THE BILLBOARD EDITORIAL FRIDAY, AUGUST 22, 20142

EDITORIAL MISSION STATEMENT The Wilson Billboard is a once-monthly student-run newsmagazine serving the Wilson College and Chambersburg community. Our mission is to relay important information to the campus and provide a forum for intelligent and democratic discussion. To fulfi ll this mission, the Billboard recognizes the many goals of the Wilson community and strives to encourage communication between students, faculty, staff and administration in an ethical and non-biased fashion.

LETTER FROM THE EDITORS

Welcome new Wilson students and welcome back to returning friends! This year promises to be a year of new beginnings. Start-ing this academic year, Wil-son College has become fully co-ed, and for the fi rst time the campus will be home to fe-

male and male students alike. Construction on the additions and renovations to the library is underway. In greeting an incoming class that is the larg-est in recent memory, new faces abound—not only among students, but in many offi c-es around campus too. With these changes will come op-portunities for the college and her people to grow, and this year, The Wilson Billboard newspaper is growing too! Between Shoshana Rudski as Graphic Design Editor and myself as Editor-in-Chief, the Billboard experience is look-ing to be richer than ever. In addition to focusing on writ-ing, we are also reaching out to students interested in graphic design, business and adver-

tising as well as communica-tions majors to join our team. Our biggest goal of this aca-demic year is to re-imagine student media on campus. Creative and journalistic writing, photography, video recording, art, music, social media, and more—we are on it. The Billboard, The Cono-cocheague yearbook and The Bottom Shelf Review will be working closer than ever to create a more complete expe-rience than each group was able to provide in past years. Let’s face it. Change can be scary, but it also carries with it hope for the future. Even though things are changing on campus and we may be heading towards new chal-lenges, it is an exciting time

to be at Wilson, and our school will be stronger for it. Here at the Billboard there is one thing that remains the same, though, regardless of what the coming semester holds. We are going to provide the cam-pus with the latest and most pressing news available while have a great time doing it. This year is setting up to be a lot of fun, if not interesting, and we cannot wait to get started.

Ongoing construction will affect parking and traffi c patterns on cam-pus. Parking between the Science Center and the library/Warfi eld (lots D & E) will no longer be avail-able except for reserved spaces. Lot (A) and lot (C) will now be a faculty/staff lot. Overfl ow parking is at the Hankey Center lot ac-cessible via Penn Drive. Additionally, the in-tersection of Lenfest and Gallway will be blocked twice for 3-4 week peri-ods while water and sew-age lines are installed. During these times, cross-campus auto traf-fi c will be via Philadel-phia Ave/Route 11. To route the one-way traf-fi c will go through lot (B) for cars to exit via the Sharpe House drive. Print brochures and maps will be available with-in the fi rst week of class.
