Hagerty High School Announces Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship Nominee

We are pleased to announce that Jennifer S. Laster has been named as Hagerty High

School’s Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship Nominee. Each high school principal is

allowed to nominate one applicant to compete for a potential monetary award. Each

school’s nominee is the student who has the highest product of unweighted 7th semester GPA multiplied by best one-sitting test score. Jennifer is now entered into the competition

along with other outstanding students throughout the state. Congratulations Jennifer.

Congratulations to Lauren Snyder, Hagerty High School’s Disney Dreamer and Doer for 2008-09!

Lauren was selected by Walt Disney World as the Seminole County High School “Shining

Star”! Lauren is the only SCPS High School student to be recognized with this prestigious award. Lauren has been active in our school beginning her freshman year and has

continued to be involved in many activities. What makes Lauren a “Shining Star” is her

tremendous work in the community with special needs children. She has been involved in many, many community activities, programs, and fundraisers that serve special needs

kids! Disney cast members, including Mickey Mouse, came out today to surprise Lauren with this award during her fourth hour class. With her family present, Mickey presented

Lauren with her trophy, balloons and cake. We are proud of Lauren as a student, but more importantly, we are more proud of all she does for our community! Congratulations

Lauren. You are our “Shining Star”!

Hagerty High School’s Inaugural Homecoming Was a Great Success!

Congratulations go to all of our students for their outstanding participation in all of the events.

Each day was designated a special ‘dress-up’ day and our students and staff

showed their school spirit with fantastic participation.

'Flick on the Fifty’ on Monday night was a relaxing and enjoyable time for our

students to socialize and enjoy each other’s company. ‘Leader of the Pack’ on Wednesday night was an action packed showcase for our

guys to strut their stuff and strut they did! ‘Powder Puff’ between the Junior and Senior girls was a hotly contested but

refreshingly sportsmanlike event in which our senior class came out ahead in the score.

The class room door decorations were especially creative. The Homecoming Parade was spectacular with students from Carillon Elementary,

people from the community, and Hagerty students lining the street to see the floats and entries!

Of course the game and halftime ceremonies crowning the King and Queen were spectacular.

The week culminated with the Homecoming Dance with a huge crowd that enjoyed the music and fun.

Many thanks go to Ms. Miller, our SGA sponsor, and the SGA students who worked tirelessly to make the week a great success, the class officers and sponsors who pitched

in and helped, our staff who modeled school spirit, our many parents who volunteered, the city commissioners and other dignitaries who participated in the parade and, most of

all, our outstanding student body for their awesome participation!
