THE MYSTICAL MARRIAGE

...His most glorious Virgin Mother appeared with the most blessed St. John the Evangelist, the glorious Apostle Paul, St. Dominic (the founder of the Or-der) and the prophet David with his harp. While David played sweet strains on the harp the Mother of God took Catherine’s hand in her own most holy hand and presenting her to her Son courteously asked Him to marry her to Himself in faith. The Son of God, graciously agreeing, held out a gold ring with four pearls set in a circle in it and a wonderful diamond in the middle and with His most holy right h and He slipped it on to the virgin’s second finger, saying, “There! I marry you to me in faith, to me, your Creator and [Savior]. Keep this faith unspotted until you come to me in heaven and celebrate the mar-riage that has no end. From this time forward, daughter, act firmly and deci-sively in everything that in my Provi-dence I shall ask you to do. Armed as you are with the strength of faith, you will overcome all your enemies and be happy.” (81)

The visit involves re-ceiving the Blessed Sacrament, sharing in prayer and the word of God.

GOD WANTS TO BE KNOWN The Old Testament reading from Deuteronomy praises God for inscribing the commandments in our very bodies. God’s law is not distant or foreign, but a natural part of us. In his letter to the Colossians, Saint Paul echoes Moses, praising God for becoming one of us. The truly human, flesh-and-blood Jesus reminds us that God always wants to be recognizable and familiar to us. Jesus, who is also truly God, wants to be on intimate terms with each of us. God’s passionate desire to be known by us is almost too wonderful to take in. Luke’s Gospel helps us understand how to respond. The Good Samaritan parable provides practical advice for those who believe in God’s intimate love for them and want to share that love with others. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

EL DESEO DE DIOS PARA SER CONOCIDO La lectura del Antiguo Testamento del libro del Deute-ronomio alaba a Dios por escribir los mandamientos en nuestros cuerpos. La ley de Dios no es extraña o distante, sino una parte natural de nosotros. En su carta a los colo-senses, san Pablo hace eco de Moisés, alabando a Dios por ser uno de nosotros. Él, verdaderamente humano, de car-ne y hueso, Jesús nos recuerda que Dios siempre quiere ser para nosotros alguien familiar al quien podemos recono-cer, el que es verdadero Dios, quiere estar en buenos términos con cada uno de nosotros. Sometimes children will behave in a manner quite unusual for them – stress, misunderstanding, or some form of abuse can be related to such behaviors. If you see your child exhibiting unusual behavior, talk with your child about their day or recent experiences in an open-ended conversation. Do ask factual questions, such as, “What did you do today? Did you do anything unusual today? Who did you see today? Did anyone say or do anything that was unusual or even upsetting? Then, ask feeling questions as a follow-up, and remember that sometimes it’s easier for a child to talk about someone else’s feelings first.
