Note: This cooktop is manufactured foruse with Natural gas. To convert toLR/Propane gas, see instructions in theGas Conversion Kit provided in literaturepackage.

Proper gas suppJy connection must beavailable. See "Gas supply requirements,"Page 4.

Proper installation is your responsibility.Have a qualified technician install thiscooktop.Make sure you have everythingnecessary for correct installation. It is theresponsibility of the installer to complywith the installation clearances specifiedon the model/serial rating plate. Themodel/serial rating plate can be found onthe underside of the cooktop burner box.

Check location where cooktop will beinstalled. The location should be awayfrom strong draft areas, such as windows, doors and strong heating vents or fans.

Do not obstruct flow of combustion andventilation air.

All openings in the wall or floor where thecooktop is to be installed must be sealed.

When installing a cooktop under existingcabinets and the installation does not

meet the minimum cabinet clearances,

install a range hood above the cooktop toavoid burn hazards.

Electdcat ground is required. See"Electrical Requirements," Pages 4-5.

Use a new AGA or CSA approvedgas supply line.Install a shut-off valve.

Securely tighten a_t gascon nections.

If connected to LP, have aqualified person make sure gaspressure does not exceed 14"water column.

Examples of a quamified personinclude licensed heatingpersonnel, authorized gascompany personnel_ andauthorized service personnelFailure to do so can result indeath, explosion, or fire.

Observe all governing codes andordinances,Important: Cooktop must be connectedto a regulated gas supply,

A RThis installation must conform with

local codes and ordinances. In theabsence of local codes, installations mustconform with American NationalStandard, National Fuel Gas Code ANSIZ22&1 --latest edition** or CANI --B149.1 or 2**.

BE Input ratings shown on the

model/serial rating plate are for elevationsup to 2,000 feet (610 m). For elevationsabove 2,000 feet (610 m), ratings arereduced at a rate of 4% for each 1,000feet (305 m) above sea level.

EThe cooktop is equipped for usewith NATURAL gas. It is design-certifiedby CSA International for NATURAL andLR gases with appropriate conversion. The model/serial rating plate, located onthe underside of the burner box, hasinformation on the type of gas that can beused. If this information does not agreewith the type of gas available, check withthe local gas supplier. See Page 2 for LRgas conversion instructions.

mProvide a gas supply line of 3/4"rigid pipe to the cooktop location. Asmaller size pipe on long runs may resultin insufficient gas supply. Pipe-jointcompounds, suitable for use with L.R gas, must be used. With LR gas, piping ortubing size can be 1/2" minimum. LR gassuppliers usually determine the size andmaterials used on the system.

E mIf local codes permit, a new AGA or

CSA design-certified, 4-5 foot (! .2-1.5 m)long, 1/2" or 3/4" I.D., flexible metalappliance connector is recommended forconnecting this cooktop to the gas supplyline. Do Not kink or damage the flexibleconnector when moving the cooktop. Thepressure regulator has 3/8" female pipethreads. You will need to determine thefittings required, depending on the size ofyour gas supply line, flexible metalconnector and shutoff valve.

F lineEThe supply line shall be equipped

with an approved shutoff valve. This valveshould be located in the same room asthe cooktop and should be in a locationthat allows ease of opening and closing.Do Not block access to the shutoff valve. The valve is for turning on or shutting offgas to the appliance.

G.if rigid pipe __

is used as a gassupply line, a combination of pipe Illfittings must be used to obtain an in-lineconnection to the cooktop. All strainsmust be removed from the supply andfuel lines so cooktop will be level and inline.

mThe regulator must be checked ata minimum 1-inch (2.5 cm) water columnabove the set pressure. The inlet pressureto the regulator should be as follows foroperation and checking the regulatorsetting:

NATURAL GAS:Set pressure 4 inches (10.2 cm).Supply pressure 7-14 inches (17.8 cmto 35.5 cm) maximum.L.P. GAS:Minimum pressure 10 inches (28.4 cm).Supply pressure 14 inches (38.8 cm).

mLine pressure testing:Testing above 1t2 psi (3.8 kPa)(14 inches (38.6 cm)) W.C. (gauge)The cooktop and its individual shutoffvalve must be disconnected from the gassupply piping system during any pressuretesting of that system at test pressuresgreater than 1/2 psig (3.5kPa).

Testing below 1t2 psi (3.8 kPa)(14 inches (38.6 cm)) WoC.(gauge) orlowerThe cooktop must be isolated from thegas supply piping system by closing itsindividual manual shutoff valve during anypressure testing of the gas supply pipingsystem at test pressures equal to or lessthan 1/2 psig (3.5 kPa).

Electrical Shock Hazard

Plug into a grounded 3-prongoutlet.

Do not remove ground prong.

Do not use an adapter.Failure to follow theseinstructions can result in death, fire, or emectricamshock.

tf codes permit and a separate groundwire is used, it is recommended that aqualified electrician determine that theground path is adequate.

Check with a qualified electrician ifyou are not sure whether the cooktopis properly grounded.Do Not ground to a gas pipe.

A 120-volt, 60-Hz, AC-only, 15-ampere,fused electrical supply is required. Atime-delay fuse or circuit breaker isrecommended. It is recommended that aseparate circuit serving only thisappliance be provided.

a. Turn control to "LiTE" until burnerignites.

b. Quickly turn knob down to LOWESTPOSITION.

c. If burner goes out, readjust valve asfollows:

Remove the surface burner control knob.Insert a flat-blade screwdriver into thehollow valve stem and engage the slottedscrew. Flame size can be increased ordecreased by turning the screw. Adjustflame until you can quickly turn knob from"LITE" to LOWEST POSITION withoutextinguishing the flame. Flame should beas small as possible without going out.
