2011annualreportWe're back again this year with another "numbers" edition for our Annual Report.

Back by request actually.

"I didn't know you do all that!" followed by "and for so many people?" is a frequent statement of admiration for our agency.

People new to Jewish Family Service and often even folks who have been around for some time as board members or supporters are frequently taken aback to learn the breadth and depth of our services.

Simply put, Jewish Family Service is the "do-ing" organization in our community.

We do whatever it takes to make sure one day our community will benefit from the Jewish Family Service vision of leading the way to a Jewish community where everyone lives with dignity, security, and hope.

We do this through four comprehensive program areas: Adoption Connection, Family Life Education, Vital Support Services, and Aging and Caregiver Services.

Within these four program areas are in excess of 37 distinct services. Doing these 37+ service areas are 31 staff, comprised overwhelmingly of licensed, master's degreed social workers, who personally work directly with clients. These experienced and professional staff members do the assessments, food distribution, care management,

the financial assistance distribution, information and resource referral, supportive counseling, and so much more. They are the ones who directly look into our clients’ eyes and hearts, hear their concerns, and become a private navigation guide leading each client toward a stronger future.

An additional 11 staff provide the support and infrastructure to make certain that our work has its intended impact.

That's 31 doers…plus 11 supporters…providing more than 37 programs…touching close to 3700 individual lives (and consider that those 3700 people have household and family members touched by our services as well, but who are not counted!). These numbers never fail to impress.

We do more than simply count how many unduplicated people we serve. We also consider metrics of improvement and impact. We assess and reassess progress, provide pre- and post-tests, administer surveys and track objective data. We know, for example, that 90% of children in our Bigs & Littles

program have shown an improved family relationship, 70% of our Older Adult clients are able to remain living independently, and 85% of clients who receive Vital Services are more self-sufficient and better able to manage their needs. We can demonstrate why and how what we do matters.

Take a good look at the numbers in this Annual Report of our doing organization. We're certain you'll learn something new about Jewish Family Service. And then tell a few friends and ask them to pass the information along.

Because we can't do it alone; we need supporters and champions like you to cheer us on, stand by our work, send along referrals, volunteer, and yes, write that check.

Together we can strengthen lives, strengthen families, and strengthen community.

Help us do it.

Respectfully,

Strengthening Lives... Strengthening Families...Strengthening Community...“Strengthening lives in times of need” is the heart of our mission statement. In 2011, the dedicated and experienced staff of Jewish Family Service directly strengthened the lives of 3,676 individuals. This number does not take into account how many times we personally helped each of these people in their times of need. Nor does it track the close family and friends of each individual. After all, strengthening one life strengthens the lives of many.
