Trustees of the Episcopal Church Corporation One cleric and one lay person are to be elected for a three-year term. Description of duties: The Episcopal Church Corpora- tion in West Texas holds title to the permanent funds and other property belonging to the diocese. It has authority to receive bequests and donations, and to sell or mortgage property to which it holds title. As such, Trustees should have an understanding of/inter- est in financial, real estate, and property matters. The Trustees work with the Bishop on designating certain restricted funds as they are needed in ministry. There is usually monthly contact needed with the Trustees, and a substantial amount of the Trustees business historically was done via telephone and mail, then confirmed at their quarterly meetings. He served on the diocesan level in his previous dioceses of Texas and Oklahoma through being a regional dean on a number of occasions, serving on the Bishop Quinn Board in the Diocese of Texas, and a number of other diocesan committees and boards. And, though new to the Dio- cese of West Texas at the time, he flawlessly hosted our last Diocesan Council in McAllen. Thomas Turner - Rector, Advent, Alice Qualifications: Legal training and experience; long-time residence in the Diocese and knowledge of the opera- tions of churches within the Diocese and corporate operations; a desire to ensure that this Church be able to maintain its operations and missions indefinitely into the future. Local Church Activities: Service at the Church of the Advent in Alice in every aspect of lay minis- try since 1979, including numerous elections to the Vestry, serving often as Senior Warden, served on the School Board when it was operational, served as lay reader, Lay Eucharistic Minister, worship leader, and catechist. Ordained as deacon in June 2010 and as priest in January 2011. With few exceptions, have been a Council Delegate or Alternate since around 1982.
