A few facts, stripped from the paralyzing emotions of the above, need to be elucidated.

Rabbi and Mrs. Holtzberg mercilessly murdered today in Mumbai, India are another tearsoaked, painful, and grief evoking link in the unfortunately long chain of Holy martyrs, whohave given their lives - Al Kiddush Hashem - for the sanctification of G-d's name. This crownsthem with the status of Kedoshim - they will be forever of our holiest.

Rabbi and Mrs. Holzberg were the parents of three children. One passed away from a lungdisase at a young age, another is now in Israel - age 7 - receiving treatment and possiblelung transplant, and then there is the little 2 year old boy who the entire world watched beingcarried to safety by his nanny. Our community of Boynton has a personal relationship withthe Holzberg's. Now,he and his two year old brother are the orphans for whom we are held in the tight vise ofmourning.

Rabbi Holzberg was sent out this morning by the terrorists for food. They gave him 10minutes to return or else...Rabbi Holzberg ran right back into the lions den in eight minutes, carrying the food for his murderers.

One tiny alley of a street, in the south of India was a beacon of G-dly light. Guests, Shabbat, holidays, Torah, and Mikvah became a reality on that now famous, but forever infamous, dingy looking block of flimsy tenements.

Light in the darkness. Life vs. Death. Good vs. Evil. These fundamentals had one mightilysuccesful abode, which has now attracted the attention of the universe, with one blue andwhite sign in that dusty alley - Chabad House.

The driving passion to take their family from the lap of luxury of a home in Brooklyn andIsrael, to a mokom tumah - a life of foreign filth, and bring up a family of Torah, Teffilah,Tzeddakah their own, and joined by hundreds of their other Jewish "children" whose soulsfound their nourishment, together with warm challah and chicken soup, was driven by oneblinding love - embedded in their minds and hearts, as priority number one in their lives -Ahavas Yisroel, unadulterated love of their fellow Jew. The Rebbe's mission of "hunting downJews with love, life, education, and meaning."

This ahavas yisroel came back in inordinate fashion, as for the last 48 hours, Jews fromevery stream of life, whomever heard of their plight, did whatever was asked - Pray, add amitzva, make a resolution for the future, whatever it took to connect them toThe Holtzbergs, hundreds of thousands did it from the heart.

Truthfully, though, The Holtzberg's did not just represent these few hundred thousands, butthey were Jewry itself. Everything a Jew is, they were. The epitome of living Torah, living4000 years of our tradtions, living the ideals of kindness, scholarship, and making this worldgood and more G-dly is all that consumed the lives of The Rebbe's Shluchim to Mumbai,India. The Jewish people, as a whole, were stabbed in the heart today.

Nothing is by coincidence, this nightmare of nightmares takes place exactly one weekfollowing the international convention of The Rebbe's Shluchim to every corner where thereis a Jew. Last week The Holtzbergs were one of 4000 others "just doing their job," today theentire world knows exactly what that "job" entails.

Hard for us to guage the heart of the Rebbe, but to the common layman, alike myself, one ofthe greatest losses of The Rebbe was his Rebbetzin in 1988.

On that day of her passing, and for the entire year of mourning thereafter the Rebbe utilizedThe Rebbetzin's name in his public talks. Chaya - Life. But he did not stop there he said thetears over the loss must be transformed into water for growth, for every living matter mustgrow. The passionate energies of emotional pain and grief must be harnessed for their mightand utilized for goodness.

The Rebbe had no children. Yet on his desk in his study he asked that his "family album"always remain. Four huge, coffee table sized, full color albums of each Shliach, his wife andeach of their children - by individual name and a picture of their institution, categorized inthese thousands of pages according to Continent, Country, and State. These were TheRebbe's children.

Undoubtedly, alike his wife - The Rebbe would respond to this horrific loss, by comandeeringall of the emotions towards one goal. The void must be filled, now double as much.

By the way, there is a couple in Brooklyn, who has already signed up for this shlichus toMumbai, and Chabad of The Far East will be opening 2 new Chabad Centers in India. Yes,the lives of Rabbi and Mrs. Holtzberg have been snuffed from their parents hands, theirbrothers, sisters, children and family of Shluchim, but their souls will live on forever. Chabadwill never, ever be stopped.

Last week the challenge making its rounds at the convention was the worldwide economicmeltdown, today - L'havdil - it is these Kedoshim.

But that is the power of truth, it never ends and nothing, absolutely nothing, can challenge it.

Today is the first day of Kislev, the month of Chanukah the holiday of lights. If you or anyother woman you know does not yet light Shabbat candles, do it tonight - start tonight, beforesundown, in memory of the mother who will never again see her 2 children - her two lights.

For Rabbi Holtzberg only a complete overhaul of our ahavas yisroel system will do. No moredifferences, no more petty arguments, just selflessness for your fellow. It might be hard, butthat hard job is what Rabbi Gavriel Holtzberg gave his life for so we too can give up a little ofour lives for our brothers and sisters.

May The A-lmighty also accomplish both; bring the final light to our dark, bitter and painfulexile and with Ahavas Yisroel, love of His people Israel, may He do it very speedily in themerit of the holy neshomos of Gavriel and Rivka Holtzberg, may G-d avenge their blood.
