NAPTINGRADUATESKILLSDEVELOPMENTPROGRAMMEIntroductoryletterThe Power Sector and in particular PHCN successor companies are deficient of adequatetechnicalmanpowerrequiredinGeneration,TransmissionandDistributionsystems.Someofthesedeficiencies are largelydue to ageing technicalworkforce, exit through retirement ordeath, poor skills and lack of training and exposure to new trends in technologicaladvancement.Statistical information gathered from PHCN successor companies puts the immediatetechnicalmanpowerrequirementinGeneration,TransmissionandDistributioncompaniestosustaintheongoingexpansionandgrowthintheindustryatabout8,400skilledemployees,while in 5 years a total of about 16,200 additional skilled technical manpower will berequired. This huge gap between the skilled manpower holding and skilled manpowerrequired is increasingannually,and there is theurgentneed tobearrest the trendwithoutfurtherdelay.Thebesttimetodothisisnow,toavoidacollapseoftheentirepowersystem.It isagainst thisbackgroundandunderstanding thatNAPTINhas carefullypackagedtogetheraGraduateSkillsDevelopmentProgramme(GSDP)forthePowerSector.TheGSDP isaoneyear internship trainingprogramme,designed toequipgraduateswithinterest inmaking a career in the power sectorwith the relevant skills thatwouldmakethemeffectiveinthesector.Theprogrammewillequipthem,withintheoneyearwith requisite skills and practical knowhow, required to make them ready forengagement in the different fields and professions ofGeneration,Transmission andDistribution Sector of the Electricity Industry chain. To achieve this goal, NAPTINcannot do this alone, definitely we shall need the understanding, buyin and totalcooperationofeverystakeholderinthePowerSector.

With the outstanding support and approvalwe have received from the Presidency and theHon.MinisterofPoweronthisprogramme,weareinnodoubt,thatwewouldreceivesimilarcooperation fromoursistercompaniesacrossGeneration,TransmissionandDistribution inorder to make the programme a wholesale success. This when done will bring about thedesiredadvancementandimprovementinthePowerSectorofourcountry.TheGraduateSkillsDevelopmentProgramme,isexpectedtocommenceduringthefirstweekofSeptember2012.About1,000graduatesareexpectedtobeadmittedfortheprogramme.These 1,000 candidates would go through an intensive and interactive orientation andclassroom lectures for about 3 months, While the remaining 9 months will be for fieldinternship programme, whereby the participants will be distributed into group acrossgenerations,transmissionanddistributionsectorsforonthejobpracticallearning.

Withinthisperiodof field internship,NAPTINincollaborationwiththeCEOsofGeneration,Transmission and Distribution Companies will provide the trainees with experiencedengineers, who will serve as their field supervisors in their various groups sent to thecompanyforfieldinternship.NAPTINiswellpositionedtorebuildinganewPowerSectorwithskilledandhighlymotivatedworkforce, that canmove the Power sector to the next level, through this Graduate SkillsDevelopmentProgramme.Pleaseaccepttheassurancesofourhighestregards

RE: OFFER OF PROVISIONAL ADMISSION INTO NAPTINGRADUATESKILLSDEVELOPMENTPROGRAMME(NGSDP)

CONDITIONSFORTHECONFIRMATIONOFOFFER.

All applicants who have been offered provisional admission into theNAPTINGraduateSkillsDevelopmentProgramme,areherebynotifiedthatthe confirmation of the offer made to them is subject to the conditionslistedbelow.

1) Payment of the course fee of N750,000.00 (SevenHundred andFiftyThousandnairaonly),orpaymentofadepositof30%ofthecoursefee(N225,000.00)whilethebalanceof70%wouldbepaidin not more than 2 instalments of 30% within 6 months of theprogramme,and40%beforetheendoftheprogramme.

2) In the case of withdrawal from the programme before itscommencement,theinstituteshouldbenotified2weeksbeforethedateofregistration. Feespaidwouldberefunded, less5%administrative charges,while deposit paid,will be forfeited iftheinstituteisnotnotifiedinadvanceinanycaseofwithdrawalfromtheprogramme.

3) Please note that the course fee is exclusive of the cost ofaccommodation, therefore candidates are expected to makearrangementsfortheiraccommodation.

4) Candidates would be required to present the originals of

Certificate(s)oranyothercredentialonthebasisofwhichthisofferhasbeenmade.

5) Candidateswouldberequiredtopresentevidencefromarecognizedmedical practitioner, certifying physical and mental fitness toundergothe12monthtrainingprogramme.

6) If before, during or after registration, an applicant is found not tohave the qualification he or she claimed to have, is FALSE ORINCORRECT, he or she will be adviced to withdraw from theprogramme.

7) Lettersattestingtothegoodconductandcharacterofcandidatefrom2 notable personswould be required, in view of the exclusive andrestrictivenatureofsomeoftheworklocationscandidateswouldbedeployedinthecourseoftheprogramme.

8) Confirmationoftheprovisionalofferwillbepurelyonthefirstcomebasis,evidencedbypaymentoffees.

Forclarity,onlythefirst500candidateswhomeettheconfirmationofadmissionrequirementsasspecifiedabove,willbeadmittedintotheprogramme,whileothersoutsidethefirst500,wouldbeplacedonthesubsequentrun.
