• 60 million registered Evangelicals in America• 15 million vote (1 out of 4)

• Add to that 24 million Christians that arenot even registered to vote who are eligible

• 84 million potential Evangelical votesAgain, ONLY 15 million vote

• Less then 20% of the church votes!!!

As value voters we need to vote in every election!!!

• You must register to vote in the County you reside in.• You must be a citizen of the United States.• You must be at least 17 years and 10 months old toregister, and you must be 18 years of age by electionday.• You must not be finally convicted of a felony, or if youare a felon, you must have completed all of yourpunishment, including any term of incarceration, parole,supervision, period of probation, or you must havereceived a pardon. • You must have not been determined by a finaljudgment of a court exercising probate jurisdiction to betotally mentally incapacitated without the right to vote.

Importance of Early Voting

As you may know on Friday, August 27, 2010, Harris County experienced a devastating loss of our eSlate election equipment in a fire that destroyed our warehouse. The Harris County office is working diligently to secure adequate election equipment to conduct the November 2, 2010 election with as little disruption to the citizens of Harris County as possible. Harris County strongly encourage voters to cast their ballot during the Early Voting period beginning Monday, October 18 and ending Friday, October 29 or thru ballot by mail for those who are eligible.

Churches and Elections: WHAT IS THE LAW?

Churches May NOT:1. Endorse or oppose a particular candidate2. Contribute to or raise money for a candidate (including free

use of church list)

Churches May: (among other activities)1. Register their members as voters2. Pass out voters’ guides3. Invite all candidates in a race to speak (It is okay if only one

shows up)4. Speak DIRECTLY about specific issues and legislation

(abortion, marriage, etc.) Individually, a pastor can do whatever he feels led to do- endorse, support a member’s campaign, etc. There are no limitations. The few limitations above that exist are only for the church entity and only if the church is a non-profit corporation. Pastors should not be intimidated from acting as pastors, callingtheir people to vote and giving them info so they can best represent Christ in the voting booth.
