“Completely burnt in the office with not enough time on the hill, once again we are confronted with the catalog crunch. With our whole art department

gone, (he already had a full time job and another kid on the way) the small staff at StepChild was saying-“What the hell do we do this time?” When it

comes to making the catalog, we don’t lock ourselves in the office with a bunch of art fags or hire anal-retentive design firms to do the job for us. We

put our combined IQ’s of 80 together and decided to do what everyone else in the world is doing. We decided to go green-and by green we just mean

the color green-nothing more.

With so many companies claiming green, we thought we would mix up the soy-based paint (that’s a lie) and hop on the

bandwagon. It is not poking fun at the companies that really are making a difference in the world today with the environmental

issues. It’s more aimed at the companies that claim to be green for the sole purpose to increase sales. We don’t wear a

big “WE RECYCLE” shirt just because we placed boxes in the recycle bin and we don’t do sermons on the mountain

after dropping off empties at the bottle depot. If you take this catalog too seriously then you need to lighten up- it’s

snowboarding.

StepChild has now been in business for seven years. We have been a small and independent brand since

day one and have always put snowboarding first. We may not be getting rich off snowboarding

but at least we are still riding and having a blast. When you buy a board from StepChild then

you are putting money back into snowboarding-not camp stove testing or tennis racket

development. We are currently placing what little we have into video projects, team

rider programs, board testing of materials and development for new products, and

just snowboarding in general.

We are continuing to look into more friendly materials and

manufacturing methods in building snowboards. In the meantime

we’ll reduce our footprint by wearing smaller shoes, and build

quality boards that last. I’d like to personally thank

everyone who has ever bought a board from

us. StepChild has gotten to where it is

because of you. That being said

we still have a long way to go.”

- Sean Johnson

ABS/Poplar wood core with glue injection. The ArmorCore is a process that injects glue through integrated channels in the core at the same time that the board is pressed.

Poplar Wood Core. Tip-to-tail fully computerized milled and profiled poplar core gives a smooth consistent flex distribution (pattern).

Poplar Wood Core with Beech Rails. Tip-to-tail fully computerized milled and profiled poplar core gives a smooth consistent flex pattern. The denser Beech wood re enforced rails give the board stable edge control and a poppy flex.

Poplar Wood Core with Beech Rails and Beech Insert Strips. Tip-to-tail fully computerized milled and profiled poplar core gives a smooth consistent flex pattern. The denser Beech wood re enforced rails give the board stable edge control and a poppy flex. The insert strips are for compression strength where the corners of the bindings normally crush the wood core. We use 4 strips of high-density beech to increase the strength in this critical zone.

A diamond shaped fiberglass re-enforcement layer that is placed over the inserts. This comes on every StepChild board we press.

“The board comes from the factory with the option of pre-dulled edges between the bindings that gradually gets sharper as it reaches the nose and tail. Basically you can put bindings on it and dive into your local double kink without any hesitation. Its sick.” - JP

The board is pressed to resemble the bottom of a rocking chair. The rocker gives the board an easy riding feel as it is “pre flexed” going into turns. It works well for parks, jibs and surprisingly well in powder. New for this year are the well rounded Rocker 6mm Chi Borg models. For the Jib Stick this year we bracketed the Rocker to the board sizes. 148- 4mm, 153- 6mm, and 156-8mm.

Exclusively on the Jib Stick. A rubber strip is inserted in the boards sidewall. The main purpose of this is to act as a shock absorber.

The board is a true twin with a centered stance and sidecut. The tip and tail are identical.

The board looks very similar to a twin but actually has a slightly directional freestyle shape. It is designed to ride well in the park, pipe, and in the powder too. If you are an all around rider and want a board that can handle all types of terrain then this is the board for you.

The carbon stringers are added to the core of Simons’ board. This gives it a bit more pop and helps maintain the flex and life of the board.

The shape of this board is a directional taper that is designed for quick maneuverability in tight spots (like trees). It still has the benefit of being a smaller board shaped specifically for powder, the shorter tapered tail combined with the set back stance and the longer nose makes this board the most ideal for powder.

The Latchkey is the ideal entry-level park/rail board. The ArmorCore gives it a smooth and easy riding flex distribution and the true twin shape makes it great for park and rail riding. The things you will like about this board is that it rides great and is affordable. The bad thing about this board is that it will most likely get stolen by a bitter old bowl skater....Old skate graphics are cooler than old snowboard graphics.

There are a lot of things in snowboarding that suck. To name a few: road trip farts, blown knees, guys that wear nail polish, corporations claiming to be “core”, the word “core”, industry bitches, green washing, rain, ski resort marketing, and another company in snowboarding that used the whole powder sucks theme. If you look closely on this board you will find many more things that suck so try not to read it when you are riding or you’ll hit a tree-hopefully you’ll just hit a stupid team manager.

The True Twin shaping with the Kicker I Core makes this one of the easiest boards to ride in our line. Its got a forgiving flex pattern with pre cured biaxial glass and a glossy top sheet. We added a mid-wide 152 and 155 board to this series. The 12 inserts per foot gives this board a variety of stance options.

As the sun rise’s over the seashore her strapping white stallion gallops towards her, flexing softly. She is aroused by his stature and she shivers at the notion that he is also a twin!

The Harlequin is a great entry-level womens’ board. The twin shape and soft flex of this board makes it quite easy to ride and is a great cruising board. The base is screened and extruded. The fiberglass is biaxial and there are 10 inserts per foot. Simply put, this is just a toned down version of the Moustache Rider.

Page 11: 2010 Stepchild Catalog

Fun for those with small….feet. A step up from the Harlequin, the Moustache Rider is designed for the more advanced female rider looking for a quality board with a good twin shape. The Quadrax fiberglass and Kicker I core combination ensures a long life of smooth flex and poppy ollies. The Moustache Rider comes with a Structurn base and a smooth “soft belt” finish. The board also comes pre waxed so it’s fast and ready to shred right off the shelf.

The new series in the StepChild line this year-the all new reverse camber Chi-Borg. This Twin board comes with a reverse Kicker I core and 6mm of reverse camber/rocker. This board has a real buttery feel and it rides great for parks, jibs and also rides well in the powder. Much like the Jib Stick, this board is pre flexed going into the turns and ollies easily roll off the tail for a smooth pop.

The Corporate Board is a powerful all mountain board that is one of our teams’ favorites. The Kicker II core with the Quadaxial fiberglass gives this board a great all around feel. The directional shape won’t let you down on the heavy pow landings and the ample inserts (14 per foot) allows a large variety of stance options for all types of terrain including those spring park days. If you live in an area that has heavy snowfall during the winter and nicely groomed parks in the spring time then this is the board for you. When we first introduced this graphic in the line 5 years ago there were a lot of creeps in the industry. We re-launched this board graphic this year cause not much has changed.

This board is designed and guaranteed to improve your jibbing. The Reverse camber/Rocker design with the low profile nose/tail is a perfect combination for a buttery smooth jib board. New for this year we added a 156 and also bracketed the rocker for the different lengths (148-4mm, 153-6mm, 156-8mm) The Jib Stick also has a rubber sidewall strip to help absorb rail impact and a reverse Kicker I core for stable jibbing and landings. To make things even easier for jibbing, this board also comes with the option of RETT edges. If you suck at jibbing, maybe you just need to try this board.

“The Jib Stick is pretty much the only board I rode last season. They last forever, have tons of pop, and look fresh, pretty much a deadly combination. It comes with optional pre-dulled edges (RETT) so you don’t have to waste time with filing. Its still 2 legit 2 quit!” - Joe Sexton

“I’ve had more input on my StepChild pro models than any of my other boards in years past.”-JP

JP spared nothing when it came to the design of his second pro model with StepChild. The end result is an all around twin board that looks and rides great. New for this year we added a 157 twin and the kicker III core. The quadrax glass combined with the Kicker III core is a combination that crosses over well from the street to the backcountry. The JP board comes with a structurn base and a smooth “soft belt” finish. The board also comes pre waxed so its fast and ready to shred right off the shelf. The 14 pack inserts per foot allows for a very wide range of stance options. This board, like the Jib Stick, also comes with the RETT option.

As per JP’s request, the mini Pro Model is also available in size 138. *materials may differ on mini models.

“It’s been refreshing to ride for a company that cares so much about their products. StepChild is the sickest and I’m proud to be part of this team”-JP

This is Simon’s 5th season with a Pro Model on StepChild. The quadrax glass combined with the kicker III core and carbon stringers will ensure that this board retains its ollie pop well into the 100th day of riding. The Simon board comes with a structurn base combined with a smooth “soft belt” finish. The board also comes pre waxed so its ready to shred right off the shelf.

As per Simon’s request, a mini Pro Model is also available in size 136. *materials may differ on mini models.

“The stance on my new pro model is centered, the sidecut as well as the core is twin. I also chose to go with a slightly directional nose shape. The result is that you get a board that rides like a twin in the park as well as rails, jibs, etc and the nose will also stay above the snow in the pow. This combination is a perfect fit for my riding style.“ - Simon Chamberlain

This board is a must for your quiver on powder days. The directional tapered shape with the narrower tail allows for easy maneuverability in the tight trees. The nose shape combined with only 2mm camber, works for great floatation on the deepest powder days and is also stable for high-speed wide-open descents. This board makes powder riding effortless-the way it should be. We don’t suggest taking this board to Quebec City or Helsinki on your next rail trip.

Anyone sick of super mega Ltd edition collabs yet? Pierre Andre who runs Thirty-Two used to be a pro skater that did hand stands and cut his t-shirts to show his belly button. Regardless, he used to be a pro skater so we were down to do a collab with those guys. Give Pierre a break man it was the eighties.

This is the same board as the Powder Sucks model with the addition of this super mega Ltd edition collaberation - exclusive one time graphic! The True Twin shaping with the Kicker I Core makes this one of the easiest boards to ride in our line. The 12 inserts per foot gives this board a variety of stance options.
