Day 6 Hafnarfjörður, Reykjavík, Iceland - 7:00am to 7:00pm

Iceland’s capital and largest city is located on the country’s southwest coast at the head of Faxafloi Bay, around 60% of Iceland’s total population resides here. Reykjavik has grown into an important seaport and centre of government and education with theatres, museums and observatories. Interestingly, this modern city still chooses to use water from nearby hot springs to heat all of its buildings. The town got its name “Smoky Bay” after the columns of steam that rose from the hot springs in the area and made such a deep impression on the first settlers. You’ll also discover a buzzing culinary scene with many restaurants offering an outstanding culinary experience.

Day 7 Ísafjörður, Iceland - 9:00am to 6:00pm

Situated just below the Arctic Circle, Isafjördur is the largest town in the Westfjords region of Iceland. It sits on a gravel spit that stands out into the Skutulsfjördur flanked on three sides by towering mountains. There are only three roads leading out of the town and all are through tunnels. The Maritime Museum traces the life and history of the settlement where fishing has been, and remains, the area’s main source of income. The Westfjords region is a nature lover’s paradise and a popular excursion (not included) visits the magical island of Vigur, which is home to a large eider duck colony and vast bird population.



Day 8 Akureyri, Iceland - 8:00am to 7:00pm

Akureyri lies at the head of the 60-kilometre long Eyjafjördur, which is the longest fjord in Iceland. The capital of the north, which was founded as a trading post, is today an attractive town with colourful houses and well-kept gardens. It is also home to both the northernmost botanical garden and northernmost golf course in the world. Optional excursions highlight Iceland’s extraordinary landscapes including surreal rock formations, the lunar-like pseudo-craters at Skutastadir and the stunning, crescent-shaped Godafoss Waterfall. Laufas Folk Museum, or Myvatn Nature Baths, Iceland’s newest spa, are relaxing alternatives.



Day 9 Seyðisfjörður, Iceland - 12:00pm to 8:00pm

A small town consisting of around 700 inhabitants, Seyðisfjörður lies on the eastern coast of Iceland.

The town is incased by snow-capped mountains and you’ll find significant landmarks Mt. Bjolfur to the west and Strandartindur (1010m) to the east, both of which are a part of Iceland’s seven peak hike. Keep an eye out for Reindeers, seals and porpoises as you enter the port. The town has a vibrant cultural scene. There is a residence in the town dedicated to the Artist Dieter Roth. Along with this, Seyðisfjörður also has; an art studio, a telecommunications museum, an arts centre, one of the two cinemas in East Iceland.



Day 10 At Sea



Day 11 Klaksvik, Faroe Islands - 7:00am to 5:00pm - Torshavn, Faroe Islands - Arrive at 8:30pm

Klaksvík is the second largest town of the Faroe Islands. The town is located on Borðoy , which is one of the northernmost isles. Klaksvík is the second-largest town in the Faroe Islands with a population of 4,800 inhabitants. Klaksvík is the fishing capital of the Faroes, and the fishing industry sets its notable mark on the town. Down by the quay, you can experience the atmosphere of the small open-deck boats that set out to sea. Klaksvík is also known for its vibrant music scene, so keep an eye out for a concert when you visit the town. Depart for Torshavn later this afternoon, for an evening arrival at 8:30pm.

Day 12 Torshavn, Faroe Islands - Depart at 4:00pm

Once the site of an annual Viking gathering, Tórshavn is today one of the smallest and most pleasant capital cities in the world. It sits on the southern tip of Streymoy, one of eighteen islands in the Faroese archipelago. Tinganes is the old part of the town where characteristic, red wooden buildings with turf-covered roofs cluster on a narrow peninsula. It juts into the natural harbour around which the modern town has been built. The Faroe Islands have a wild and dramatic landscape, which is a magnificent backdrop to optional excursions showing how islanders live on this remote and unspoiled archipelago.



Day 13 At Sea



Day 14 Liverpool, England - 9:45am to 8:00pm

Liverpool is a major port and city in England’s Merseyside with a population upwards of half a million. The cruise port is located along River Mersey Estuary’s eastern side. Famous for the Beatles, the city attracts many visitors to follow in their footsteps from the first gig in the Tavern to international stardom. Liverpool is also home to two of Europe’s top football clubs, Everton FC and Liverpool FC, football obsession is deeply ingrained in the area. Liverpool Cathedral, World Museum and St George’s hall are amoungst other worthy attractions you may like to take in.

TOUR GUIDE VS. TOUR LEADER

Tour Guide:

Often locals with intimate knowledge of an area, its culture, and history. Their role entails providing commentary, routing the tour, and seeing that people have a good time. They are a licensed, qualified expert who supplies specific information on history, art, architecture and culture of the city/village/attraction in which he or she is guiding the tour. The guide meets the group at the required place and leaves the group at the end of the tour, they do not travel with the group.

Tour Leader:

An experienced person tasked with ensuring the smooth operation of tours, as well as providing practical support to passengers throughout the whole trip. Their role primarily includes assisting with accommodation, transportation between locations, and communication with tour guides in each stop. A tour leader may provide general guidance around a city or village, and offer information on the place visited on the bus, however they are not required to have specific knowledge on art, architecture, or history. They are not allowed to provide a guided tour or commentary of a city/village/attraction once there and if caught doing so, can be fined.

Summer (June, July and August) is the warmest time of year, when Ireland’s landscapes are at their most vibrant and the days are at their longest. in July, the average high-temperature is 20.2°C, and the average low-temperature is 13.5°C.

Iceland

July is the main summer month in Iceland with an average temperature of 10.6°C, it is usually warmer than that and sometimes the temperature goes as high as 20°C or higher. Iceland is the perfect vacation spot in July. Not because it’s warmer, although it does sometimes reach a scorching 15 degrees — but because the roads are open, the weather is comparatively mild.

Faroe Islands

Summer is very cool if not cold, with highs around 11/13°C. However, there

Tipping for all services provided on tour is always a matter of personal discretion, however please be aware that tipping is considered by many locals to be a part of their normal remuneration and they may approach you for payment and there is no need to be intimidated by the request.

Cruise

Gratuities (tips) are not included in the tour price for the services of the cruise staff throughout the cruise component of this tour. Cruise & Maritime Voyages is an internationally registered company & operates to US & European standards, both of which have an economy driven by a gratuities culture. Gratuities are expected on your cruise and will be charged to your onboard account at £7.00 GBP per person per day.
