ll praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the Alameen. May His peace and Ablessings be upon our noble prophet Muhammad (salalllahu alayhi wasalaam), his household, his companions and all those who follow his

laid path till the day of judgement.

Here is another edition of Layth’s List again for this week. We trust it meets you well? A lot of feedbacks in praise, questions and suggestions reached us last week about the maiden edition. We sincerely appreciate all those who took their time out to send us their feedbacks, may Allah reward every one of us abundantly.

Among what we were asked were questions regarding the inner workings of Layth and the reason exactly why this listicle was established; it is published for no reason except to publicize benecial Islamic posts featured across the social media and the wider internet every week, with a new concept.

Sadly, the number of benecial posts making the round of the internet every week probably equals the number of ignorant Muslims who knows little or nothing about their religion, but who are restricted to their own social media circles within the circle of their (presumably) ignorant online friends. Layth’s List was created to bridge this gap. It can be sent to anybody virtually through any platform (by its download link) and the messages therein can get to the even the most remote Muslim wallowing in innocent ignorance on any corner of the internet.

In mind, this listicle was created to serve as a learning medium, and at the same time, to present the posts it is covering in the most familiar and easy formats possible for its intended readers. We have no doubt the concept is working in this aspect in shaa Allah.

Reader, any learning process is rewarded by Allah. A Muslim gets reward for any benecial knowledge shared, and even more so when this knowledge is put to practice. If someone subscribes to this list through you, you get rewarded on every edition he benets from afterwards. This should be your mindset when you are asked to share authentic religious writings and not the fear of being used. We hope you will seek to get the bountiful reward associated with sharing knowledge by sharing this listicle as much as possible. The posters featured therein are making sense.

As an aside, some commented last week on why Facebook posts dominated the list. Facebook is arguably the biggest and the most frequently used social media platform by Muslims the world over, and in fact, we get overwhelmed by the sheer amount of choices therein ourselves. Also, many user nd their Facebook accounts easier to manage and so prefer to post on it more frequently than their blogs (if they have one). In any case, we are still building our blog database, those blog address currently registered with us are not updated or contain contents we are not satised with to make the list. Apart from the social media and website entries, we hope blog post entries will also increase with time.

For those nding it difcult to use the link buttons, Note that Layth’s List is best enjoyed with Adobe PDF reader. However, any other reader apart from the one giving any user problems can also work ne ( in case the user lack Adobe PDF reader); there is really a lot from which to choose in that aspect.

Layth List e-magazine is run by group of dedicated volunteers. The continued weekly production of the magazine is sustained through donations and advertisements in the magazine. All proceeds generated by the magazine are put back in the production of more contents for our numerous readers who access the magazine at no cost.

He even agreed that theChristmas tree is a pagan symbol. It turned out that he is aChristianandbelievesthatJesusisgod,soIgavehimmybusinesscardandtoldhimthatthistopicrequiresanotherconversationoveracoffee. Onmywayout,Imadesuretogoandshakehishandandremindedhimtocontactme.

So,theintentionofanactmightbegoodwhiletheactionmightnotbelegislated,whichofcourserenderstheintentionirrelevant.Justastheactionmightbelegislatedwhiletheintentionisfaulty,whichallthingsbeingequalalsorenderstheactionnullandvoid.(Endofquote)

Moreover,weallremembertheauthenticnarrationofthethreecompanions who almost fell into innovations, their intentionswereindeedgoodbuttheactstheydesiredtoperformwasnotestablished.

So,whatisnecessaryistofirstchecktheestablishmentoftheactofworshipthroughthehadeethofAaishahwhichdealswiththeapparent actions before then applying the hadeeth of Umarwhich deals with the hidden actions (the intentions). Else theessenceoftawqeefiyyahofibaadaatwillbedefeated.

We really need to hold on to these two principles whenestablishingactsofworshipinIslaam.

PraisebetoAllahFirstly:

itisnotpermissible,whenformingapartnership,toagreethattheownerofthecapitalwillgetacertainpercentageofhiscapital,orasetamount.Ratherhisshareshouldbeapercentageoftheprofit,suchassaying:Youwillget3%oftheprofit.

Butifitissaidtohim:Youwillget3%ofyourcapital,oryouwillgetonehundredandfiftydollars,thisrendersthepartnershipinvalid.If,combinedwiththat,hiscapitalisguaranteed(andhewillnotloseanyofit),asyoumentioned,thenthistransactionisariba-basedloan.

IbnQudaamah(mayAllahhavemercyonhim)said:Iftheshareofoneofthepartnersissetasaspecificamountofmoney,orasumofmoneyissetalongwithhisshare–suchasifhestipulatesthathewillhaveapercentageplustendirhams,thepartnership becomes invalid. Ibn al-Mundhir said: All of thescholarsfromwhomI learnedareagreedthatthemudaarabahpartnership is invalidated ifoneorbothof themstipulate thattheywill have a certain amountofmoney.Among those fromwhomwe learned that areMaalik, al-Awzaa'i, al-Shaafa'i, AbuThawrandAshaabal-ra'y.Endquote.Shaykhal-IslamIbnTaymiyahsaid:READFULLARTICLE

Andfromthemaresomewhoaccuseyou(OMuhammad)inthematter of (the distribution of) the alms. If they are given partthereof, they are pleased, but if they are not given thereof,behold!Theyareannoyed!”

Meaning, he only befriends you because he finds pleasure inspeakingwithyouandassociatingwithyouandbeingwithyou.Howeverhedoesnotbenefitfromyounordoyoubenefitfromhim.Neitherofyoubenefittheother.Itisnothingexceptawasteof time. Regarding this one, you should also beware that hewastesyourtime!

TheChristmastreeisoneofthesymbolsoftheChristianfestivalandcelebration;thisiswhyitisnamedforChristmas.Itissaidthatit was first officially used as a symbol in this manner in thesixteenthcenturyinGermany,intheCathedralofStrasbourgin1539CE.

Itisnotpermissibletoimitatethekuffaarinanyoftheiractsofworship,ritualsorsymbols,becausetheProphet(blessingsandpeaceofAllahbeuponhim)said:“Whoeverimitatesapeopleisoneofthem.”NarratedbyAbuDawood,4031;classedassaheehbyal-AlbaaniinIrwa'al-Ghaleel,5/109

SoitisnotpermissibletoputupthistreeinaMuslimhouseevenifyou do not celebrate Christmas, because putting up this treecomesundertheheadingofimitatingothersthatisharaam,orvenerating and showing respect to a religious symbol of thekuffaar.Whattheparentsmustdoisprotecttheirchildrenandkeepthemawayfromwhat isharaam, andprotectthemfromtheFireasAllah,mayHebeexalted,says(interpretationofthemeaning)”

“O you who believe! Ward off yourselves and your familiesagainstaFire(Hell)whosefuelismenandstones,overwhichare(appointed) angels stern (and) severe,whodisobey not, (fromexecuting)theCommandstheyreceivefromAllaah,butdothatwhichtheyarecommanded”

[al-Tahreem66:6]

ItwasnarratedfromIbn'Umar(mayAllahbepleasedwithhim)thattheProphet(blessingsandpeaceofAllahbeuponhim)said:“Eachofyouisashepherdandeachofyouisresponsibleforhisflock.Therulerofthepeopleisashepherdandisresponsibleforhis flock. A man is the shepherd of his household and isresponsible for his flock. A woman is the shepherd of herhusband'shouseandchildrenandisresponsibleforherflock.Theslaveistheshepherdofhismaster'swealthandisresponsibleforit.Eachofyouisashepherdandeachofyouisresponsibleforhisflock.”

Al-Bukhaari,7138;Muslim,1829.

Al-Bukhaari(7151)andMuslim(142)alsonarratedthatMa'qilibnYasaaral-Muzani(mayAllahbepleasedwithhim)said:IheardtheMessengerofAllah(blessingsandpeaceofAllahbeuponhim)say:“ThereisnopersonwhomAllaahputsinchargeofothers,andwhenhediesheisinsinceretohissubjects,butAllaahwillforbidParadisetohim.”

YoushouldexplaintoyourdaughterthatitisharaamtoimitatethedisbelieversandthatitisobligatorytodifferfromthosewhoaredoomedtoHellandtodislikewhattheyvenerateofclothing,symbolsorrituals,soastodeveloprespectforherownreligionandadheretoit,practisingtheprincipleofloyaltyandfriendshipasopposedtodisavowalandenmity(al-wala'wa'l-bara')whichisone of the cornerstones of Tawheed and one of the basicprinciplesoffaith.
