Energy City
“The community of the future”
2000-Watt Site certificate
Distinction awarded to major developments with a high percentage of new buildings taking into account density mixed use traffic generated
Planned: further development for application to the transformation of existing sites/neighbourhoods
Why have a 2000-Watt Site certificate?
Former focus inadequate for communities of the future
The certificate broadens the focus to encompass the:
Site rather than individual buildings→ Quality of density and mixed usage→ Network use (supplies, production, storage)→ Mobility issues
Overall performance rather than operating energy→ incl. construction (grey energy) and mobility
Operating phase, instead of just construction phase
2000-Watt Site certificate
The site municipality is a certified Energy City
An authorized site association is Energy City’s counterpart
Clearly defined spatial perimeter with several buildings connected by an outdoor space
High-quality site
Minimum size of approx. 10,000 sq.m. surface area(1 ha) or floor space
Criteria for certification
2000-Watt Site certificate
Core idea: ongoing evaluation during development, planning, implementation and operation
2000-Watt Site certificate
2000-Watt Site certificate
Evaluation Process
Quantitative and qualitative evaluation
2000-Watt Site certificate
Proof based on the SIA Energy Efficiency Path
Criteria:→ Construction (grey energy)→ Operation (heating, cooling, power)→ Mobility
Target values met site-wide for→ Greenhouse gas emissions→ Non-renewable primary energy→ Primary energy overall
Catalogue of criteria similar to Energy City → ongoing process of improvement
Five domains:→ Management→ Communication, cooperation→ Supply and removal→ Buildings→ Mobility
At least 50% of the points for each domain must have been attained.
