Revote the 1/4 cent sales tax for a Crime Control District with which to continue pay-ing off the Public Safety Building.

Begin design of I-20 frontage roads between Carrier and Belt Line Road.

Remove the existing offset on Camp Wisdom Road at Robinson Road.

Develop new police patrol beats to enhance police service commensurate with increase in population.

Complete renovation of City Council Chambers.

Open Parkland Clinic.

Complete Lake Ridge widening from lake to Great Southwest Parkway; open Lake Ridge onto I-20; open Lynn Creek Parkway from Lake Ridge Parkway to SH 360.

Open SH 161.

Open I-30 frontage roads, connector roads and Park and Ride.

Open Paragon Outlet Mall.

Began $1 billion in road projects.

Opened a new airport terminal.

Hired new Grand Prairie Police Chief Steve Dye.

Grand Prairie Municipal Airport is soaring high with a brand new terminal in 2011.

• Began extension of Crossland from Robinson to SH 161

• Began extension of Forum from Waterwood to SH 161

• Began extension of Lake Ridge Parkway to I-20 at SH 161

• Began construction of Gifford and Bagdad west of MacArthur

• Started a Park and Ride lot on I-30 near Belt Line Road; began extension of NE 15th Street from Tarrant to I-30

• AirHogs won American Association of Professional Baseball National Championship

• Rebuilt sidewalks and parallel parking on south side of the 100 block of east Main Street

• Added a new parking lot across from Uptown Theater

• Named Playful City USA for 4th time

• Began design of new Dalworth Recreation Center

• Began design of a camp store at Loyd Park

• Launched new Walnut Creek Paddling Trail at Lake Joe Pool

• Introduced Rascal the Park Raccoon mascot

• Launched Rascal the Park Raccoon interactive adventure on YouTube

• Opened Bowles Trail• Built a new playground at Fish

Creek Forest using a Volunteer One Day Build

• Conducted Concerts in the Park at Central Park

• Converted former senior center to the Veterans Park Event Center

• Brought all new displays to the 2011 Prairie Lights

• Received top honors from the International Council on Active Aging for The Summit

• Honored with Arbor Day Gold Leaf Award of the Year for Arbor Day festivities

• Built a playground at Prairie Park in one day using volunteers

• Installed three new art pieces at Veterans Memorial and the Event Center

• Westchester PID completed a $1.5 million fence replacement project

Main Street facades got a makeover, restored to their 1950s glory, opening doors for an exciting new downtown.

Rascal the Park Raccoon led the way when opening the new Bowles Park Trail.

The AirHogs hit homeruns to become National Champions of the American Association of Professional Baseball.

• Painted a mural on wall in Animal Intake Room at Prairie Paws, thanks to South Grand Prairie High School honors art students

• Implemented water restrictions• Finalized a water purchase contract

with Arlington to provide for future water supply

• Replaced/renewed $2 million in water and wastewater lines

• Began operation of a reverse 911 emergency notification system

• Installed new customer friendly signage at the landfill

• Started Saturday pet adoptions at Petco

• Placed interactive maps on gptx.org• Banned cell phones in school zones• Launched multiple pet adoption

campaigns, finding more than 2,000 dogs and cats homes

• Offered first annual Lois Weber Film Festival, a partnership between the Library and Arts Council

• Placed an ambulance into service at Fire Station #7 at the Lake Parks

• Launched a new fire rescue/dive boat on Lake Joe Pool

• Began Drug Drop Off site at Police Headquarters, allowing residents to bring their unused prescription drugs to a safe disposal site

• Moved U.S. Marshal’s North Texas Fugitive Task Force into the Public Safety Building

• Established a Citizen Police Academy Class for the fall of each year, which now includes shooting and driving for the participants

• Established a Meritorious Conduct Board to formally recognize police employee achievements

• Developed a process for police officers to report street light outages for quicker repair

• Developed a Strategic Recruiting Plan to increase diversity in hiring police

• Doubled number of groups participating in National Night Out

• Implemented Composite Sketch Technology to better identify crime suspects

• Began developing Crime-Free Multi-Housing plan

• Installed fiber optic to: Grand Prairie Airport; Prairie Paws; Fire Stations #5, #6, #7 and #9; Tourist Center; and Warmack Library

• Assisted Super Bowl XLV with snow and ice control

• Repaired Robinhood Channel• Invested $9 million in street projects,

improving 28,705 feet (5.44 miles) of streets; and 3,879 feet (.73 mile) of alleys in Streets Sales Tax Program

• Rehabilitated eight foreclosed homes through 4HOME program

• Sold three 4GOV homes • Created 10 new homeowners from

the Section 8 program and Habitat for Humanity

City officials and dignitaries broke ground for the new Parkland Clinic.

Weekly events at Farmers Market attracted thousands to Market Square downtown on Saturdays.

The elegant Farmers Table dinner at Market Square wow’d guests with gourmet foods based on Farmers Market products.

Kirby Creek Outdoor Education Gardens got a complete makeover, growing its appeal to the 20,000 students and residents who visit each year.

• Widen and straighten Hunter-Ferrell between Belt Line Road and MacArthur

• Begin drainage improvements and repaving Freetown Road from Robinson Road to Corn Valley Road

• Open Crossland/Forum extensions across SH 161

• Open Sara Jane Parkway extension from behind the outlet mall to SH 360

• Complete right-of-way acquisition for Palace Parkway looping connection to I-30

• Begin extension of Sara Jane Parkway from its east dead end to Forum Drive

Goals for 2012

Grand Prairie residents enjoy free access to Lynn Creek Park on Lake Joe Pool.

More than 2,000 Prairie Paws Animal Shelter precious dogs and cats found homes.

Construction on SH 161 raced forward.

The Fire Department added a new rescue boat for emergency operations at Lake Joe Pool.

• Design Waterwood Road connecting Warrior Trail and Arkansas Lane through Central Park

• Design expansion of MacArthur Boulevard from two to four lanes from I-30 to Hunter-Ferrell Road

• Implement the landfill gas-to-energy project

• Complete a water transmission line jointly with the City of Midlothian to provide water to the eastern side of the south sector

• Develop five-year staffing plan for the police department

• Develop Neighborhood Police Officer Program and Problem-Solving Unit to enhance community policing efforts

• Reorganize police personnel to more effectively and efficiently provide service

• Improve streets and alleys through the ¼ cent sales tax for street improvements program

• Repair Jefferson Street Bridge over Mountain Creek Tributary

• Acquire two more properties for the 4GOV housing program
