Purpose: Airway Management is a critical skill in Anesthesia. Thiscourse is designed to provide participants with state-of-the-art infor-mation and hands-on experience to ensure effective and appropriatemanagement of difficult and failed airways.

Target audience: The Difficult Airway Course: Anesthesia is intendedfor healthcare providers including, Anesthesiologists, NurseAnesthetists and Anesthesiologist Assistants.

Course objectives: Upon successful completion of the course, theparticipant will be able to: 1. Anticipate and manage the difficult air-way; 2. Identify and manage the failed airway; 3. Understand thespecial case of the failed airway in obstetrics and pediatrics; and 4.Perform an awake intubation in the predicted difficult airway.

Accreditation: This activity has been planned and implemented inaccordance with the essential areas and policies of the AccreditationCouncil for Continuing Medical Education through the joint sponsor-ship of Hospital Physician Partners and Airway ManagementEducation Center. Hospital Physician Partners is accredited by theACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Fiberoptic Lung Separation Workshop (Optional) In this pre-course workshop, participants learn and practice lungseparation techniques in airway simulators. The Workshop focuseson left and right double lumen tube placement with confirmation of placement and troubleshooting. Use of bronchial blockers and options for lung separation in the difficult airway are also covered. Enrollment is limited. Pre-registration is required.
