    Scottish Roads Works Register v3.3 Training

    In March 2011 Symology will be upgrading the Scottish Road WorksRegister to run the latest version of the Register software, V3.3. Thisupgrade signals the start of Symologys new 5 year contract as serviceprovider for the Register. To introduce the changes expected in the newsystem the following training is now being organised.

    240 places on a one-day General SRWR Workshop. This is a new hands-onworkshop scheduled for 20 dates between the 22nd February 2011 and the 25th

    March 2011.

    5 one-day SRWR Seminars at various locations throughout Scotland. These arescheduled to take place between the 7th March 2011 and the 18th March 2011.

    Please note there is no charge to attend any of these events.These courses and seminars are free!

    A detailed description of the training is given below;

    General SRWR Workshop

    This workshop is aimed at the general community of SRWR users, and is onlyappropriate for those who already have experience of using the SRWR. There aretwo prime objectives for this workshop;

    1. Provide full training on the new facilities in Version 3.3 of the SRWR, in

    particular the major additional functionality to the Inspections system,demonstrating how this meets the needs of the new Inspections Code ofPractice.

    2. Identify areas of the SRWR, and/or associated procedures, where it isthought there may be a general lack of understanding, or where thefunctionality is not being used to maximum effect, using case study exampleswith the objective of improving performance.

    Improving Performance

    Identifying real problems that occur on the SRWR live system. How to monitor performance Best Practice guidelines in various areas, e.g. Defective Apparatus. Using task list (with new highlighting and dashboard functionality) to

    ensure rule conformance. Making full use of enquiry and monitoring facilities. Focus on existing areas of functionality that have not been utilised

    extensively. Using maps or areas of interest to highlight information in

    geographical areas. Tips and Tricks in using SRWR facilities.

    Workshop Booking InstructionsAll organisations currently making use of the SRWR will be guaranteed 4 places onthese courses. Any places not taken will be offered back to the community withpriority given to larger organisations. Bookings will be made using the SRWRwebpage, with a form available to allow you to book places and indicate how manyadditional places you desire for your organisation. Booking will be taken between11th January 2011 and the 18th February 2011. Please ensure you book early toavoid losing your allocation.

    SRWR Seminars

    The intention of these seminars is to provide a general update to users across thecommunity, including infrequent or less regular users of the SRWR and managementstaff, to ensure that they are aware of the full potential of what is being offered in thelatest version of the Scottish Road Works Register. The seminars will usePowerPoint presentations accompanied by demonstrations of the latest version ofthe software.
