Concluding CommentsConcluding Comments• Design and construction in karst geology is uniquely

challengingchallenging.• Micropiles are a feasible deep foundation supportelements in karst.elements in karst.

• Care must be taken to sufficiently characterizesubsurface conditions during design and confirmduring construction.

• Contract documents need to be developed to capturethe design intent without being overly restrictive;the design intent without being overly restrictive;karst demands the ability to adapt to erratic andvarying conditionsvarying conditions.

• Experience is essential.
