Dynamic Analysis of Historical Buildings. A Methodology and a Case Study. Enrique Vázquez 1 . Félix Escrig 1 . Abstract To calculate the safety level of an historical building in which we will intervene implies to know the limit capacity of the materials and in fact, this knowledge supposes an exhaustive campaign of testing and checking. The complete study in laboratory of all the materials conforming the building is a long and very expensive task and, even done, it would be necessary to document all the existent discontinuities in the fabric to be able to estimate with rigor the level of actual safety coefficient. The required level of knowledge of characteristics of the building, increases with the employment of the modern techniques of analysis by the Finite Element Method. Due to these difficulties, we propose an alternative way of analysis. They don't interest us concrete real data, but relative values. The objective is not to determine a precise real value in a concrete situation, but to establish a comparative value between a previous and a final, after the intervention states. The purpose of the work is to determine the structural behaviour of a highly deteriorated structure of historical interest in Seville by means of dynamic analysis. 1. Objectives and Methodology The purpose of this work is to determine the structural behaviour, in the actual state, of Santa María la Blanca, in Seville, with object of eliminating added elements that, at the moment, difficult the structural behaviour and hide its architecture. We will also check, as additional measure, the vibratory behaviour of the fabric according to the proposed guidelines of this analysis, to contrast that the vibration frequencies after our intervention on the fabric are adjusted to the previous measured, guaranteeing a permanence in their distributions of mass and stifness. The method we propose covers the following analysis levels:
