This Is UC San Diego...Location…Nestled on the bluffs above the Pacifi c Ocean just north of downtown San Diego, UC San Diego is known as one of the most attractive and liveable campuses in the country. Just over 27,000 students are spread across UCSD’s 1,200 wooded acres. With near-perfect weather year-round and boundless recreational activities to choose from, San Diego truly lives up to its motto of “America’s Finest City.”

Education…UC San Diego is one of the top academic institutions in the world. U.S. News and World Report rated UCSD seventh in the nation among public universities, while The Lon-don Times ranked UC San Diego among the top 25 universities in the world. UCSD also garnered recog-nition as the 2007 “Hottest School For Science” and was ranked among the nation’s top 10 “Best Value” public colleges for 2009 by The Princeton Review.

Facilities… UC San Diego’s Track and Field Complex is known as one of the top facilities in the country. The facility includes a nine lane track surface in Triton Stadium, a world-renowned throwing facility, spacious locker rooms, and a weight room. Large

grass fi elds and a eucalyptus forest with trails surround the stadium providing endless possibilites for training. Near the track is the state-of-the-art, multi-million dollar RIMAC athletic event center that features a 5,000 seat arena and a 12,000 square foot weight room.

Competition…As well as competing as a member of the California Collegiate Athletic Association, widely considered the premiere Division II conference in the country, UC San Diego com-petes against many of the top NCAA Division I programs in the state of California.

Dual meet wins over Division I sister schools UC Santa Barbara, UC Davis, UC Irvine and UC Riverside in the All-UC Championships and a win over cross-town rival San Diego State at the San Diego City Championships meet set the tone for an impressive 2008 season. UCSD went on to capture a fourth consecutive California Collegiate Athletic Association title and an unprecedented 4th place team fi nish at NCAA Championships. The Triton women concluded the 2008 season with a fi nal ranking of No. 2 in the U.S. Track and Field Coaches As-sociation National Power Rankings.
