This time we gathered to make “Flakey Pastry” with Beckie Fitchett. What a wonderful morning it was! We all had a great time mixing and visiting. Our friends and families were treated to the very best pumpkin pies and tarts ... and the pastry won praises all round. Thank you Beckie! November: Soups and Cakes Class Our next Baking with Beckie date is November 13 th at 9:00 am. We will be making two types of soup and bread sticks as well as cake. I think we will all want to stay for lunch! The cost for each of these baking mornings is $10.00. Come and enjoy the community fun and treats ... Nov. 13 th , and Dec. 11 th for Christmas Cookies, at 9:00 am. Preregistration is required. Please call Beckie at 7056872919 or email [email protected] to reserve your spot! November “Pot Luck Dinner Plus” This years’ Potluck Dinner will be held on November 24 th at 5:30 pm. The “Plus” is a time to enjoy talents of our community following the dinner. Library  Volunteers  Needed!  We  are  trying  to  keep  the  RCC  library  opened  on  a  more  scheduled  basis  e.g.  Wednesday  afternoons  from  3-­‐5  pm  since  the  centre  is  already  opened  for  Bid  Euchre  from  1  -­‐  3:30  pm.    Can  you  spare  2  hours  once  a  week  or  a  month  to  help  out?  If  you  are  interested  in  helping,  please  call  Jo-­‐Ann  at  705-­‐687-­‐5642  or  e-­‐mail  [email protected]  for  more  information.  

Holiday  Wreath  Making  Join  us  Wednesday,  November  28th  at  9:00  am  for  a  fun  morning  of  wreath  making  with  Larry  Peck.  This  is  an  exciting  fund-­‐raiser  for  the  RCC.  For  only  $15  you  will  create  a  beautiful  holiday  wreath.  This  event  is  limited  to  15  people,  so  please  call  early  to  reserve  your  place.  All  materials  are  included  and  all  you  need  to  bring  is  a  pair  of  garden  secateurs  or  hand  held  garden  clippers.  Call  Judy  at

 Christmas  Tea  Lunch  and  Learn  On  Thursday,  December  13th  please  join  us  for  our  annual  Christmas  Tea  at  11:30  am.  We  are  featuring  Chef  Larry  Peck  who  will  present  a  demonstration  on  knife  skills.  You  can  earn  another  University  of  Ryde  credit!  Following  the  demonstration,  we  will  enjoy  a  lunch  of  soup,  quiche  and  desserts.  The  cost  for  this  event  is  $10.  Mark  your  calendars  now!    h  

 Thursday  Kids:  Homeschoolers  and  Friends  Activity  Program  Seeking  families  to  join  in  a  bi-­‐weekly  activity  day,  Thursdays  from10  am  –  3  pm  starting  November  15th,  at  the  Ryde  Community  Centre.  The  program  will  be  hosted  and  planned  by  parents  of  participating  children.  Ideas  include  crafts,  large  group  games,  hikes,  cook-­‐outs,  nature  studies,  group  singing  or  other  items  of  interest  to  the  children  attending.    The  program  will  be  geared  to  children  ages  4  –  11  years  with  accompanying  

parent.  Younger  siblings  welcome  as  needed.  Cost:  $3/child/day  along  with  a  current  Ryde  Co-­‐op  Membership  ($10).  Please  contact  Caroline  by  email  to  [email protected]  or  call  705-­687-­7053  for  information.  h  

 The  Ryde  Calendar  Is  Coming  By  the  time  the  Ryder  has  gone  to  press,  the  photographer  panel  will  have  selected  the  photos  for  the  Ryde  Co-­‐op  2013  calendar.    The  12  winning  photos  will  be  selected  from  the  20  photos  who  received  the  most  of  your  votes.    The  amazing  entries  were  from  a  wide  variety  of  topics  -­‐  historical,  seasonal,  flora  and  fauna,  farming.  Whatever  the  top  12  photos  are,  they  will  produce  an  awesome  calendar  for  our  community.    Pre-­‐sales  are  now  underway  at  $15.00  per  calendar.  You  can  drop  by  any  event  at  the  co-­‐op  during  the  month  of  November  and  order  your  calendar  (to  be  paid  at  the  time  of  ordering)  or  you  can  send  your  request  to  Wendy  Pilger,  1834  Housey’s  Rapids  Road,  RR  3,  Gravenhurst,  Ont  P1P  1R3  together  with  your  $15.00.  Please  make  cheques  payable  to  Ryde  Community  Co-­‐op.  The  price  will  increase  effective  December  1st  to  $17.00.  We  still  have  room  for  5  advertisers.  If  interested,  please  contact  Wendy  Pilger  at  [email protected]  by  November  6th.    First  come,  first  served. h      Scrapbooking/Cardmaking  on  November  17th  &  18th    Saturday  for  scrapbooking,  $5,    &  Sunday  for  Christmas  cards,  $15.  Bring  a  lunch.  Contact  Sherrie  Pilger  for  information  at  705-­345-­3837  or  email  [email protected].    h
