A MESSAGE FROM PRESIDENT DR. ROBERT HARRISON:I would personally like to invite you to take part in the complete college experience, right in your own backyard. At Lake Michigan College, you have the opportunity to learn in state-of-the-art science labs with classroom technology that brings subjects to life. You have access to knowledgeable instructors and faculty members who take the time to mentor and assist you. You will become a member of Red Hawk Nation, cheering on seven intercollegiate athletic teams with a diverse group of new and old friends. Best of all, tuition is priced right so you have the ability to take the classes you want to explore as you figure out your future career plans.

Lake Michigan College is the only college in southwest Michigan where you can experience all of this. It’s what we call the Lake Effect. The college experience you have here and the people you meet on campus will have a positive effect that will stay with you the rest of your life. Our hope is that you have a similar effect on the people and places you encounter, during and after your time with us.

Let Lake Michigan College be the beginning of your incredible journey. We look forward to seeing you on campus soon.

Sincerely,

President Dr. Robert Harrison

YOUR INSTRUCTORS HAVE DONE THE JOBS FIRST HAND, WORKING IN...

• HOSPITALS

• ADVERTISING AGENCIES

• ON THE MANUFACTURING FLOOR

• IN THE TOURISM INDUSTRY

• AT NUCLEAR PLANTS

• AT CORPORATIONS

• AND IN A VARIETY OF OTHER BUSINESSES… LARGE AND SMALL

And while the associate’s degree you earn from LMC can launch you directly into a career, it can also be the basis for a bachelor’s degree - when you’re ready to move up in your chosen field.

CONTINUED EXCELLENCEtop-notch instructors lead all of LMC’s exceptional programs, including the only nationally accredited nursing program in southwest Michigan

IN TODAY’S WORLD, ONE WAY TO SHOW HOW SMART YOU ARE IS BY HANDLING YOUR MONEY WELL.

That’s exactly what you can do at Lake Michigan College.

AFFORDABLE+ QUALITY = VALUEA GREAT EDUCATION AT A GREAT PRICE

10

These figures represent one year of tuition and fees based on two, 15-contact/credit hour semesters at 2013-14 tuition and fee rates. They do not include room, board, meal plans, books, or course-specific fees.

Information gathered from college web sites as of August 2013. All figures are in-state or in-district rates. Out-of-state or out-of-district rates will be higher for most schools.

LMC students received over $9 million in grants and scholarships last year. That’s money that doesn’t have to be paid back after graduation.

Page 11: 2013 Viewbook

11

Your freshman and sophomore years at LMC will cost a fraction of what you’d pay at one of Michigan’s public universities. In fact, you’ll save an average of $19,000 compared to paying tuition, fees, and room and board at one of the “big” schools. Compared to private colleges in the state that savings can balloon to $40,000 or more!

Think if you have to borrow that extra $19,000 or $40,000. You’ll begin paying those student loans back shortly after you are done with school – just when you’re trying to buy a new car, rent a great apartment, and get your life started. Is that what you want to do with your paycheck every month?

BUT WAIT, IT GETS BETTER. AS AN LMC STUDENT, YOU HAVE A CHANCE TO CASH IN ON PART OF MORE THAN 500 LMC SCHOLARSHIPS EACH YEAR. SOME ARE AWARDED FOR GOOD GRADES, WHILE OTHERS ARE AWARDED BASED ON YOUR MAJOR, YOUR INTERESTS, AND YOUR LEVEL OF FINANCIAL NEED.

IN COLLEGE IT’S DIFFERENT.

YOU GET TO DISCOVER AND EXPRESS WHO YOU ARE. AT LMC, YOUR EXPERIENCE CAN BE WHATEVER YOU WANT IT TO BE.

WHAT IS A TYPICAL DAY AT LMC LIKE? In the morning, you might meet friends for coffee at Munchy’s Café. After class you could lead a discussion with Student Senate about volunteer opportunities before heading off to cheer on the LMC basketball team during a close game.

SPORTS TEAMS7 intercollegiate teams bring the spirit of campus to life. Become part of Red Hawk Nation and cheer on men’s and women’s soccer, volleyball, men’s and women’s basketball, and baseball and softball.

Page 13: 2013 Viewbook

BE HEARDShow off your talents in campus music ensembles. Take the spotlight on the 1,500-seat Mendel Center Mainstage or make things run backstage through theater productions. Express your leadership through the Student Senate or numerous career-related or social clubs.

CAMPUS CLUBS AND EVENTSWant to have fun and meet new people? Join one of the over 20 student clubs and organizations on campus, like the Skydiving Club and intramural sports teams, or create one of your own. It’s really up to you. Plus, don’t forget to hang out with friends at Tasty Tuesdays, Wacky Wednesdays, Fun Flicks, or Earth Day events.
