Welcome to Toigo’s second annual Toigo Groundbreaker’s Summit—a new type of investment conference where the investment is in you, your professional growth and achievements.

Based upon the success of our inaugural event, we’re continuing the focus on topics that address the agenda of women in leadership. Given the increased number of women-owned and managed investment funds and small businesses, this year’s dialogue will include entrepreneurship. We’ll also put the spotlight on public service, and the important role of women serving our communities in the public pension arena. Throughout the Groundbreakers agenda, we will feature speakers who illuminate philanthropy, social

impact investing, vision and aspiration, and the spirit of diversity—all core tenets of the Toigo mission.

As part of our All A Board initiative to promote increased diversity in the boardroom, we are pleased to present a complementary session co-moderated by CalPERS and CalSTRS on diversity in governance. During this afternoon session, we’ll take a closer look at the nominating and candidate evaluation process to help you think about your current profile and positioning for future board service. This will be followed by a networking reception providing all attendees a chance to meet leaders of different organizations—including non-profits, foundations and public companies—committed to finding the best board talent.

Groundbreakers builds on Toigo’s 20+ year track record and service to under-represented and unidentified talent. Our goal is to foster conversations and connections that transcend industry lines—an important element of leadership in today’s environment.

On behalf of the Pioneers of Progress event committee and the outstanding women who serve on the Toigo board, I thank TimeWarner for its support in hosting our 2013 gathering at its beautiful conference facility, our many corporate supporters, and the many non-profit organizations that helped promote Groundbreakers to their members.
