130616 a man to admire hebrews 11 32-38 abridged
DESCRIPTION
Sermon presented by Dale Wells at Palm Desert Church of Christ on 6/16/2013.TRANSCRIPT
I am a Jew, born in Tarsus of Cilicia, but brought up in this city. Under Gamaliel I was thoroughly trained in the law of our fathers and was just as zealous for God as any of you are today.
They dragged Stephen out of the city and began to stone him. Meanwhile, the witnesses laid their clothes at the feet of a
young man named Saul.
Served faithfully for 33 years. Beheaded in 67 A.D. by Nero
at the age of only 57

He was willing to embrace life-
altering change
He was willing to give up
everything for Jesus
But whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things.
I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ--the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith.
I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead.
The focus of his preaching was Jesus Centered
For I resolved to know nothing while I was with
you except Jesus Christ and Him
crucified.
His theological focus was: Grace
& Faith rather than
Law & Works
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast. Ephesians 2:8-9

He was faithful, even to the point
of death
For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time
has come for my departure. I have
fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
