Demand remained very good for young feeding cows and heifers to run for rebreeds. As a result, feeder cows traded 5.00 to 10.00 higher. Buyer demand was very good on moderate to active trading activity.

Compared to last week: No price trend available as a result of no recent comparable sales, but a much higher undertone was noted on steers and heifers. Quality was very attractive, as there were several more packages and strings of long weaned calves that had both spring and fall shots on offer when compared to previous weeks. Slaughter and feeder cows traded 4.00 to 5.00 higher compared to two weeks ago. Slaughter bulls were mostly steady. Trading activity was active on good buyer demand. The supply consisted of 86 percent feeder cattle, 13 percent slaughter cows and bulls, and 1 percent replacement stock. The feeder cattle supply was comprised of approximately 64 percent steers and 36 percent heifers. Approximately 67 percent of the feeder supply weighed over 600 lbs.

Wednesday, December 11, 2013The market was higher this week as compared to last in all classes of cattle. Fat beef cows ranged from the upper 80’s to low 90’s. Lean beef cows were strong again ranging in the high 70’s to mid 80’s. Holstein weigh cows were also stronger than last week with a large supply of quality fat and lean cows. The fatter holstein cows averaged 83.50 And with lean holstein cows ranging in the upper 70’s to low 80’s. We had a nice representation of bred cows out of utah which ranged 2 to 8 yrs old, 1+ to 7 mos bred, broken to solid mouthed. A little something for everyone which averaged $1275.00/Head.
