered if any of these heirs of the Elin Chiquito Allotment were included with those heirs who agreed to the building in 2000 of the fish barriers on Aravaipa Creek by the Bureau of Reclamation (BOR) - of course, with the agreement of the San Carlos Agency, Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) - and I also wondered what their settlement amount would be. According to BOR’s response to a long and interesting September 7, 1998 letter during the public comment process that had been printed in BOR’s 1998 Final Environmental Assessment (EA), the negotiation for this acquisition was between BOR and BIA as Trustee for certain members of the San Carlos Apache Tribe; an appraisal has been prepared by BOR and is under review by BIA; the appraisal is confidential until the offer is accepted; under the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), Exemption 5, Privileged Information, BOR cannot reveal to the public the amount of compensation disclosed by the appraisal, which, if approved, will be the amount offered to tribal members for the acquisition; and once an agreement is reached and the appropriate documents are signed, public

disclosure of the settlement amount is permissible. Those who work in Government jobs are not immune from making mistakes! After I twice requested in 2007 the terms of the agreement between BOR and the Allotment heirs, Carol Lynn Erwin, BOR’s Phoenix-area Manager, replied that at the time of the public comment process associated with the 1998 EA for the construction of the fish barriers, BOR had been unaware of forthcoming legal restrictions on release of information regarding Indians and what they own, and that BOR erroneously responded through the EA that public disclosure of the agreement would be permissible once the ongoing negotiations were completed. This Department of the Interior-wide judicial restriction resulted from an ongoing lawsuit entitled “Cobell v. Secretary of the Interior.” After searching that, I read that lawsuit was the largest government class-action settlement in our nation’s history. An October of 2008 letter to me from BOR, Washington,DC stated that recent court decisions have given more discretion to release the lease agreement, and the lease agreement was enclosed for my information, but a copy of the agreement was NOT enclosed as the letter stated, and the date of the Aravaipa Creek flood of August 1, 2006 had the year as 2007! A follow-up letter from BOR did admit to the mistakes (after I wrote them!), and among the information blacked out and left out on the enclose copy of the agreement were page numbers six (6) through nine (9) which contained a list of the landowners’ names, enrollment numbers, and the amount of compensation paid to the landowners. Stated was “The information on these pages is considered proprietary by Department of Interior standards and has been removed from this document.”
