Woodlands Annual Picnic Over 100 Woodlands residents braved the rainy day and made the trek to Bellingham Park for our annual picnic. The weather may have been cloudy and gloomy but the sun was shining bright under the pavilion! There was lots of laughter, good cheer, and great food. Our featured entertainment this year was Adrian Gagnon the Magician. He made balloon art for the kids, then performed an hour-long magic show that had both adults and children wondering “How did he do that?” Adrian’s closing trick was one performed by none other than the famous Harry Houdini. Assisting him were Robert Robustelli and Ryan Gamble. The show was amazing. Comments from the crowd made it clear that this was the best entertainment we’ve ever had! Thanks to all who came out and brought sunny faces to an otherwise gloomy day! P.O. President’s CornerI can hardly believe that Fall is already here. An eventful 2009 has really flown by and it is already time to start looking towards 2010.

I enjoyed seeing many of you at our annual picnic. This event continues to be our most popular one and it is a great opportunity to meet new neighbors and catch up with old friends. A big thanks to Sheri and Jamie for putting this together.

Events that are still to come include our Halloween celebration and the annual Winter Wonderland event where we gather to decorate the front entrance. Also, our annual meeting is scheduled for November 12th at 7 p.m. This is a great opportunity for you

to come and hear about things going on in our neighborhood, provide your feedback on them and suggest ideas for new opportunities that we should focus on. At this meeting, we will need to elect three voting mem-bers to the Board. Please contact me if you would be interested in nominating yourself or a neighbor for one of these important positions.

Finally, I continue to hear great feedback about our new front entrance from neighbors and people outside of our neighborhood. It is definitely something that we can all be proud of. As part of our planning for 2010, the Board is in the process of identifying a new landscaper to take over the maintenance of the entrance. Our plan is to review three or four bids and make a final decision before the end of the October. Please stay tuned for additional information about this.

I hope you enjoy the final 2009 edition of our newsletter. It, in conjunction with our website (www.thewood-landshoa.com), is a great way for you to stay up-to-date on the happenings in our wonderful neighborhood.

Bellingham ParkGreat news! Bellingham Park has installed signage along their pathways that will guide you to all the many opportunities that await you while at the park. The site maps will not only show you the location of the tennis courts, playground, parking lots, etc., but they also offer you the opportunity to know just how much walking you’ve done while there.

The paths are a welcomed addition to our neighbor-hood for those who want to ride their bikes, walk, run, or just enjoy a little bit of nature.

Halloween Spook-tacular!Costumes, pumpkins, and candy—Oh my! Make no bones about it, there’s mischief brewing in the Woodlands.

Why? It’s almost time for our annual Halloween Spook-tacular event on October 31st. The hair-raising good time will be held at 181 River Birch Circle. The fun starts at 6:15 p.m. and runs until 6:45 p.m.

Highlighting the event is the boooo-tiful costume contest. The categories are: Adults, kids 4 & under, kids 5-7, kids 8-12, and pets. Don’t forget to turn your house into the best haunt in the neighborhood as well. Prizes will be given in each category!!

Witches brew and ghostly treats will be served. Don’t miss out on this fang-tastic time…

Annual Homeowners’ MeetingYour board has once again reserved the Charles Mack Citizen Center for our annual homeowners meeting. This year’s meeting will be on November 12th and begins promptly at 7 p.m. Don’t be late because the first thing on the agenda will be the drawing to have your HOA dues paid for 2010—and you must be present to win!

Amy and Brad will review how our budget for 2009 fared and will then present the Board’s suggestions for next year’s budget.

Please come and share your thoughts on what the focus for our neighborhood should be for 2010. We will also hold the election of officers for three seats on our board that are about to expire. Refreshments will be served.

Part-Time Day Care AvailableBeth Kahne who lives at 250 River Birch Circle is now offering day care in her home on Mondays, Wednes-days, and Fridays. She has over 25 years of experience.

Woodlands’ Winter WonderlandCome join in the holiday spirit by helping to decorate our entrance for the holidays. We received so many compliments last year on how festive our entrance looked. Let’s see if we can’t out do ourselves this year.

Your board will supply all of the decorations and the lights. It really is a great way to spend some fun time with your family and getting to know others in the neighborhood as well. We will plan to meet at the entrance on Saturday, December 5th at 10 a.m. See you there!
