Keuka College Storm2008-09 Men’s Basketball

A much more experienced Keuka hoops squad will take the floor in 2008-09. Lastseason’s 7-16 team had 10 first-timers out of its 16 players and four of the other sixwere only in their second go around with the team. With a good nucleus back, theStorm will make its presence felt in the revamped North Eastern AthleticConference (NEAC).

Nonetheless, second-year head coach Tom Flood will have to steer a young team andwill rely heavily on five upperclassmen. Headlining the list of upperclassmen will be6-5 senior forward Garret Herthum. Herthum pulled in 158 rebounds (6.9) to finishsecond on the team while averaging 7.6 points a game and shooting 40 percent fromthe floor.

Returning to the frontcourt alongside Herthum will be senior Josh Robinson, whoplayed as a freshman and sophomore before taking last season off. In 2006-07,Robinson averaged 4.3 points and 3.7 rebounds a game while shooting 51 percentfrom the floor.

The backcourt will be manned by senior Justin Stern and junior Peter Durr. Thesharp-shooting Stern led the Storm in 3-point shooting, draining 45 trifectas andaveraging 8.3 points a game. The 6-2 Stern not only made a lot of 3-balls but shot animpressive 47 percent from downtown. The 6-0 Durr manned the point duties for theStorm and dished off 57 assists while alsoscoring 6.9 points a contest. Durr was third onthe team in 3-pointers with 24 while hauling in63 rebounds. Junior guard Rob Crowley alsoreturns after scoring 2.3 points a game.Sophomore guard Chas Tangredi returns tohelp out at the point guard spot.

Sophomore centers Tyler Pundt and DiamondBooker will man the paint for Keuka. Pundt, standing at 6-8, saw action in 20 games andaveraged 1.5 rebounds and 1.4 points a game. The 6-7 Booker suffered a knee injury beforethe season and did not play. His return willgive the Storm a huge boost in the middle.

New to the team this year will be guards AlexColeman, Alex Jones, and Mike Hutchings.New frontcourt performers include LeviWalrath, Ian Woodworth, and Cody Sellick.
