Allison came from a very wealthy family that expected a lot from her. She lived a very fulfilling life, but her parents were opinionated.

Expected way to much out of Allie and didn’t respect that she was in love. She married her husband because of money while she fell in love with someone exactly like noah.

After Allies parents mad her move, she met this man and he proposed to her. They almost got married. Allie’s parents loved him.

NOAH

Noah is the protagonist because the entire book revolves around him. He is the “good guy” in the book. He fell in love with Allie when he was young. She moved away and he went to war. He lost his friend in war. When he returned, he built his dream home and a drunken man.

ANNE NELSON

Anne Nelson is the antagonist. She is the one that causes all of the problems in the book. She does not want her daughter to be with Noah. She forces her daughter to move away and almost convinces her to marry the wrong man. She hides all of Noah’s letters that he wrote her every single day and never gave her them until the day that she realizes that she is still in love with Noah.

RISING ACTION

The rising action begins in 1946 one year after Noah Calhoun has returned to his hometown to build the house of his dreams and still has not seen Allie.

EXPOSITION

The exposition of this book is mainly about a love story between two people that had to come over so many difficulties. They had many things challenge their relationship.

CLIMAX

The climax of the story is when Allie comes back to visit Noah. They act as if they never were without each other. They are back in love, head over heals. Everything is going good, and turn out the way that everyone hopes.

FALLING ACTION

She has to break then news for her love for Noah to Lon and her parents. Lon takes it a lot better than I expected and wanted her to be happy. Her mother is finally honest with her and starts to support he decision.

RESOLUTION

The resolution of this book is that Noah and Allie are together. They are old and he is reading her the diary/book that he wrote about their entire life. She finally starts to remember, but in the end of the book, they die in each others arms.

SETTING

New Bern, North Carolina, 1932, 1946, and the present day at Creekside Extended Care Facility

THEMES

The main and most important theme of this book is “Love Conquers All”. Throughout the entire book, Allie and Noah were faced with so many difficulties that they had to overcome. It was amazing that even after everything that they went through, their love only grew stronger and stronger for each other. They end up being together for the rest of their lives.

RATING

I give this book an 9 out of 10 because I rarely can read a book cover to cover, but I read all of this one. I enjoyed reading it. It was inspiring how Noah and Allie overcame all of the problems through it all and became together. It was also really creative since he was reading her the book that he wrote about their lives to her, trying to make her remember their past.

SOCIAL ISSUE

I chose alcohol abuse. In the book there is a time where Noah experiences alcohol abuse. He constantly is drinking alcohol during a time period. He later overcomes his drinking habits when Allie comes back.

Alcohol abuse is one the largest bad habits in our world today.
