Existing ProductsThe ‘We Love Film’ podcast is an online YouTube podcast which focuses on the genre of films. The use of language is formal and appropriate English. The layout of the podcast is quite relaxed and spontaneous. They talk about subjects such as premieres, upcoming films, best films and film reviews. Most of their episodes include more than one person talking so there is a collection of different opinions. They have one simple sound effect at the beginning and end of the episode which they use all the time and then I start to read from the script. They tend to keep the conversations really professional and always stay on topic. The ‘We Love Film’ podcast probably appeals to people over the age of 15 partly because of their use of language and the genre of films that they choose to talk about. They have a recognisable logo with a font and upload episodes that last up to a hour. I would like my own podcast to have a similar theme and layout to thus one as it seems more unique and fun.

The podcast ‘Film Junk’ is a podcast which talks about each blockbuster movie that is released, they review it and give their opinions on the films. They dedicate a while 20 minute episode to one film giving them enough time to talk about it in detail. This podcast doesn’t sound as scripted and planned out making it more entertaining and funny. They talk about the concept of films such as the chosen cast, editing and storyline. The language they have used is formal English and professional. They have one main host but include special quests for each episode so questions are also asked. The ‘Film Junk’ podcast will probably have an audience of people above the age of 12, they don’t tend to talk about films that are aged 18. I like how the overall podcast is quite spontaneous and gives the host and guest a lot of freedom to say what they want and I think I might use a similar layout in my own work.

Existing Products‘F This Movie’ is a podcast with the same topic of film and reviews. The episodes are about 10 minutes long and aren’t scripted which makes the fairly informal. There is a lot of comedy included and they usually include more than one person discussing the movies. They use a lot of sound effects and clips from the films they are talking about. This gives the viewers a clearer idea as to what sort of film they are talking about if they haven't seen it. I think I might use this strategy myself. Their audience appeal would be people over the age of 17 because of the use of language and the type of films that they choose to talk about.

Research Analysis

• What common features do the researched products have?

• All the podcasts that I researched included the same topic of films and all talked about the upcoming films, films that are popular, films that are in cinemas and reviewed them.

• They all included more than one person and usually a host. This meant there was more opinions and information to listen to.

• There was also a lot of formal and scripted parts which made the podcasts sound more professional along with the use of humour they also included.

• What aspects of the research will you include within your on work?

• When I plan out my own podcast I will include a formal professional script with some comedy and make sure I stay on topic of the film at all times.

• I will also include the use of sound effects and music that were included in the podcasts I researched. • I will also make my podcast up to 5 minutes long which allow me to have enough time to talk about one film in detail.
