Recently Rochester Schoolsstudents visited a play in

AgustinianoNorteSchool,located

in Bogota Colombia. I had the

chance of joining them and

appreciate this performance

made my 4 people from the

outside. The play was really

simple, and even when the

performersmadeclearwhattheywantedtoshow,thewaytheplay

was made in a way that let the

publicwishalotmore.Theplay

showed numerous works of the

talented writer William

Shakespeare in a particular way,

whichinvolvedthestarringofthe

guys in a performing class, for

making the several

interpretations more coherent.

Thisperformance,inmyopinion,

waspoorandnotevenclosetoa

good one. This, based on the

analysisIwiththehelpofsome

partners made about this

interpretation,themistakeswerenot to much, but we must take

intoaccountthatthedialogsand

expressions that the actors must

execute were ones that easily a

person of our school can do and

probably in a better and more

competent way that will let the

public more surprised and

interested. The curious way inwhichtheactorssingedthesongs

withtheirmouthclosed,takesus

to a point of deception and

producednotjustthemadnessof

beingdeceived,butthefeelingof

shame that caused the

incompetent work. I must be

sincereandadmitthattheideaof

makingaplayinwhichnumerous

oftheworksofShakespearewere

shownisjustamazing,butIthink

that the opportunity was lost

when this project was mandated

tothisgroupofpeople.

Besides,theEnglishlevelofthestudentsmaynotbeperfect,but

thelevelmanagedinthisplay,

wassomethingsimilartothe

almosteverymomentinit.

WhenIenteredtothe

school,itwaslocatednear

Cedritos,andforyearswe

trustedinthepromise

madebyJuanPabloAljure,

ourprincipal.Hetold,we

wouldhaveanewschool,abetterandmore

confortableone,inwhich

ourdevelopmentwillbebetter.Somepeoplebelieveinhim,somedidnot,

butindependently,heaccomplishedhisgoals,andconstructsanewand

awesomeschool,inwhichIhavethefortunetostudyintoday.

Ididntthinkchangingofschoolwillbeabigdeal,andactually,itwasnt,

butoffcoarse,thechangesarealot,andwiththischanges,a

responsibilityofadaptionisneeded.Isabiggerschool,isamorecomplex

institution,andisaunknownterritoryforpeopleasme,thatwereusedto

knoweverymeterofaspacedesignatedforlearning,astheRochester

Schoolusedtobeforme.

Ithinkthereasonthischange

didntaffectmeinbadways,

wasbecauseIalwayscounton

myfriends,andIhadde

Thisschool,morethananexcellentone,isoneinwhich

ArmeroTragedy

The Armero tragedy was one of

the major consequences of the

eruption of the Nevado del Ruizstratovolcano in Tolima, Colombia

on November 13, 1985. After 69

years of dormancy, the volcano's

eruption caught nearby towns

unaware, even though the

government had received warnings

to evacuate the area from multiple

volcanological organizations when

volcanic activity had been detected

in September 1985.

As pyroclastic flows erupted from

the volcano's crater, they melted

the mountain's glaciers, sendingfour enormous lahars (volcanically

induced mudslides, landslides, and

debris flows) down its slopes at

60 kilometers per hour (40 miles

per hour). The lahars picked up

speed in gullies and coursed into

the six major rivers at the base of

the volcano; they engulfed the

town of Armero, killing more than

20,000 of its almost

29,000 inhabitants.

English Reading

Reading habits have always been adifficult habit for many of us, andfor this one of the goals inRochester school is developing this

unique love for the reading throughmultiple methods. For years, thereading in the school, has beenobligatory, in order of achievingthe corresponding learningexpectations, even tough, theconditions of the readings classes

has vary each year depending in the teachers ideals and thoughts. Many yearsago, we, the students of 9 grade form Rochester School, used to read kids

books based on the drawings and the availability of them in the library, buttrough the years, the conditions of choosing a personal book, have increased inmultiple aspects including understanding, and a complex selection of topics.

Nowadays, we count with a project in English class that involves the freeselection of books in English, in order of developing this reading habit in ourlives. This project is based on reading 10 minutes each class, in total silenceand with the more concentration possible for each of us. The books vary fromcomplex one, to easy one such as Captain Underpants, but even with this types

of books, the fact of allowing them, is producing an environment were thereading is each class obtaining more love and passion.

In my opinion, projects like these, are the ones that really cause an effect in as,because they are not trying to develop a habit instantly in ourselves, but doingit, slowly an calmly. However, there are things that must be controlled andimproved, such as the carrying of the book to every English class.

Open HeartedDid you open a frog when you studied? Many people have. In manyeducative institutions is a requisite for approving biology in a specific

period in school. Even tough many of us havent, but as me, manyhave had the chance of looking the real form of a real heart. Thisyear, the Rochester School students had the opportunity of openinga cow heart for witnessing the conditions of this.

The project was, simple, but even when a heart seems easy to find, Ilooked for it in three different stores, before finding it, given thispart of the cow, is not very desire. My group and I bought it for20,000 pesos, and took it to the school after a night in the

refrigerator. We took it out for biology class, place it on top of atray, and heard slowly to the instructions of the teacher.He clarify, that even when our hearts were a lot smaller, the formand functions of the heart, were the same as ours.

We began cutting the right side of it and noticed some valves thatmove the blood to the lungs and noticed that the walls of the side

were not very thick. The continued later with the cut of the left sideand we also noticed valves, and we saw that the walls of this side

were a lot more thicker than the other side`s.We ended cutting the heart as wewanted, in order of clarifyingwith fact our doubts about thedevelopment in the heart.

This types of experiments dontjust allow the properunderstanding of complex organs

like this one, but make a betterand much more funny class foreverybody. This types of classesare the one that the studentsreally enjoy and appreciate.

The businesses are the ones that move

our world, and the ones that maintain

the relations in our nations. Without

them, the interest in other nations will

decreasetotallyandtherelationswillof

coursebedamaged.

However, the businesses can act totally

backwards,andkilltherelationfromone

country with another, and for this the

exchange of goods must be traded carefully. Taking into account the

economic sectors, and how can they be spread in order of a good

developmentinaenterprise.The project of creating a model of an enterprise is being developed in

Rochester School, and is centered in the mount of a competent and

internationalcompanythatsellsagoodoraproduct.

Theconditionsofthiscompany,varyfromtheevaluationofhowwillitbe

obtained,produces,transported,andfinallysell.Inmypersonalcase,my

projectissharedwithJuanClavijo,andweareplanningaCob`sCompany.

Giventhisisaproductthatinvolvesmany

conditions, such as a complex production

that counts with heavy technology andseveral workers, we can show how the

primary sector of economy interacts with

thisproduct,andgiventhemajorsellisin

placesweretheproductiondoesnotoccur,

the transportation is an important aspect

tohaveinmind,inwhichwecanshowthe

thirdsectorofeconomy.

Theideaistocreateanenterprisethatjust

sellstheproduct,andtaketheresponsibilityofhiringotherentities,

specializedintheproductionofthisproductandtransportationfor

makingabetterandmoreefficientcompanywithhigherprofitsand

higherreputationwithclients.

Besides,theenterprisemodelmustbepossibleandwemustshowhow

andwhatdotheprojectneedforcompletingit.

Thenewer,theBetter.

Nowadays or nations count on several attack techniques that includes

airplanesandprojectileslaunchers,butdecadesbefore,theonlywayof

attackingtroughdistancewasthecatapult,andforyears,thisinventions

helpedhundredsofconquestsallroundtheworld.Thisinventionstarted

likeagame,saidmanypeople,butsomesaidthatsincethefirstmoment

The creation of a catapult

maybeverysimple,butthe

difficulties. This is a verycommon creation in all

schools around the world,

andinthiscase,wewilltalk

about the catapults made in

Rochester School. These

creations started past year,

andhaventbeenended,but

until now, the methods and

waysofmakingthemareseveral,includingcompetentinventionstopoorand fragile inventions. My invention is based on a stick supported by

elastics that allow the shoot when the stick is pulled down producing

tension and permit the enough strength to produce the shoot. In other

projectsthegravityistheonethatactuallygivesthestrengthoftheshoot,

butallofthem,eveniftheyarenotcompetent,usealotofimagination

andreasoning.

In this project the goal in creating a catapult capable of launching an

object6ft.long,andmadeupofmaterialseasilyfind.Talkingintoaccount

thephysicslaws,andhowtheaspectsoftheobjectandcatapultwillwork

togetherforthebetterresult.

Colombia Rules U-20Soccer has excited many nations through years, causing uncountable

feelingsallaroundtheworld.Troughyears,thechampionshipshavebeen

thecenterofattentionintheentireworldinmanyperiodsoftheyears,

andhavecausemillionsof

smiles and cries. These

tournaments include the

World Championship,

where some selected

countriescompeteforthe

tittle of being the best

team of the year.

However, there are other

championships less

important, like the South

ThenewEraHasArrived

American U-20 played regularly counting with the south countries of

America. This year the tournament included countries like Paraguay,

Brazil,Uruguay,Chile,inothers.

ThisyearthechampionshipstartedandevenwhenColombiawasnotthe

favoriteteam,oratleastthemorehopeful,itwonthecompetitionafter

several matches during al the tournament. This team started with an

incredible development, showing how compromised with they country

theteamwas.Thecalmnessandconcentrationwastotal,andevenwhen

somemistakeswerecommittedtheteamdidnotlostthefadeandended

withthegratificationofanalmostperfectchampionship.Howeverthere

ofcoursewerefailsandwholesintheorganizationoftheteam,thatwere

showedinnumerousmatcheslikethetwothatweredisputedwithChile,

inwhichtheColombianteam,lost.

The team played mostly with the sticker Quintero, who was a huge

supporttotheteamofColombia,andmadethevictoryamoreaccessibleaim.Thegoalkeeperwasalsoahugesupport,andbecausehim,Colombia

hadthelessgoaledarc,hisnameisCristianBonilla.

Decisionsthatcaneasilybetakeingoodways,butevenwiththissimple

andethicconditions,manyofourfriendstakethewrongdecisions.Suchasthepathofdrugs,thatcanruinyourlifeaseasy,astheyaretoobtain.

Thedrugshavehelpourworld,Iwontwaytheydont,butthewronguse

thattheworldisgivingtothemhascausemoredamagethathowmuch

theyhavehelptheworld.Thedrugs`effectsvaryinhundredsofways,

includingrelaxingstagestostrainedones.

TheRitalin,isatypeofdrugsknownalsoasDietCoke,Smarties,and

othercodednamesinthestreets,andtheyareusuallyusedbypeople

howwantahigherdevelopmentintheiracademiclife,ormaybejusttheirdailydevelopment.TheRitalinisadrugdiagnosedbypsychiatriststo

Formanypeople,thisisawayofliving,awayoffeelingcomplete,andawayofunderstandingtheirselves.Weashumanscan`tfly,orwecant

exceedaconsiderablevelocitybyourselves,bygivenourwayofthinking,

ourinventionsallowsustofeelthisexperienceseasily.Thecars,the

bikes,theairplanes,ormaybejusttherollercoasters,helpusfeelingthis

uniqueexperiences,butforsomepeople,thisexperiences,unusualforus,

aretheusualforthem,andgiventhesensation,itsnotenoughforthem..

Andatthatpoint,iswhentheboundariesaremade,there`swherethe

Thespeedincarsandbikeshasbeenarecordsinceyears,anduntilnow

thatrecordisbeingbroacked.Buttoday,wewonttalkaboutvelocity,

FrenchAd,AnewChallengeInNinthGrade.

Haveyoueverdoneacommercial?Beingcreativeisthemostimportant

partofdoingthesetypesofvideos.Thepointofalmostallofthemisto

proportionatesomething,butthereareso many clichs, that the work

ofcreatingsomethingnew,hasbecomingahardandstressful.

Maybemanypeoplewouldjustselectaneasyproductiftheyweregoing

tomakeanAd,butnoteverybody,andthatswhatwenoticedin French

Class at Rochester School. The project was planned for us, ninth grade

students, and the goal was making a commercial in French,prohibiting

the consumption of alcohol under 18, and the persuasion of not over

consumingit.Mycommercialwasmadewith4morepeople,anditwas

verysimple,eventhoughthemakingandfilmingof it, wasactually very

difficult, given the lack of experience we presented. Our commercial

startedbyshowingahighandexpensivegin,promotingtheconsumption

of this, but it suddenly changes, making the alcohol look bad, and un

propertoeverybody.

The consumption of alcohol is the responsible of hundreds of deaths,

thousandsofkidshatingtheirparents,thousandsoffightsbetweenyour

morelovedfriends,andmillionsofforgottenmemories.Theconsumptionofalcohol,changeyou,changethewayyouare,anditissad,howmuch

people,wantstoanotheroneforbeinghappy.Theconsumptionofthese

substances is not just because they can make you look bad, or make

mistakes you will regret on the next morning, It actually hurt you, and

hurtthewayyourbodywilldevelopinthefuture.Thealcoholinhibitsthe

nervous system, which controls how you take decisions, and when this

systemisinhibit,thedecisionsaretakenjustbecauseyouthinkitcould

befunnyormaybejustbecauseafriendthoughyouwontdoit.

Whenyoudrink,youareharmingyourbody,butwhenyouareunder18,

and you drink, you are killing your self. Your body is still under

development,andwhatyouaredoingbyconsumingalcoholisavoiding

the good process of it. Wouldnt be sad when you see your youth and

you`llknowthatifyouwouldntdrankatthattime,youwillofcoursebe

smarter,healthier,andyourconsciouswouldntbethatdirty.It`stimeto

wait, and know the teen-agers are not still ready for this chaotic

substances.Beresponsible,thinkwise.

Leversaremachinesusedtoincreaseforce.Giventhishavetwoparts,

foot,thatallowsahugehelpforraisingthebody,whiletheleverinthe

elbowhavenoamechanicgaining.Whyisthis?Thisisbecausethesetwo

levers are not of the same grade, and the elbow one is of grade 3.The

levers of grade 3 are not too good given they force you to make more

forcethanifyouwerejustliftingthebodyyouaremoving.

What would you use for making a lever? We are going to use wood,

screws,aweight,andofcoursearubberbandthatrepresentsthemuscles

locatedinyourarmthatwillhelptheliftofthisobject.Theforcethatthe

moment?Procrastination is an issue almost everybody have present in

a unique and perfect future. Letting the things for later, make
