1- FIRE DETECTION PANEL WFC202C

1-1 INTRODUCTION

WFC202C is fire detection and indicating panel that uses microprocessor techniques and designed to meet the requirements of standards EN 54-2 and EN 54-4. It is housed in a reduced size plastic box and integrates a control panel (Figure 1) that allows an easy management through signalizations and intuitive commands. The panel manages two zones by the means of monitored bifilar lines balanced with end of line resistors; each detection line can support a maximum of 32 point detectors or manual call point. Each zone has indicators that allow the immediate visualization of the states of alarm, fault and disabled; moreover, commands are available for disabling each single zone. All the signalizations are reported through LED and with the aid of a piezoelectric buzzer. The functions of command are managed through membrane keys and are protected, for the functions of reset and disabling, with an access code.

Figure 1 – WFC202C front panel

1-2 WFC202C BASE MODULE

WFC202C base module consists on a microprocessor board that incorporates and manages all the functions of the fire detection panel: power supply, inputs/outputs interface, command keys and LED. The module is mounted on the front cover with screws and gives access from the external side to LED and functions of command protected by polycarbonate serigraphy. For implantation and connections of the module refers to the appropriate section in par.7-1. 1-3 POWER SUPPLY UNIT AND BATTERIES

The power supply unit is realized in conformity with EN54-4 standard and supplies a D.C. voltage between 21V and 28,5V depending on the operating conditions and the ambient temperature (battery charger compensated in temperature). Power supply unit consists on a linear local power source integrated on the WFC202C module that supplies the primary power source and two sealed lead accumulators batteries that supply the secondary power source in case of lack of mains. The unit is permanently controlled by the electronic of WFC202C which provides a fault condition in case of anomalies like:

Batteries disconnected or FUSE battery fault

2-1-1 A - LED indications of general states of fire panel

LED POWER

Is steady on if the panel is working with the main power source (presence of mains), flashes with a short period of ignition if system lacks mains voltage for less than 20min (working with batteries), it is off if the mains lacks mains voltage for more than 20 minutes (fault) and flashes in normal way if the panel is power supplied by mains but fault is present in the mains (voltage outside from the limits: < 21V or > 30V). LED FAULT It indicates that a condition of fault is present in panel. LED DISABLED If steady on, it indicates that a condition of disabling is present in panel (sounders or zones disabled); it flashes during the phase of reset LED ALARM

If steady on, it indicates that a condition of alarm is present in panel and that the corresponding output is activated. If blinking with long period of ignition and short extinction, it indicates pre alarm or delayed alarm in course. 2-1-2 B - LED indications of faults

LED POWER FAULT

If steady on, it indicates that the power supply of panel is not correct because of one of the following conditions of anomaly:

lack of mains voltage since more than 20 minutes

The local power supply voltage of panel is outside from the limits

the battery is disconnected or inefficient

the circuit of battery charging is out of order Flashing of the led indicates that the power supply is correct but some anomaly conditions had occurred previously (memorised signalling). LED FAULT EARTH

If steady on, it indicates a condition of low isolation between one of the electrical parts and the earth. If flashing, it indicates a correct state but some anomaly conditions had occurred previously (memorised signalling). LED SOUNDERS FAULT If steady on, it indicates the presence of fault on the monitored line that commands the alarm actuators (sounders line balance fault). If flashing, it indicates a correct state but some anomaly conditions had occurred previously (memorised signalling). LED CPU FAULT

It indicates that the microcontroller of panel is temporary or permanently out of control. This type of anomaly can be caused by strong disturbances of electrostatic origin, from an abrupt decrease of the power supply voltage or by a physical anomaly of the board of the panel. In this last case the signal can be shut but it is not resettable. In the other cases it is possible to reset the signalization with the dedicated pushbutton by following the procedure described in the point 3.5; if it has no effect (error in the configuration memory) it is enough to activate and deactivate the configuration procedure as it is described in the point 4.1.

LED FUSE FAULT

If on, it indicates that the fault of the fuse places into protection the outputs of panel (sees F3 par.7-1). 2-1-3 C - LED indications and general commands

LED DISABLE SOUNDERS If steady on, it indicates that the sounders lines have been deactivated. The corresponding key allows (at access level 2) the activation/deactivation of the sounders line. The led is flashing in normal way (alternatively on/off) during the phase of reset. LED SILENCE BUZZER

The ignition of the led indicates that the acoustic signalling of the buzzer, activated as a result of a fault or alarm condition, has been manually silenced by the means of the corresponding key.

NOTA: the pressure of the key at access level 1 (led level 2 off) has effect only on the buzzer. The pressure of the key at access level 2 (led level 2 on), allows to carry out the test of the led and buzzer (simultaneous ignition of the led) and if set in phase of configuration (see par.4-5), executes also the silencing of the outputs of alarm/fault. COMMAND RESET The pressure of the key with active access level 2 (led on) provokes the restoration of the memorised conditions of alarm/fault. The phase of reset is temporised and signalised by simultaneous and regular flashes of the led of disable. 2-1-4 D - LED indications and commands relative to zones

LED ZONE DISABLED If steady on, it indicates that the relative zone is disabled. If the two disable leds of zone are flashing simultaneously and normally, it indicates that the zones are in phase of reset (temporary disabled). The corresponding key allows (access level 2) to activate/deactivate the relative zone. LED ZONE ALARM If steady on, it indicates that the relative zone is in alarm conditions. If it is flashing with long period of ignition and short extinction, it indicates that the zone is found in conditions of pre alarm (zone set in pre alarm mode and line absorption corresponds to pre alarm thresholds). If flashing regularly, it indicates that the zone is in normal state but some anomaly conditions had occurred previously (memorised signalling). LED ZONE FAULT

If steady on, it indicates that the relative zone is in condition of fault (line open or in short circuit). If flashing, it indicates that the zone is in normal state but some anomaly conditions had occurred previously (memorised signalling).

2-1-5 E - LED indication of ACCESS LEVEL 2

If steady on, it indicates that the access level 2 is activated and therefore are available the sounders line management and RESET keys. Moreover, in access level 2, the SILENCE BUZZER key allows carrying out the Led/buzzer test and if so configured, it allows triggering the alarm/fault outputs. The activation of access level 2 is obtained by the means of pressing keys (see par.3-3) or can be activated (optionally) also by the means of a setting of jumper on WFC202C module (see JP1 par.7-1). 3- FUNCTIONS & OPERATIONS 3-1 PRE-ALARM, ALARM & FAULT OF ZONES

Panel manages, for every zone, a physical lines to which are connected the fire detectors to. For each line the panel controls constantly the absorbed current and, according to this, shows the state of the corresponding zone. In particular:

does not appear any signalling of zone if the line is in standby

shows the state of zone fault if the line is cut or short circuited (excessive current or current=0A)

Shows pre alarm or alarm if one or more detectors reveal fire condition (current over the thresholds of pre alarm or alarm).

The pre alarm of zone is a condition that generates the signalling of panel but do not

activate the sounders. Pre alarm mode is set in phase of configuration (see par.4-3), panel will indicate pre alarm state if one detector goes in fire alarm (current over the thresholds of pre alarm and under the threshold of alarm). It is shown by an irregular flash of red led of zone (long ignition/ short extinction) and by the sound of the buzzer. Zone goes in alarm state if a second detector goes in fire alarm, or if push-button is activated (current over the thresholds of alarm) or if the alarm comes from a single detector that belong to a zone not declared as pre alarm. Fire alarm of zone is shown by the ignition of the relative red led and the buzzer if

the zone has not been set in delayed alarm and the delay of alarm actuators is not set. But for delayed zones, in alarm condition the countdown starts until alarm actuators are triggered. Delay is set during configuration (see par.4-4) The fault state is reported in case of short circuit (line current excessive) or in case

of open line (line current insufficient) of the relative line, and it is shown by the ignition of yellow led relative to the corresponding zone. The fixed ignition of the led indicates the current presence of the fault; the flashing of the led indicates a memorised signalling (fault no longer present).

3-2 SILENCE BUZZER AND/OR ALARM/FAULT OUTPUTS

In case of pre alarm, alarm or fault, WFC202C turns the relative Leds and the buzzer on. The acoustic signal can be deactivated without necessity of advanced access level by pressing for a moment SILENCE BUZZER key. At access level 2 and in case of alarm or fault, the key allows deactivation of relative outputs. This action is signalled by ignition of yellow led relative to this key and its effect lasts until reset or until a new alarm/fault state occurs. It is possible anyway to set the panel for an automatic deactivation of buzzer after 10min (see par.4-5) NOTA: Automatic deactivation of buzzer is not applied for CPU Fault, for this fault you need to reset the panel manually. 3-3 ENABLE ACCESS LEVEL 2

All the command available on WFC202C, except from SILENCE BUZZER and manual activation of sounders line (in phase of delayed activation of sounders line), are operative only after activating access level 2. This access level, anticipated for specific users, is signalled by green led and is activated by pressing an access code like detailed next: a) Press and maintain key SILENCE BUZZER. This operation changes the nature of the keys DISABLE of zone and become the following setting keys: Zone 1 = Key 1, Zone 2 = Key 2. b) Press sequence Key 1 and Key 2 (code access level 2) c) Release the key SILENCE BUZZER. If the operation has been executed correctly, green led level 2 will be ignited. This access level 2 remains active for 30s since no key has been pressed during this time. Access level 2 can be optionally activated by the means of mechanical key to be inserted in the panel as well (see par.7-1). 3-4 ENABLE/DISABLE ZONE

Every single zone can be disabled or enabled by following this procedure: a) Activate access level 2 b) Press key ON/OFF relative to the zone you want to disable/enable; if the corresponding led goes yellow on it means that the zone is disabled and if the led is off it means the zone is enabled (pressing the ON/OFF key switches alternatively the zone ENABLE – DISABLE) The deactivation of the zone remains permanent until it is manually activated again. Disabled zones are considered non operative by WFC202C, therefore all alarm or fault signalisations relative to disabled zones are ignored. Disabled zone remains able to analyse the state of its line and keeps on indicating through led the eventual alarms or faults kept in memory.

3-5 RESET OF PANEL

Alarm/fault states that are registered by the panel are memorised through the led or through the alarm actuators. Actions on SILENCE BUZZER are also memorised. In order to get back to normal state after a condition of anomaly it is necessary to carry out a RESET operation. The reset is obtained pressing the dedicated key after having activated the access level 2 (see par. 3-3). Reset takes place in 2 phases and lasts a couple of seconds (programmable). In the first phase, WFC202C cuts the power of the detection lines (physical reset of detectors), in the second phase (post reset) the lines are powered again and WFC202C keeps on ignoring the eventual alarm or fault states coming from zones. The 2 phases of reset are indicated by the blinking of DISABLE leds of zones. 3-6 AUTO RESET OF FIRST ALARM

It is possible, in phase of configuration, to set for each zone the function of auto reset of the first alarm. The auto reset of the first alarm is a filter function that allows ignoring the alarm states that could be false. The principles of the auto reset are following: a) If an alarm occurs on a zone set in auto reset, the alarm is not registered but it generates the activation of a delay of 3 seconds. b) If within this time another alarm occurs on any zone, it will be recognized by the panel as true (AND of two alarms generates true alarm). If no alarm has occurred within these 3 seconds, WFC202C will cut the power of the relative line for a time corresponding to reset allowing physical reset of detector in alarm.

NOTA: the reset does not cancel the eventual memorizations of anomalies registered previously on the led. c) At the end of the time of reset panel begins a 5 minutes countdown. If within this time another condition of alarm occurs on any zone panel will recognise it as true alarm, and will start again 5 minutes countdown. After 5 minutes the function of filter of alarms will be restored. 3-7 ALARM DELAY

It is possible to delay the activation of alarm outputs after an alarm has occurred. This function can be set in phase of configuration (level 3) for every single zone. This setting is permanent until another setting occurs. In case of alarm, the activation of the countdown of delay is indicated by the blinking of the led of general alarm which becomes steady when the countdown ends, then outputs are activated. If another alarm occurs on a normal zone during this delay the countdown is stopped and the alarm outputs are activated immediately. The delay can be set in phase of configuration (sees par.4-4).

NOTA: The alarm delay concerns only the alarm outputs, activation of acoustic and visual indications on panel are immediate.

4- CONFIGURATION OF PANEL

WFC202C is equipped with a non volatile memory on which all the parameters of configuration reside. Some of these parameters can be modified by the installer, in agreement with normative, in order to adapt the panel to the necessities of the installation. 4-1 ENABLE CONFIGURATION The activation of configuration mode is protected (access level 3) and it is

obtained operating like following: a) Remove the screws of the front cover of panel to reach the internal electronic; b) Insert the jumper of configuration JP2 (see Figure 4) on the microprocessor board; c) Push the RESET button P1 on the µP board (see Figure 4) for a short time. The configuration mode is signalled by the blinking of the yellow led of DISABLE and LEVEL 2 (see CF in Figure 5). The following conditions are also present: - All the alarm/fault actuators turn into standby state; - Detection lines are put in condition of reset (Voltage on the lines not present); - Leds and keys have different functions as in normal condition To deactivate configuration mode take jumper JP2 off.

Figure 5 - Led and keys of the panel used for configuration The 3 keys RESET, SILENCE BUZZER and DISABLE SOUNDERS become respectively the selection keys of configuration for: zones [SZ], delay [ST], and the options [SO]. FAULT led become the indicators of parameters 1-5 in configuration mode. Led DISABLE and ALARM of zones [A...D] become finally the indicators of the configuration value, and the relative keys ON/OFF [SA, SB] allow modifying the

corresponding positions. All the others led and keys are not significant in configuration mode. For the visualization/modification of each parameter, refer to the next pages. 4-2 BASE CONFIGURATION

The factory configuration of WFC202C complies with EN 54-2. Before carrying out any modification of the configuration it is necessary to refer first to the standard normative in order to avoid an improper operating setting. The factory configuration is following:

Zones/lines:

Zones 1 & 2 are set in instantaneous alarm (no alarm delay), no zone is set in pre alarm mode, and no zone is set in auto reset of first alarm.

Delays:

Minimal duration of pre alarm (if not memorised): 10seconds

Minimal duration of alarm (if not memorised): 30 seconds

Delay of alarm: 60 seconds

Duration of active reset of detectors (detectors not power supplied): 5 seconds

Duration of passive reset of detectors (post-reset): 5 seconds

Options:

Options pre alarm/alarm: - Fault does not active pre alarm. - Alarm output memorised and pre alarm temporised

Earth/buzzer fault: - Earth fault enabled. - Buzzer memorised, sound until the activation of SILENCE BUZZER or RESET.

Aux. Output configuration: - output is active if presence of ENABLE or SILENCE BUZZER.

Several options: - Pre alarm activates alarm delay. - SILENCE BUZZER influences only buzzer. - SILENCE BUZZER does not deactivate automatically after 10mn.

Thresholds/detectors type: WÄCHTER (WÄCHTER detectors range) 4-3 VERIFY/MODIFY CONFIGURATION OF ZONES In order to visualize and/or modify the configuration of the zones activate the configuration mode with jumper JP2 and select with key SZ (key RESET) the parameter to visualize and/or modify.

NOTA: Configuration mode of zones is indicated by the ignition of the leds

corresponding to the parameters 1-3.

1) CONFIGURATION OF THE ZONES IN INSTANTANEOUS: The zones set in instantaneous activate immediately signalizations/outputs of pre alarm or the signalizations/outputs of alarm. The zones that are not set in instantaneous activate the alarm outputs with a delay that starts when the alarm occurs. Delay: 0 to150 seconds (see par.4.4).

normally programmed in instantaneous (led on).

2) CONFIGURATION OF ZONES WITH MANAGEMENT OF AUTO RESET OF THE FIRST ALARM:

The zones set in this mode have following principles: a) The first alarm is not registered but activates an internal countdown of 3 seconds. b) If within this time a new alarm occurs on another zone it is registered as a true alarm (AND of two alarms generates true alarm) but if 3 seconds delay has expired WFC202C will apply a reset on detection lines.

NOTA: Avoid applying the function of auto reset of the first alarm on the zones anticipated for push-buttons management.

3) CONFIGURATION OF ZONES WITH MANAGEMENT PRE ALARM MODE: The zones set in pre alarm mode have following principles: a) If an alarm occurs from a single detector (current under the thresholds of alarm and over the threshold of pre alarm; threshold selectable in configuration of options) WFC202C will not register an alarm but a pre alarm. The pre alarm is indicated by the blinking (long ignition/short extinction) of led of alarm of zone and by the sound of the buzzer. In pre alarm conditions the alarm outputs are not activated. If WFC202C has a factory setting (can be modified in par.4-5) the pre alarm will be managed like alarm delayed, it means that after an internal countdown that starts when pre alarm had occurred the pre alarm becomes alarm. b) But if another alarm occurs or a push-button is triggered (current over the threshold of alarm) the alarm outputs are activated directly.

The connection of the sounders will be carried out like indicated in the following figure using anti flame cable with section appropriate for actuators/sounders management and according to the length of the line. For the calculation of the section of the conductors refer to the following formula:

Sz= (0, 04 x l x L)/Vl Sz = minimum section in mm² of each of the two conductors of the line

I= maximum total current in ampere absorbed in alarm condition by the actuators/sounders connected to the line

L= total length of the line in meter Vl= maximum falling of voltage in volt on the line (on both conductors). For the

calculation consider a falling of voltage not over 1V. The actuators/sounders will be able to operate with voltage comprised between 20V and 30V D.C and must have a total absorption compatible with the data of panel

(see par.1-4-2).

7-3 Connection of detectors The connection of the detectors to the lines/zones is carried out with shielded anti flame cables, 2 x 0,5mm² min, with shield connected to earth of panel. 32 detectors or push-buttons max (470 Ω ¼ W limitation resistor in serial for push button). An end of line resistor must be connected to the last detector as element for line balance (monitoring of line). The value of such resistance depends on the selected thresholds and can be 4,7KΩ ¼ W or 3, 9 KΩ ¼ W; see par.4-5.

Refer to the next part CONNECTION DIAGRAM for the exact installation.

NOTA: If a line remains unused it is necessary to terminate the line with an appropriate end of line resistor.

FAST GUIDE These pages resume the main functions of panel. It is therefore advised to detach this section and to conserve it close to panel. The table refers to the following figure. `

Figure 11 – WFC202C panel DESCRIPTION POWER (1) ON indicates the panel is working with the main power source

(presence of mains). OFF indicated that panel is working with only batteries. BLINKING indicates the panel is working with mains source but a fault is present on the group of power source

FAULT (2) ON indicates the presence of fault condition. Verify the other indications to find the cause.

DISABLE (3) ON indicates the presence of a condition of disable. BLINKING in regular way indicates the phase of reset.

ALARM (4) ON indicates the presence of a condition of alarm. BLINKING with long period of ignition and short extinction indicates the phase of delay of alarm in course. BLINKING with regular period indicates that an alarm had occurred previously (memory).

POWER FAULT (6) ON indicates the presence of a condition of fault on group of power source.

EARTH FAULT (7) ON indicates that a condition of low isolation is present.

SOUNDERS FAULT (8) ON indicates the presence of a fault condition on the monitored line that commands the alarm sounders

CPU FAULT (9) ON indicates that the microprocessor is temporary or permanently out of control. This fault can be caused by electrostatic disturbances, an abrupt decrease of voltage or a physical breakdown of the card (in this last case the signalling is not resettable).

FUSES FAULT (10) ON indicates an anomaly on the fuses intended for protection of panel and lines.

ZONES FAULT (15,16) ON indicates the presence of a fault on the relative zone

PRE ALARM/ALARM ZONES (13,14)

ON indicates that the relative zones are in alarm. BLINKING, with a long period of ignition and a short period of extinction, indicates that the zones are found in pre alarm conditions.

DISABLED ZONES (11,12) ON indicates that the relative zones are disabled. BLINKING in regular way indicates that the zones are in phase of reset.

DISABLE SOUNDERS (17) ON indicates the deactivation of the alarm/sounders outputs.

LEVEL 2 (19) ON indicates that the access level 2 is active

SILENCE BUZZER (18) ON indicates that manual silencing of the buzzer is carried out
