ELECTRICAL SAFETY

TOOL USE AND CARE

• Feed the workpiece in the correct direction and speed. feedtheworkpieceintoablade,cutter,orabrasivesurfaceagainstthedirectionofthecuttingtool’sdirectionofrotationonly.Incorrectlyfeedingtheworkpieceinthesamedirectionmaycausetheworkpiecetobethrownoutathighspeed.

• Never leave the tool running unattended, turn the power off. Donotleavethetooluntilitcomestoacompletestop.

• Never start the power tool when any rotating component is in contact with the workpiece.

Always use properly fitting NIOSH/OSHA approved respiratory protection appropriate for dust exposure, and wash exposed areas with soap and water.

SERVICE

• Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement parts. Thiswillensurethatthesafetyofthepowertoolismaintained.

• Service your power tool periodically. Whencleaningatool,becarefulnottodisassembleanyportionofthetoolsinceinternalwiresmaybemisplacedorpinched.


EXTENSION COrDSGrounded tools require a three wire extension cord.Doubleinsulatedtoolscanuseeitheratwoorthreewireextensioncord.Asthedistancefromthepowersupplyoutletincreases,youmustuseaheaviergaugeextensioncord.usingextensioncordswithinadequatelysizedwirecausesaseriousdropinvoltage,resultinginlossofpowerandpossibletooldamage.Refertothetableshownbelowtodeterminetherequiredminimumwiresize.Thesmallerthegaugenumberofthewire,thegreaterthecapacityofthecord.forexample:a14-gaugecordcancarryahighercurrentthana16-gaugecord.Whenusingmorethanoneextensioncordtomakeupthetotallength,besureeachcordcontainsatleasttheminimumwiresizerequired.Ifyouareusingoneextensioncordformorethanonetool,addthenameplateamperesandusethesumtodeterminetherequiredminimumwiresize.

• Hold the tool by insulated gripping surfaces whenperforminganoperationwherethetoolmaycontacthiddenwiring.Contactwitha“live”wirewillmakeexposedmetalpartsofthetool“live”andshocktheoperator.

• DANGEr! Keep hands away from cutting area and blade. Keepyoursecondhandonauxiliaryhandle,ormotorhousing.Ifbothhandsareholdingthesaw,theycannotbecutbytheblade.Keepyourbodypositionedtoeithersideofthesawblade,butnotinlinewiththesawblade.KICKBACKcouldcausethesawtojumpbackwards.(See“CausesandoperatorPreventionofKickback”)Donotreachunderneaththework.Theguardcannotprotectyoufromthebladebelowthework.Donotattempttoremovecutmaterialwhenbladeismoving.

CAUTION: Bladescoastafterturnoff.Waituntilbladestopsbeforegraspingcutmaterial.• Check lower guard for proper closing before each use.Donotoperatesawiflower

guarddoesnotmovefreelyandcloseinstantly.Neverclamportiethelowerguardintotheopenposition.Ifsawisaccidentallydropped,lowerguardmaybebent.RaisethelowerguardwiththeRetractingLeverandmakesureitmovesfreelyanddoesnottouchthebladeoranyotherpart,inallanglesanddepthsofcut.Tochecklowerguard,openlowerguardbyhand,thenreleaseandwatchguardclosure.AlsochecktoseethatRetractingLeverdoesnottouchtoolhousing.LeavingbladeexposedisVeRYDANGeRouSandcanleadtoseriouspersonalinjury.

• Check the operation and condition of the lower guard spring. Iftheguardandthespringarenotoperatingproperly,theymustbeservicedbeforeuse.Lowerguardmayoperatesluggishlyduetodamagedparts,gummydeposits,orabuildupofdebris.

• Lower guard should be retracted manually only for special cuts suchas“PocketCuts”and“CompoundCuts.”Raiselowerguardbyretractingthelever.Assoonasbladeentersthematerial,lowerguardmustbereleased.forallothersawing,thelowerguardshouldoperateautomatically.

• Always observe that the lower guard is covering the blade beforeplacingsawdownonbenchorfloor.Anunprotected,coastingbladewillcausethesawtowalkbackwards,cuttingwhateverisinitspath.Beawareofthetimeittakesforthebladetostopafterswitchisreleased.

• NEVEr hold piece being cut in your hands or across your leg.Itisimportanttosupporttheworkproperlytominimizebodyexposure,bladebinding,orlossofcontrol.

• When ripping, always use a rip fence or straight edge guide.Thisimprovestheaccuracyofcutandreducesthechanceforbladebinding.

• Always use blades with correct size andshape(diamondvs.round)arborholes.Bladesthatdonotmatchthemountinghardwareofthesawwillruneccentrically,causinglossofcontrol.

• Never use damaged or incorrect blade washers or bolts.Thebladewashersandboltwerespeciallydesignedforyoursaw,foroptimumperformanceandsafetyofoperation.

• Causes and operator prevention of Kickback:Kickbackisasuddenreactiontoapinched,boundormisalignedsawblade,causinganuncontrolledsawtoliftupandoutoftheworkpiecetowardtheoperator.

*Whenthebladeispinchedorboundtightlybythekerfclosingdown,thebladestallsandthemotorreactiondrivestheunitrapidlybacktowardtheoperator.

*Ifthebladebecomestwistedormisalignedinthecut,theteethatthebackedgeofthebladecandigintothetopsurfaceofthewoodcausingthebladetoclimboutofthekerfandjumpbacktowardtheoperator.

*Kickbackistheresultoftoolmisuseand/orincorrectoperatingproceduresofconditionsandcanbeavoidedbytakingproperprecautionsasgivenbelow:

>MaintainafirmgriponthesawandpositionyourbodyandarminawaythatallowsyoutoresistKICKBACKforces.KICKBACKforcescanbecontrolledbytheoperator,ifproperprecautionsaretaken.

ASSEMBLY AND ADJUSTMENTS

WArNING: Always be sure that the tool is switched off and unplugged before adjusting, adding accessories, or checking a function on the tool.

WArNING: 7-1/4” is the maximum blade capacity of your saw. Never use a blade that is too thick to allow the outer flange washer to fit properly on the spindle. Too thick a blade will prevent the blade bolt from securing the blade on the spindle. Larger diameter blades will contact the blade guards. Either situation could result in a serious accident.

BLADE INSTALLATION ( FIG 2 )• unplugyourcircularsaw.• Depressthespindlelock(19).• usingthebladewrench(a)provided,removethebladebolt

(13)byturningitcounterclockwise.• Removetheouterflangewasher(13b).• Liftthelowerguard(2)andslidethebladeontothespindle.

• Securethebasebytighteningthelever.

BEVEL ANGLE ADJUSTMENT• Loosentheclampknobatthebevelscaleplateonthefrontofthesawbase.• Tiltthesawbaseuntilthedesiredgraduationonthebevelscalealignswiththeindicatorlineonthestationary

bevelbracket.• Tightentheclampknobsecurely.• Alwaysmakeatestcutinscraplumberandmeasurethecutangletoconfirmthebevelangleissetproperly;if

necessary,adjustthebevelangleappropriatelybeforecuttingtheworkpiece.

INSTALLING THE RIP GUIDE Whencuttinglumberlengthwiseyouareusuallycutting“with”thewood’sgrainratherthenacrossthegrain.Cutting“with”thegrainofwoodiscalled“ripping”oraripcut.Sinceripcutstendtobelengthyitcanbedifficulttoaccuratelyfollowtheguidelinetheentiredistanceofthecut.Toassisttheoperatortoobtainastraightripcut,astraightedgecanbeclampedtotheworkpieceorthesuppliedripguidecanbeused.Toinstalltheripguideonyoursaw,performthefollowingsteps.

• unplugyourcircularsaw.• Inserttheripguidethroughallthreeslotsonthesawbaseatthefrontofthesaw,startingwithslotinthe

rightsideedgeofthebase.• Slidetheguidethroughtheslotsuntilitextendsouttheleftsideofthebase.• Adjusttheripguideforthedesiredwidthofcutandthensecurelytightenthethumbscrewinthecenterslotto

holdtheripguideinposition.

WArNING: To avoid personal injury and damage to the workpiece, extend the rip guide through all slots on the base.

OPErATION

STARTING AND STOPPING THE SAW

WArNING: Before plugging in the tool, always check to see that the tool is switched off. Accidently starting the saw could cause personal injury.

To Start the Saw,depressandholdthelock-offbutton,thendepressthetriggerswitch.

NOTE: Alwaysletthebladereachfullspeedbeforeguidingthesawintotheworkpiece.

WArNING: The blade coming into contact with the workpiece before reaching full speed, could cause your saw to KICKBACK towards you resulting in serious personal injury.

To Stop the Saw, releasetheswitch.Allowthebladetocometoacompletestop.

CROSS-CUTTING AND RIP CUTTINGCuttingdirectlyacrossthegrainofapieceofwoodiscalledcrosscuttingandislikelythemostcommontypeofcutdonewithacircularsaw.Cuttingwoodlengthwise,or“with”thegrain,iscalledripcutting.However,it’smostoftenreferredtosimplyasripping.Bothtypesofcutsareperformedinthesamemannerwiththeexceptionofthemethodsusedtosupportandsecuretheworkpieceforcutting.Afteryouhavesecuredtheworkpieceinpositionwithclampsorsimilardevices,preparedtheworkarea,positionedthecordsoitwon’tbecutorbecomehungup,performedthesawsetupadjustments,madethenecessarymeasurements,drawnastraightguideline,andputonyoureyeprotection,youcanbeginthecuttingoperation.

• Assurez-vous toujours que la protection inférieure couvre la lame avantdeposerlasciesurunétabliouparterre.unelamequitourneencoreetnonprotégéepeutavoirpourconséquenceunmouvementdereculdelascie,etcoupertoutcequisetrouvesursonpassage.Soyezconscientsdutempsqu’ilfautpourquelalames’arrêteunefoisquevousavezrelâchél’interrupteuràgâchette.

MONTAGE ET rÉGLAGES

AVErTISSEMENT: Pour réduire le risque de graves blessures corporelles, lisez et suivez toutes les instructions et avertissements de sécurité avant d'utiliser cet outil.

AVErTISSEMENT: 185 mm, soit 7-1/4”, est la capacité maximale de votre scie. N’utilisez jamais une lame qui est trop épaisse pour permettre à la rondelle de bride extérieure de se monter correctement sur l’arbre. Une lame trop lame empêchera le boulon de lame de bien la fixer sur l’arbre. Les lames de diamètre supérieur toucheraient les protections de lame. Dans les deux cas il peut en découler de graves accidents.

AVErTISSEMENT: Pour éviter des blessures et ne pas endommager la pièce, étendez le guide de refente au travers de tous les trous de la base.

FONCTIONNEMENTDÉMARRAGE ET ARRÊT DE LA SCIE

AVErTISSEMENT: Avant de brancher l’outil, toujours vérifier que l’interrupteur est en position « OFF » (ArrÊT). Accidentellement démarrage la scie peut entraîner des blessures.

Pour mettre la scie en MARCHE,appuyersurleboutondeverrouillagesansrelâcheretpresserlagâchettedeinterrupteur.

REMARQUE: Laisseztoujourslalameprendresapleinevitesseavantdeguiderlasciedanslapièceàcouper.AVErTISSEMENT: La lame entrant en contact avec la pièce avant d’avoir

atteint toute sa vitesse peut provoquer un rEBOND renvoyant la scie vers vous, d’où un risqué de sérieuses blessures.

Pour l’ARRÊTER la scie,relâcherlagâchettedeinterrupteur.Laissezlalames’arrêtercomplètement.

REMARQUE: Nesortezpasvotresciedelapiècecoupéetempsquesalamen’estpasimmobile.

APLICATIONS

AVErTISSEMENT:Pour rendre le sciage plus facile et plus sûr, assurez-vous de déplacer la scie vers l’avant doucement en ligne droite. Le fait de forcer ou de tourner l’outil entraînerait une surchauffe du moteur et un possible rEBOND dangereux, avec risque de sérieuses blessures.

• Relâchezlagâchetted’interrupteur.Attendezquelalamesoitcomplètementarrêtée.Vérifiezquelagardeinférieureestbienrevenueenpositionpourentourerlalame.Maintenantvouspouvezsansdangersortirlasciedelapiècetravailléeetlaposeràl’écart.

• Pourobtenirdescoupesnettes,suiveztoutdroitvotrelignedeguidageetprogressezàvitesserégulière.• Silacoupenesuitpascorrectementvotrelignedeguidageprévue,n’essayezpasdedévierl’outiletde

forcerunretoursurlalignedecoupethéorique.enagissantainsivouspouvezdéformerlalameetamenerunrebonddangereuxavecpossibleblessuregrave.Aulieudeçarelâchezlagâchetted’interrupteur,attendezquelalames’arrêtedetourner,puisenlevezl’outil.Réalignezlasciesurunenouvellelignedeguidagedecoupeetrecommencezl’opérationdecoupe.
