ABOUT THE 2014 AFRICAN AMERICAN STUDENT LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE The 2014 African American Student Leadership Experience, “iLead: Back 2 Basics, Beyond Mobilization Towards Transformational Leadership,” will take place at the Renaissance Washington, DC Downtown Hotel on January 9-12, 2014. It promises to be an Experience that will mobilize students to move from talk to action by providing them with the basic skills to make change in our communities. Interactive workshops and group processes will engage students in real time, for real change.

The Experience will include learning and engaging around the following sample workshops:

• Motivated by Mission • Funneling Energy into Action • Communal Leadership • Reactive to Proactive • Community Organizing and Activism • Innovating through Social Entrepreneurship • Achieving Academic Success • Enhancing Communication/Presentation • Developing Professional Etiquette Skills • Effective Networking Skills • Mastering Critical Thinking • Maintaining Our Overall Health: Nutrition/Wellness

Student leaders will leave The Experience having a better understanding of the historical evolution of our communities and the issues that are present today. With that understanding comes a sense of responsibility and accountability born out of authentic, transformational leadership. This Experience will excite and motivate students to be the change we want to see in the world!

ATTIRE FOR AASLE The attire for the AASLE is business professional during all planned AASLE events including the banquet. SPECIAL NOTE: Please wear tasteful casual attire during “free time,” exercise sessions, and all social events.
