Course AR039 Printmaking with Elmer Ramos


Description For this workshop, Instructor Elmer Ramos will be going over the monotype printmaking process and demonstrating

the range in which it can be used. Ramos will demonstrate blend roll, additive and subtractive, stenciling, using

solvents as an image making medium and trace monotype techniques. This workshop will enhance your skills in the

classroom giving you many options for creating unique artwork using found items. This workshop is designed to

create original prints on a small budget.

Description Georgia Southern ESOL Endorsement Course 2017 – 2018

All courses will take place at the Whitney Professional Development Complex on Mondays from 4:30 – 7:30

Cultural Issues (Course 1)

Explores the principles of culture and its link to second language learning as well as issues associated with teaching

and learning in a multicultural classroom. In addition, participants will learn how to develop strategies for integrating

school, neighborhood, and home resources to further the education of ESOL students.

Applied Linguistics (Course 2)

An in-depth study of the major theories of first and additional language acquisition / development / learning and their

implications for instruction.

ESOL Methods and Materials (Course 3)

This course is the application of culturally relevant pedagogy and principles of language acquisition to curriculum

development and implementation of instructional strategies. Participants in this course will design curriculum and

learning activities that facilitate the use of English as a Second Language in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

Description Problem Solving Investigations and Formative Assessment Data Review

Participants will analyze current and/or upcoming unit standards, as well as formative assessment data. In addition,

participants will gain an insight on using problem solving activities to include tasks making standards accessible to all

students ensuring that the depth and rigor is addressed. Participants will also gain an understanding of the eight

Effective Mathematical Teaching Practices and the Standards for Mathematical Practices and how they are

associated with one another.

Course TKS001 TKES Orientation for New Teachers


Description The TKES Orientation for New Teachers Training is designed to provide an overview of the evaluation process for

educators who will be evaluated with the Teacher Keys Evaluation System. Participants will introduce themselves to

all attendees, review the components of the TLE Platform, view a short video, and take an assessment. The

assessment results will be sent to the attendee and their principal. Attendees will receive the TAPS Standards

Reference Card TAPS Performance Standards and Rubrics Card, and the TKES Implementation Handbook.

Additional Information This session will be held at The Whitney Complex in Room 2.

The participant will be expected to enter the TLE platform to sign-off on their orientation. Participants will receive their

log-in and password for the TLE Platform after completing the orientation. Teachers are expected to participate in on-

going familiarization to the Teacher Keys Effectiveness System. (TKES)
