SUMMIT FOR SOMEONE Mt. Whitney  Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming WOW! WHAT A RIDE.  Dear Family and Friends, Four years ago I reached out to many of you and together we were able to raise over $14,000 for Big City Mountaineers (BCM). I am very proud of this accomplishment and was humbled by the experience and generosity of my f amily and frie nds. Our fundrais ing fully funded 35 at-risk teens to participate in the BCM program. The experience with BCM and Summit for Someone was an incredible journey and I have always want ed to participate again. As a result, recently signed up to raise money for BCM and give high altitude Summit for Someone and will attempt to reach the highest peak in the continental United States...Mt. Whitney. While working towards the goal of getting to the top of this mountain I will again try to serve the needs of others. The fundraising for Big City Mountaineers is a significant part of this journey and it is very important to me personally. I have always had a strong desire t o serve my community and the less fortunat e. The Summit for Someone program gives me the opport unity to satisf y this need. This year I have a fund raising requirement of $3,800 to participate in the climb and set and hope that we can find a way to meet this goal and shine light on many lives. Mt. Whitney is a granite peak in the Sierra Nevada Range, located in the John Muir Wilderness and Sequoia National Park. The route we will be taking to the top is called the Mountaineer's Route and it is climbed year-round. The majority of winter and early spring atte mpts on the peak use this r oute. My goal is to reach the summit at 14,49 7 ft. From start to finish our journey is scheduled to take 4 days. As you can see from the picture above, this is going to be a challenging experience on some rather tough terrain. In order to be successful it will require discipline, dedication, and training. Most importantly I need your support to accomplish my goals in fundraising and preparing for the hike to the top. Was there someone who told you they believed in you? Or one pivotal moment where anything was possible? The funds raised for the climb will benefit an organization called Big City Mountaineers. The money will be used to fully fund at-risk youths participating in recreat ional mentoring trips. The mission of B ig City Mountaineers, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, is to provide urban teenage youths in need of positive adult mentoring with challenging and safe wilderness experiences led by qualified adult volunteer guides. The program consists of an 8-day backpacking or canoeing mentoring trip with 5 adult volunteers matched with 5 at-risk teens and a staff person from the perspective youth agency in one o and inspiring backcountry wilderness settings. At Big City Mountaineers we believe we can make a difference in the lives of under resourced young adults in urban areas across the U.S. through mentorship in the outdoors. We work with teens that currently have no access to the wilderness and, more often than not, no adult challenging them and celebrating their personal growth. We believe weeklong wilderness expeditions with caring adult mentors not only provide powerful experiences, but set the stage for lifelong learning and las ting relationships. SUMMIT FOR SOMEONE  Mt. Whitney

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and

well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out,and loudly proclaiming WOW! WHAT A RIDE.

Dear Family and Friends,

Four years ago I reached out to many of you and together we were

able to raise over $14,000 for Big City Mountaineers (BCM). I am very

proud of this accomplishment and was humbled by the experience and

generosity of my family and friends. Our fundraising fully funded 35at-risk teens to participate in the BCM program.

The experience with BCM and Summit for Someone was an incredible

journey and I have always wanted to participate again. As a result,

recently signed up to raise money for BCM and give high altitude

Summit for Someone and will attempt to reach the highest peak in the

continental United States...Mt. Whitney.

While working towards the goal of getting to the top of this mountain I

will again try to serve the needs of others. The fundraising for Big City

Mountaineers is a significant part of this journey and it is very

important to me personally. I have always had a strong desire to servemy community and the less fortunate. The Summit for Someone

program gives me the opportunity to satisfy this need. This year I have

a fund raising requirement of $3,800 to participate in the climb and set

and hope that we can find a way to meet this goal and shine light on

many lives.

Mt. Whitney is a granite peak in the Sierra Nevada Range, located

in the John Muir Wilderness and Sequoia National Park. The

route we will be taking to the top is called the Mountaineer's

Route and it is climbed year-round. The majority of winter and

early spring attempts on the peak use this route. My goal is toreach the summit at 14,497 ft. From start to finish our journey is

scheduled to take 4 days.

As you can see from the picture above, this is going to be a

challenging experience on some rather tough terrain. In order to

be successful it will require discipline, dedication, and training.

Most importantly I need your support to accomplish my goals in

fundraising and preparing for the hike to the top.

Thank you for your support!

Pretty amazing how a mentor and a compass can put a young

person

When you think back on your life, and the formative moments, what

do you see? Was there someone who told you they believed in you?Or one pivotal moment where anything was possible?

The funds raised for the climb will benefit an organization called Big

City Mountaineers. The money will be used to fully fund at-risk youths

participating in recreational mentoring trips. The mission of Big City

Mountaineers, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, is to provide urban teenage

youths in need of positive adult mentoring with challenging and safe

wilderness experiences led by qualified adult volunteer guides. The

program consists of an 8-day backpacking or canoeing mentoring trip

with 5 adult volunteers matched with 5 at-risk teens and a staff person

from the perspective youth agency in one o

and inspiring backcountry wilderness settings.

At Big City Mountaineers we believe we can make a difference in thelives of under resourced young adults in urban areas across the U.S.

through mentorship in the outdoors. We work with teens that

currently have no access to the wilderness and, more often than not,

no adult challenging them and celebrating their personal growth. We

believe weeklong wilderness expeditions with caring adult mentors

not only provide powerful experiences, but set the stage for lifelong

learning and lasting relationships. With your support and Big City

delivering transformative wilderness experiences.
