This exercise investigated the latent meaning of words by exploring the relationship of word-actions and action-spaces. Each of the three topographies must now act as a setting for an artifact. The artifact is 4’ tall, and 8’ x 16’ in breadth and has an uninterrupted surface. The position of the artifact must be carefully considered in relation to the unique characteristics of each topography. The nal step of the project combines these three elements in the construction of one architectonic assemblage to link together individual moments [program] in its design. The link being the theme of Greek myth to tell a narrative of each programs of the door, window, and stairs.

Case Study’s are an in-depth, investigative analysis of a building, its design composition site, geom-etry, organizational logic etc. Therefore, taking this assignment provided a unique window into the design process and provide a way of unpacking the logic, relationships and generation of an Architectural work. Through this investigation we investigated the building in a graphic manner and exploring the design principles that make up our Case Study project. I enjoyed the simpliesty of Ando’s approach to the chapel on Mt. Rokko and learned the deeper meaning behind these simpliestic design. This was a great inspira-tional assignment and experience for me.

My rst ever competition during the summer was a wonderful experience. I had a chance to learn and under-
stand what I have to do to push myself to grow outside of studio. Though it wasn’t rst place I was very satised with the Merit Award. Next time, I am going to do even
better and do my best to get placed higher. I really enjoyed designing a kitchen to serve everyone
from grandchildren to adults that may benet everyone and promote long-term residence that leads to vibrant
communities and neighborhoods.
