Niel Ellerbrook is the chairman and CEO of Vectren Corporation. He has been a mem-ber of the board of directors for Vectren since 1991. Prior to his election as CEO in 2003, Ellerbrook held a number of positions, including vice president of finance, chief financial officer, senior vice president, executive vice president, president of Indiana Gas Company, Inc., and president and chief operating officer of Indiana Energy, Inc.
Ellerbrook has served on the Miller College Alumni Board and participated in the Miller College of Business Distinguished Speaker Series. He is considered an Executive Partner in the college. He serves on the boards of the American Gas Association, Old National Bancorp, Signature Learning Center, and the University of Evansville. He is a long-time and dedicated supporter of United Way and has been instrumental in directing Vectren Corporation to be among the leaders for all southwestern Indiana companies in the number of leadership level contributors.
Ellerbrook holds the Miller College of Business Award of Distinction, Miller College of Business Hall of Fame Award, and the Ball State Alumni Association Distinguished Alumni Award. In 2008, he received an honorary doctorate degree from Ball State.
Paul Parkison returned to Ball State in 1966 as an accounting professor in the newly formed College of Business. Six years later he began his 29-year tenure as department chair, playing a leading role in growing the department, building its reputation, and helping the college achieve accreditation.
Under Parkison’s leadership the accounting department grew from six to 18 faculty members and Ball State became the first public university in the state to achieve separate AACSB accreditation for its accounting program. In addition, he led the faculty and staff fundraising during Ball State’s Wings of the Future capital campaign to surpass its $1 million goal in 1992, as well as the effort to endow a distinguished professorship in accounting.
Over the years, Parkison has earned recognition for leadership in many professional and volunteer arenas, including the Distinguished Service Award from the Indiana CPA So-ciety (as the first educator to receive this award); the Sagamore of the Wabash from the State of Indiana; the Miller College of Business Hall of Fame Award; and the Ball State University Alumni Association’s Distinguished Alumni Award and Benny Award.
