WilhelmcameupwiththeideaofwearingwhiteshoesfromJoeLutz,whowasthecoachatSouthernIllinoisinthe1960s.Lutzwasalsothefirsttohavefemalebatgirls. Wilhelmlikedthoseideas,andthetwohavebeenwiththeTigerprogrameversince.
