History of Mount Pleasant, North Carolina
Mount Pleasant was founded in 1848 and has been a model example of small town America ever since. We are home of the Eastern Cabarrus Historical Museum. In the 1800’s the Museum was originally the administrative building of the all-male Mount Pleasant Collegiate Institute. The building has been restored to its original beauty and houses many exciting and interesting treasurers of our community. In 1859, Mount Pleasant was also home of a women’s college called Mount Amoena Seminary. In the early 1800’s, Mount Pleasant was the "comfort station" for the wagons that traveled from Concord to Salisbury. In 1833, the name of the Town was "Walker Store" then changed to Mount Comfort. In 1848, the town became Mount Pleasant. Our Town is also located near Reed Gold Mine, the site where gold was first discov-ered in America. Reed Gold Mine is approximately 5 miles from Mount Pleasant and a wonderful place to visit while you are in the area. During your visit to our Town, we encourage you to tour the Eastern Cabarrus His-torical Museum and walk through our historical downtown area while you enjoy an ice cream cone or fountain drink from local merchants. There are two small parks in our historic area for the young children to enjoy and tables for family picnics.

History of Charlotte, North Carolina
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Charlotte is the largest city in the state of North Carolina and the seat of Mecklenburg County. In 2009, Charlotte's population was estimated to be 716,874, making it the 19th largest city in the United States. A resident of Charlotte is referred to as a Charlottean. Nicknamed the Queen City, Charlotte (as well as the county containing it) is named in honor of the German Princess Charlotte of Mecklenburg, who had become queen consort of British King George III the year before the city's founding. A second nickname derives from later in the 18th century. During the American Revolutionary War, British commander General Cornwallis occupied the city but was driven out soon afterwards by hostile residents, prompting him to write that Charlotte was "a hornet's nest of rebellion," leading to another city nickname: The Hornet's Nest. In 2009, the Charlotte metropolitan area had an estimated population of 1,725,759. The Charlotte metropolitan area is part of a wider thirteen-county labor market region or combined statistical area that has an estimated population (as of 2007) of 2,277,074. In 2008, Charlotte was chosen the "Best Place to Live in America" by relocate-america.com in its annual ranking, based on factors including employment opportunities, crime rates, and housing affordability. It was also named #8 of the 100 "Best Places to Live and Launch" by CNNMoney.com - cities picked for their vibrant lifestyles and opportunities for new businesses.
