Dear TMI Community,

It’s a pleasure to return to active service at TMI at such an exciting and optimistic time in the life of the school. A former trustee, I’m now a member of the Board of Governors and chairman of the Advancement Committee. On the personal side, my wife Virginia and I are TMI parents twice

over, of a son who’s a proud alumnus and a daughter who is a current sixth grader. So much has changed since our son graduated in 2007, and yet so many essentials of a TMI

education have stayed the same. Enrollment has grown significantly, as more families are attracted by our academic excellence and commitment to educating well-rounded students. Our community worships in the beautiful All Saints Chapel, the Corps of Cadets has added a fourth company, and our students have the opportunity to take courses in fields such as finance and digital art. Today’s TMI also boasts new track and field facilities, an observatory with a state-of-the-art telescope, and a robotics program that competes at the national level.

With all this growth and progress, we have retained the community spirit and personal attention that have always been a part of the TMI experience. Not surprisingly, you – alumni, parents and other friends of TMI – have responded to all these positive changes with unwavering support. We especially thank Blackstone Dilworth ’47 for his gifts that established the Panther Matching Challenge, which has dramatically increased alumni giving two years in a row and inspired Les Ballard ’52 to make his own gift for this year’s Challenge. Last year, our annual gala, Stars Over TMI, honored two distinguished professors, Virgil Espino and Mario Rivela and netted a record amount in funds raised.

As a parent, I feel confident that TMI is the best place for my daughter to get an education that will prepare her for success in college and beyond. As part of the school’s leadership, I feel equally confident that our community will continue to meet the challenges of ensuring an even brighter future.
