the foundation for our modern languages grade 8 one-act plays project. Students further augment their French oral, written expression, presentation and multi-media skills while working in teams on dramatic productions.

SolisterraIntegrating service, environmental principles, math and physics, grade 8 students learn how to build facilities in an off-grid community in western Quebec.

Grade 9CSI & Science FairStudents learn to apply the scientific method to a real-world problem — a mock murder at the school! experts teach students about their areas of forensic science. All the while, students further develop research, presentation and ICT skills as part of the science fair component. This is problem solving at its best!

Grade 10Youth and Philanthropy Initiative (YPI)In partnership with the Toskan Casale Foundation, ypI is a year-long col-laborative service project with a local grassroots organization, integrating english, French, ICT and ethics. Students truly learn the meaning of Non Nobis Solum and volunteerism while honing their bilingual writing, presentation and mulit-media skills.

Programme d’enrichissement/Enrichment Programme (PREP)An interdisciplinary programme incorporating the core ideas and literary heritage of the west-ern tradition — in both languages (i.e., integrating english, French and his-tory). “prep” students are given a more intense in-troduction to the research and essay-writing skills they will need to develop for post-secondary studies. This is ideal preparation

for students interested in pursuing the Ib Diploma programme.

Grade 11Courage Canada Skating ProgrammeThe student leadership project, in collaboration with the Montreal Associ-ation for the blind and the philip e. Layton school, is focused on “bringing the blind to the ice one stride at a time.”

Grades 7 – 11Round Square MembershipLCC is the only school in Montreal to be a member of the round Square. with a membership of almost 100 of the leading schools from around the world, round Square provides students with leadership, service, and global edu-cation opportunities.

middle school features a progressive student-centred academic programme and a wide range of co-curricular activities that includes athletics, the arts, leadership, service and character development. middle school teachers actively challenge their students to grow academically, socially and athletically. they help to develop the literacy, numeracy and learning skills they’ll need for the challenges of the senior school programme. students learn in a laptop environment that reinforces the development of independent learning and intellectual self-sufficiency. they are encouraged to think creatively, take intellectual risks and reflect on their own learning styles as they become independent and motivated learners.

Lcc’s senior school is an exceptionally rich environment, brimming with academic challenge and bustling with community, athletic and social activity. grade 9, 10 and 11 students know that they are preparing not only for their future studies but for lives as passionate and engaged members of society. our senior school is a student-centred learning environment where students work independently, problem solve, think critically and create. students are expected to be deeply involved in the life of the school: opportunities abound to participate in international exchanges and service trips, clubs, leadership activities, athletics and the arts. students are also expected to give back to the community through Lcc’s service programme.
