HISTORY
Mission: To perpetuate employee’s involvement and ownership in our corporate environment.
Goal: To display artwork created by our employee’s children and possibly use some of the artwork in our marketing.
Scope: Hold the first Children’s Artwork Contest in the Summer of 2014.
Our CEO, Lixin Cheng, visited a customer’s headquarters in
California and noticed that the artwork displayed throughout the
facility was done by the employee’s children. He wanted that
same sense of ownership and pride from the employees of ZTE
(USA ) INC.

Dallas Museum of Art Awards
We were honored that the Dallas Museum of Art participated in our first Children’s Artwork Contest. They sent Maria Teresa G. Pedroche to view and judge the exhibit entries by Age Group.
Congratulations to ZTE USA INC for organizing the 2014 Children's Artwork Contest. It was a
privilege to jury the exhibition that featured 23 works from children or grandchildren of employees
currently working for ZTE USA INC.
The artists exhibit strength and diversity within a broad range of styles and expressions and the
themes expressed their ideas with clarity and elegance. The finished pieces are masterful! Having
the opportunity to show their work of art at ZTE USA INC will inspire students to continue creating
art from the heart. Art contests such as this one provide the students the honor to have their works
shown in the main offices of ZTE and inspire young students to be active participants in the visual
arts. Congratulations to the winners and everyone who entered the contest.
Art teaches students creativity and acceptance of others. Children gain good morals such as
sharing and being compassionate as well as respect for others when creating art. Students who
participate in art contests experience self-confidence and seeing the final masterpiece in an
exhibition enhances a children’s self-esteem. May this completion inspire more children to enter
next year!

Born and raised in Brownsville, TX, Maria Teresa G. Pedroche is an award-winning artist who has
exhibited in Texas, Mexico, and Spain. She was commissioned by Escariche (Guadalajara) Spain in
1999 to paint a mural with in the city with other artists and has been featured in many juried
exhibitions. She holds a B. F. A. in Advertising Art and Painting from Southwest Texas State
University, San Marcos, TX and a M. F. A. Painting and Ceramics from Texas Women’s University,
Denton, TX.
María Teresa is the Head of Community Engagement at the Dallas Museum of Art since May 2000.
She promotes the interests of the DMA while working with area organizations to serve the
community. She oversees community engagement, festivals, and exhibitions that include Advance
Placement Juried Exhibition. Her responsibilities include building and strengthening partnerships that
include city organizations, schools, family and young learners groups to build family audiences.
Her experience includes working at the Meadows Museum (specializes in Spanish Art) at Southern
Methodist University, where she was Associate Curator for 10 years. She developed and directed all
education and public programs, including symposia, lectures, concerts/performances, films, and other
events related to museum collections and special exhibitions; supervised and provided training for
fifty docents and supervised graduate students in the education department.
