TESTIMONY FROM THE MISSION FIELD Hi Keith,Just a little encouragement from SA: In the middle of the shacks in Lavender Hill, Cape Town, there is a church. Next to it lives a man with enough scars in his face for people to know that he has been in prison more than once. Although he has found Jesus, people around don’t really trust him. We gave him your DVD More than Dreams and he is so excited by it that he wants to show one of the testimonies to his church and wants to challenge them to do outreach to the community around them. He will join our team on Thursday. Your DVD is still a powerful tool used by the Holy Spirit.Thank you and praise the Lord

Later news from the fieldThe Story of Khalil from More than Dreams is being formatted into a comic book by our missions coordinator in East Africa. His God-given talents are being used to bring people in danger-ous communities to the knowledge of Christ. In their areas it is too dangerous to openly show the DVD in public and the people are too poor to own DVD players, so the best means is to convey the message through a comic book story. Already our missionaries there are using small audio devices to present the drama-tized version of THIS IS THE VICTORY in Kiswahili and have seen hosts of people come to faith in Christ for which we give the LORD all the glory!

Dear Friend,Our exciting new Superbook® series in-troduces children to the adventure and wonder of knowing God through the sto-ries of the Bible. Traveling from Creation to Revelation, this state-of-the-art anima-tion will teach children powerful lessons about God’s love and plan, while keeping them wonderfully entertained.

[For instance] Superbook: “He Is Risen!” takes viewers back in time to when Jesus obeys His Father in heaven, although it means giving up His life. You will witness how He shows love for His mother, Mary, even while on the cross. Most importantly, you will learn that through Jesus’ obedience, He opens the way for us to have a relationship with God. Gordon Robertson, CBN CEO CBN Africa is trusting that the first 13 episodes of the new SUPER-BOOK series will be completed mid-2013 and that licensing agreements will soon thereafter be set up with TV channels thoughout the continent, leading to the DVD release to churches and individuals. We are request-ing partners and friends to pray for the Lord’s guidance in regard to the timing and the outcome of negotiations. If you would like to be included in an invitation to preview an episode of the series, please call or drop a line to CBN Africa - contact details at foot of page 3.

FROM DEGENERATION TO REGENERATION

Tata Visaba and his family live In an informal settlement near Durban, known only as Madoni (as a result of the landmark Madoni tree at its entrance).

Tata struggles daily with a crippling form of arthritis, accompanied by clubbed feet. The disease has affected Tata’s dignity, as he is the sole provider for his family. Unable to find a job, he has spent most days hobbling with a homemade walking stick along the dusty paths of the squatter settlement.

Tata Visaba and his family had lost hope. They indulged in alcohol, when it was available, to hide from the harsh realities of life at the edge of extreme poverty, and to receive temporary relief to their physical pain.

But breakthrough came when the supporters of Crossroads, a project supported by CBN, started visiting the Madoni settlement and helped establish a church in the little community. Hearing the gospel for the first time, Tata and his wife accepted Christ. Since then, they’ve served God faithfully – and alcohol has been replaced in their lifestyle by the satisfaction of the Holy Spirit. They’re making a much better life for themselves.

Crossroads has set up a vegetable tunnel for Tata to run and at sunrise every day he goes across the river to work on his gardens. With the

income produced from the harvest, they are able to tithe, buy more seed and food for the family. They are grateful for the support of partners of

Crossroads and CBN.

Trusting God in Hard Times

The book of Esther is a great encouragement to anyone going through difficult times. God knows what will take place before it happens, and He uses bad things to bring about good for His people.

Here God uses a king who gets angry at his queen and replaces her with a young Jewish woman named Esther. When Esther first hears of a wicked plot to kill all the Jews in the Persian Empire, she hesitates risking her life to get involved. But Mordecai, her uncle, warns that she will not escape simply because she’s in the king’s house, asking in Esther 4:14, Who knows but that you have come to royal position for such a time as this? In response, Esther calls the Jews to fast, bravely asks the king to intervene, and averts a disaster.

God is never caught by surprise. His name Jehovah Jireh, translated “the Lord my provider,” really means, “the one who sees ahead.” He sees what will happen to those He loves, and He has a plan before any problem begins to unfold. God puts people in place and sets events in motion that will bring about His purposes.

He always has our best interests at heart. This does not mean we will escape testing and trials. But He knows the future and is looking for people who will trust Him—even when we don’t understand what we are going through.

He is a God of hope, of a plan, and of a purpose. He calls us to walk by faith, not by sight, and to know we are overcomers. And He says to all of us, “If you will trust Me, nothing is impossible.” God bless you! Scripture is quoted from NIV

The Cross of ChristThe Conquest of Calvary

Scripture is quoted from the NKJV.

PAGE 4

Many years ago John Stott wrote a book and sub-divided the chapters into the homiletics that I have followed below. Join me in considering the historic and prophetic impact of The Cross of Christ.1. Conquest Predicted Days like Good Friday and Easter Sunday are not just events that happened in the course of history that Christians still celebrate today. In the very first book of the Bible the victory of the Cross was first prophesied. So the LORD God said to the serpent: “Because you have done this, you are cursed more than all cattle, and more than every beast of the field; on your belly you shall go, and you shall eat dust all the days of your life. And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel.” (Gen 3: 14, 15)2. Conquest BegunThe earthly ministry of Jesus began to fulfill that prophecy as He unfolded that the Kingdom of God was near.He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name (John 1: 11, 12).Jesus spoke of the Cross in intimate details to His disciples. He said: “The Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day.” Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it. For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and is himself destroyed or lost? ( Luke 9: 22-25).Jesus demonstrated what was about to happen at the Last Supper with His 12 followers. And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” Likewise He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you”. (Luke 22: 19, 20). 3. Conquest Achieved So many things happened at the time of the arrest and mock trial of Jesus that it is a pity to leave them out of this narrative. But the truth is that God offered up His only Son and He died in accordance with the first prophecy, and many after that by Godly men. We pick up the story at the scene of Jesus’ death. So when the centurion and those with him, who were guarding Jesus, saw the earthquake and the things that had happened, they feared greatly, saying, “Truly this was the Son of God!” (Matt 27: 54}.When Satan thought he had overcome God, redemption’s plan came into being and the usurping serpent was defeated through the blood sacrifice of God’s own Son. Now mere sons of man can become sons of God by grace through faith.[Jesus] wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. 15 Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it. (Col 2: 14, 15).4. Conquest Confirmed & AnnouncedWe must not look at the Cross as Defeat and the Resurrection as Victory. The Cross was the Victory won and the Resurrection the Victory endorsed, proclaimed and demonstrated. But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but a new creation. (Gal 6: 14, 15}.5. Conquest Extended The Church and ministry agents of the Church carry the message of this Conquest. As a partner in this ministry you have a unique role to play in spreading it around our region of the world.1 Corinthians 1: 18 - For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.Acts 4: 11, 12 - This is the stone which was rejected by you builders, which has become the chief cornerstone. Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.6. Conquest Consummated The day is soon coming when the defeated devil will no longer act unlawfully against the saints of God and his end will be without mercy. The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever. (Rev 20: 10). Dear partner, your prayers and your gifts are making an impact around our region. Thank you for standing with us in faith!
